My neighbor gave me some yucca seeds in 2021. I overwintered them soaked them for 24 hours prior to planted them and had zero germination in the spring. In September I got more seeds from her and planted them immediately and use the snip method using fingernail clippers for half of the batch, and half the batch of seeds I did not snip. I got 80% germination from the snipped seeds and 20% germination from the non-snipped seeds. My plants are indoors right now and looking absolutely beautiful I have about 40 plants about 6 inches tall at 5 months.

The easy way to scarify the the flat hard dark shell is that I use a finger nail clipper to nick the shell. I tried both pre soaking and using the wet paper towel & baggie method both with real good successes , here in San Antonio. Thanks for sharing.

I put mine in potting soil like natural falling seed. About half have germinated 5 plants and are about 3" tall.

About to grow my yella and red yucca I grabbed from Arizona before moving to South Carolina. My yellow yucca seeds unfortunately got white mold on the seeds so idk how they will do, but I’ve got to try.
Loved the yuccas, Texas laurel, and dessert Willow out in Arizona. Everything else was too pokey or very weed-y looking lol

Did this batch germinate better than your last batch? Do you think the time of year makes a difference? Can't wait to plant mine!

Mine keep dying in Colorado. I think they are getting too much moisture. I just re-planted in a dry spot
