Hi Mr G, I can see from your video I'm going to enjoy them. I keep buying airfix for some reason, but hey your build here is inspired and made my mind up move on to other kits. Great build, model, and kit, thanks for sharing
My local store suggested this kit, but I went with the 1/72 Vulcan B.2 instead. The Buccaneer projects a great feeling of raw power and looks formidable. I grew up new the RAE at Farnborough, England and saw this beast fly many times. Great build!
Hey John, thanks for posting another build. I pre ordered the kit too. Haven’t yet got around to building it. Thanks so much for building and sharing yours. Now I just have to find the join button…
I'm glad you enjoyed the build Max - you'll like the kit. And thank you for watching! (The Join button is somewhere around the title area depending on your device).
Hi John, Got to LOVE the Buccaneer! I've been wanting this kit but Airfix scares me! LOL I have been told the newer molds are better, but we shall see. Looking forward to following this build and happy building!
Hi, I was ground crew on the RAF Buccs, one error I think Airfix made is they viewed the Museum A/C when some maintenance was being done on the upper engine. in normanl operations the lower engine panels were opened to access the engine and IDG oils. Otherwise the kit is perfect. one other thing to note as the kit is meant to be displayed on the ground, the tail skid would be down, the flaps sag when not pressurised so fully down and the rear underside hatch for the Avio/LOX bay would be open. But what you did was excellent, Now I am a subscriber....
Hi John, the Buccaneer turned out 100% perfectly, don't be too hard on yourself, now hurry up and build the RAF version, congratulations on a excellent job, best regards from Australia 👍👍👍👍
Thanks very much Les! It's not a bad kit with a little work- lots more potential with the RAF version hopefully. Always a pleasure to hear from you- regards from Texas!
I grew up on the Airforce base Waterkloof, in Centurion, Gauteng. The first thing you see when entering the residential entrance is a buccaneer that was used by the South Africans during, given to them by the British, and was deployed to the Korean war. I used to play under it, and spent many fond memories under its wings. Once, when I was a child I had accidentally thrown my house keys up on the back rudders, and had no way of getting them down. We had to get someone from the defence force airbase fire department to take it down, and as people gathered around some officers remarked on the terrible state of the decommissioned aircraft. Two days later it was repainted, and I was asked if I'd like to help. My mother has the photo of me helping the guys repaint it. I can't find many buccaneers in my local hobby shops, and can't afford to order one in, but it's on my bucket list to complete. I'll most definitely be using your video as a guide.
Thanks very much! I've always like the Bucc but there was no way I was building the old Airfix kit. This one was a pleasant build. Very few issues with it. And thanks for your support!
I just subscribed! Great job looks great! Thanks for the info. I’ll be getting that kit once I finish building a few more. Wife gets a little perturbed when I have a ton of unbuilt kits and get new ones 😂. Keep up the good work brother.
Built 12 off them 6 navy 6 raf no problem at all plus I work on a couple off taxi able ones too all airfix decals are done by cartography now won't use kit world stuff any more had nothing but problems with them you did a great job on the build too
Hi John, that was a absolutely outstanding build, congratulations on a job well done, I would like to see you do the RAF version o e day, bext regards from a Kiwi living in Australia 👍👍👍👍
Too bad about the 3D parts not working out, I have dealt with Kit's World for some time and found them to provide excellent decals and service. I rather imagine they will get the issue corrected and do whatever it takes, i.e. change vendors or equipment. Extremely nice model build, my first visit and I subscribed. Nice channel. Patrick
Hi Patrick- it was unfortunate that the Kits World panels didn't work out. I think it's something in their process but they just don't look good. Thanks for watching and subscribing!
I agree - it's one of the nicest jets of that era. When the RAF version is released I'll build it with the bomb bay open - lots of room for detail. Thank you for watching!
Robert - I wouldn't say I avoid Airfix kits - there are a couple that I look forward to building aside from the Bucc. Once I clear some of my building backlog I'd like to pick up the Avro Anson and some aftermarket decals to liven it up.
I just built the Special Hobby 1/72 Anson. Now thats a brand to be wary of. ( My dad flew me in an Anson at RAF Cranwell in the mid 1950's. ) I hear the 1/48 Airfix Anson is a treat.@@MisterGsWorkbench
thats very nice great work.... and i would like also to build the Buccaneer but i cant justify the trenches Airfix call panels and for what it costs... in 2023 is a hard no !
I didn't feel the panel lines were "trenches" on this particular kit, but I guess that's a matter of personal taste. Appreciate the kind words and thanks for watching!
It is definitely a very good kit and I enjoyed building it - very tempting to leave that bomb bay open and really detail it. Maybe on the RAF version? Thanks for watching!
@@MisterGsWorkbench Probably not, I guess. I went off googling to see if Carl was a closet modeller and could find nothing. Love your work, btw… you’re a new one to me and YT did a great job keeping you hidden despite my many other subs in the modelling sphere. Better late than never.

Really nice build. I grew up building Airfix kits, and they have come a long way since I was 8 years old.

Thanks very much! The Vulcan is definitely interesting (and big!). I might have to build one eventually. Thanks for watching!
👍👍👍 Thanks John! I've thrown a lot of $ in after market stuff at this kit. Thanks for the kick in the pants to get going on it. 😁
Worth your time for sure- curious to see what scheme you go with. Thanks for watching!

Les, bugger the RAF, Fly Navy mate....Perth
I can’t believe this is Airfix. They have really lifted their game. Not Tamiya but a quantum leap over what they were.
Completely agree- a quantum leap from where they were a decade ago. Thanks for watching!
Great build - I have this in the stash to go along with the Airfix 1/48 Sea Vixen. I can't wait to get started.
Thanks very much! It was a relatively enjoyable build- that Sea Vixen will be quite a substantial plane. Thanks for watching.

Fantastic build. What brand/color paint did you use for the overall cockpit color? Trying to find a good match to the Eduard space decal colors.

Quite a few issues with Kit World decals. I wish they'd research before they produce.

Just a comment for the old algorithm
Once again doing the yeoman's work!
Thanks John but that background noise/music is bad and takes away from your enjoyable builds.
I'm sorry you didn't like the music Rich. Let me know which ones so I know going forward. Thanks for watching.
Upper wing roundel locations sre suspect
I used the tiny placement diagram included with the decals 🤔
.....да,да-3д принт придает весомой реалистичности......
But for this kit not worth it to be honest.
shame all that internal detail is hidden
Exactly- had I realized it wouldn't be visible I'd have used the decals over the kit details. It would have looked fine. Appreciate the feedback!
