My great aunt always used to put eggshells into a large jar with water & put a lid on it. She’d keep them in there for a couple of days then use the water for her plants. She’d refill the water a 3 or 4 times then put the eggshells in the soil & start over.

my father is the main gardener in the family, when i told him about this video he agreed that its an interesting idea and then pointed out that this works best in area where the soil is acidic , here in texas we have alkline soil so putting out tea bags and the like would work better to balance it out.

In the Philippines we use instead of water but rice water it's a good solution for us to use rice water because it helps the plants grow faster and healthy

Thanks for the good advice. It's also good for the nature as it minimizes the food scraps we throw away. I have some tips I use myself. I always rinse the empty plastic bags from for example berries and fruits and use that water in my garden or plant pots. I also try to not throw away blood from dark meat (lamb/beef) as it is good for my roses.

Crushed eggshells also deter bugs like cutworms and slugs from infesting your garden. They cant move through/ across soil as easily and will just not bother

  • @katterkat58

If you boil your eggs you can still use the shell for your plants.
You can also grind the boiled shells up and put it on your foods or your dogs food for extra calcium.
