It seems like Jen could add philosophy to the subjects she could teach. There’s a saying: “be where your feet are.” - the inability to do that has ended many thru hikes. I admire both of you for your ability to live by that saying. Good luck in the school year!
I am once again admiring Jen for not only being totally awesome in general, but also being a teacher of teenagers in this day in age.....I cannot even imagine.....
Corn and rainbows for Jen's final moments on the trail, that was kind of epic. It was also great to see Jen appearing to be feeling better. I hope Jen sends a few clips of her mountain adventures going forward. Cheers to the both of you! I think you had a great summer vacation together.🍻
I love the mailbox. While in Australia, I saw mailboxes made out of absolutely anything from a big plastic jug, to a steam boiler. Oh yeah, stay safe out there.
Taters! We are going to miss you 😢 You bring Matt’s happy side lol Have a great new school year, keep us updated on your hiking adventures while you wait for Matt to finish his hike.
Hey Y'all! Yeah Matt, I'm gonna keep following you along on the trail from the comfort of my couch, But I'm going to miss the Taters giggles. I had one big adventure motorcycle trip, KY to AK, across Canada through VT and back home in 30 days. I was so glad to be home and sad it was over at the same time. I have some idea of those feelings. Taters, thanks for showing some CA kids there are different ways to be, I'm betting you have an impact on some lives. Walk on Matt!
I'd love to see an ADT Taters highlights video. I'll have to check back to when/where she arrived first the summer. I love the videos, I look forward to it everyday, I watch it daily after work. Great work on the videos. I like that your videos are genuine and not overproduced. Just snapshot videos of stuff that you find interesting and that give an idea of what is typical of each day's hike.
Sadly since I do all the editing myself and I’m going to be on trail still for the next few months something like that isn’t really doable. I do have hopes of doing more highlight reel style videos like what I did for the Mississippi but that requires quality time with my laptop
Jen, I agree with you 💯 about teenagers. I also teach HS Physics. I can't wait for school to start each fall and I have been doing it for 35 years. Don't know if I will retire anytime soon.
I've been doing middle school for 14 years now! As a mentor told me years ago, I have the right kind of sense of humor for them. It might be why I like Matt....
The corn.....the corn . . . .stay in the corn . . . hike it, and they will stay! At least Matt will, but Taters heads back to school where there is less corn, but more people. Beautiful end, however, with the vista of the corn and the rainbow. Happy Trails Jen! And Matt, Hike On! Tortoise
Offered a cigarette???!! Um ok lol. Way to tough it out taters I was feeling pretty bad about your tummy issues. Stay safe maso. I'm really excited for you to get back into some high country! ✌️🙏🌈
@@FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes yeah or maybe he knew you were a masochist and wanted to assist in your pain 😆 thanks for the reply! Safe travels my friend 🙏

Day 130. The Holy Mother of The First Church of the Masochist has left us. We will miss her smile and laughter. Would love to see some of her “and this is what she is doing” while I hike etc. you have done that a few times, find it interesting.
It's my hope to keep doing those. Unfortunately Jen isn't exactly pre disposed towards recording things to share so it's often like pulling teeth just getting a few short clips.
Gear load out Could you do a gear load-out on the trail? I know it is not easy to do a load-out video while doing a long trail, but I would love to see what is in your pack and base weight for those who have been following you since the Key West to Canada hike.
I’m still pretty close to what I showed in my CDT pack video. I’ll see about doing another at some point but they’re kind of involved and I haven’t had much spare time lately :)
So happy Jen got to be back on the road this day. You will be missed, but I'm sure lots of teenagers will be happy with you in class. Wishing you a great start of the school year! And thank you so much for sharing this adventure, the name ADT is also fitting for those following from the comforts of home 😄
@garylines5755 Yea, I can see why. Though I’d argue your average first time thru hiker is probably doing a worse job on eating a balanced diet vs what we do. We do a pretty good job of sticking to staples like peanut butter and rice and beans these days
@@FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes My favorite is the hiker that bought five months of mt house food or the guy that makes his own and after a month dumps most of it in hiker boxes.

An hour + wait for a taxi is normal around here. No chance of uber or lyft. 60 bucks round trip to town. 75 for walmart.
Until later Taters! I’ve enjoyed your videos.
Great B-roll ! Sadly no more Taters on the ADT . Keep on hiking Matt.
Going to miss you Taters!! 😢
I know sometimes those trucks and cars can be more exhausting than anything else, also very tough on the morale Ive found.
Instead of Jen walking off into the sunset perhaps Jen walking off into the corn would be fitting.
Way to channel that IBTAT positivity, Taters: in the face of adversity, you can still start off saying, "It's gonna be a great fucking day!"

Yea, I did consider that. Once we went down to Fowler though it didn’t seem worth going back up to it only to come back down.
