I do not think this tree is good for bonsai. The trees are succulents so they may survive indoors. Mine does not bud out until the weather hit's 80's. This year bud break was first week of July. Mine is outdoor grown and is probably 8-10 years old. I've had it for four years. Mine is only 2" thick and about 4.5' tall. It began to grow branches two years ago. I do not think this will remain short and thicken the trunk without full sun. My only experience is the one I own. It has been slow growing and I don't anticipate it having a fat trunk until another ten years. At least in my weather 9B in San Francisco. Let us know where you bought the tree. I'm thinking about planting mine in the ground in San Francisco. I occasionally plant trees in the city where I think an interesting tree is needed. I may want to get a few more

I have been told that the lighter in color the plant is the harder it is for it to feed it self. The thinking is only the green parts (chlorophyll) make food. Your thoughts. I do like a variegated plants.
