    I served in the RAF in the mid 80s and was out in Gibralter in 1987 on exercise , there was a Buccaneer landed at the airport , I asked the pilot if I could sit in the cockpit, he obliged. Would have loved a flight in one. The best I got was flights in a Chinook, Puma, Gazelle and of course being based at RAF Brize Norton, flew in the VC10, Tristar and Hercules C130. I was an avid model maker as a kid, my Dad used to say, wasting your money on plastic crap, miserable sod lol !!

      @@machmodels Cheers mach, I was only 22 at the time and much slimmer than I am now, doubt I'd get in the cockpit now, certainly be a bit of a squeeze. I didn't see any action or go to war during my service but did travel alot with the job. No probs re the sharing although it's not really model related.

    Great video of a lovely aircraft, you didn't go mad on weathering missiles as (when fitted to an aircraft) they only do 3 or so flights and then get sent back to the bomb dump for the 'fairies' to service them before they are fit for flight again. A few red streaks of weathering in gear bays , engines bays or near moving surfaces would make it look like hydraulic oil has spilt or leaked as it looks like ribena but smells worse. Fluids are checked BF and AF and those panels are removed constantly, finished model looks gorgeous and i hope you enjoy Telford.

    Welcome back Luke! Another excellent looking model made in record time, I don't know how you do it lol. Quick question about VMS matt/gloss varnish, what psi and nozzle do you use I find it hard to get it to work nicely for me. TY!

    • @machmodels
      @machmodels  11 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you very much! Sometimes I don’t know either! For VMS varnish I’d pump up the PSI to around the high twenties at least, then in regard to nozzle the bigger the better I usually use a 0.3 for it but you wouldn’t go wrong using a 0.5! I’d also recommend thinning it about 20/30% to really help the flow of it😁✌🏼

    • @crazylocha2515
      @crazylocha2515 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@machmodelscurious WHAT you used to thin it? Also was wondering what you thinned the SMS with? Believe you mentioned knocking it down around 10% also.

    • @machmodels
      @machmodels  11 месяцев назад +1

      @@crazylocha2515so in regard to the VMS varnishes I just use their own brand of thinner, I think it’s called VMS Acrylic Thinner 2.0! For the SMS I just thin it down using Mr Levelling Thinner, I personally think it down just because in my opinion it’s a little too thick… that being said that’s all subject to how you personally like your paints! Beautiful model but I can't believe you've left off one of the Bucc's pioneering features - the external fuel tanks!
    Prevailing wisdom was to use simple stamped external tanks (think Hunter) and drop them when empty.
    The Bucc had much more aerodynamic tanks which would not normally be dropped except in emergency - even so they gave the Bucc longer range at less long-term cost than single-use tanks would.
    The Bucc's engineers won an argument with Sir Sydney Camm about this :D
    only solution is to build a third Buccaneer with the tanks… does anyone do a 1/32 version?

    I had the same issue of rough texture a few years ago.
    The reason was too much air pressure. The color dried before it hit's the surface.
    This is critical especially when using non acrylic paints.
    I spray non acrylic paints at around 0,8 to 1 bar.
    Maybe this works for you too.
    Great work as always with that Bucaneer! 👍👍👍

    I Built the old Airfix 1-72 twice many years ago and was excited to hear Airfix had brought this kit out- you have done a fine job! So glad for Airfix to make great kits again. Look forward to making one myself.

    I'm a massive Fan of the Buccaneer, I was fortunate to do a simulated take off. I was suited and booted in the WSO seat and when she went to max power burning some dinosaurs we thundered down the runway and the acceleration was outstanding and she wanted to lift off into the sky. Amazing build.

      @@machmodels Your vid was linked in an email update from Jadlam models this morning Australian time 🙂
      Definitely send them a thank you message! I hope that your sub count increases as a result; IMHO you definitely deserve it. I'm a 'pretty ok' modeller - but I don't think that my skillset would ever warrant an online audience!
      Thanks to your inspirational build - I now have to make a Bucc. Maybe a Gulf War one? Choices, choices... 🤔
