- Hey guys! Hope you enjoyed this one, I personally think it might've been my best to date but be sure to let me know what you think! For a ten-year-old kit, I was impressed, to say the least. See you next time!

My grandfather has commented that this looks very authentic. He was onboard HMS Indefatigable in the 2nd world war. Later planes that graced the flightdeck were seafire and sea fury aircraft. Thank you for the video.
Thank you very much! That’s the best bit of feedback a modeller can get I’m pretty sure!! Really cool information about his affiliation with the seafire, thanks for the comment😁
did indefatigable serve in the far east
@@tracya4087 hi, Indefatigable formed part of the British Pacific Fleet and was involved in operations around Okinawa, she was hit by kamikaze attacks, however as the flight deck was armoured she remained operational unlike some of the American fleet who had timber flight decks. My grandfather also served as part of the Arctic Convoy as escort carrier. He was awarded the Yushkov Medal a few years ago in recognition of this.
As far as the far east, there was no service that I can aware of other than Japan. There was a deceptive telegraph message transmitted to fool the Japanese navy into believing that she had sailed to the far east, however she had returned to Scotland for a refit.
Thank you for your interest.
Merry Christmas!
thank you for your kind reply , late dad ex raf had a mate who was i think a stoker aboard indefatigable , his name was arthur stone , he had an amazing photo album of the indefatigable at war , everything from deck mishaps to surrendering japanese , he was a real character , my great uncles were merchantman , one with blue funnel and one with canadian pacific ,and then orient line , merry christmas and all the best from nick in wigan lancashire@@photosatyours
About the correct colour shades - to be honest, for me, the best is always MRP. They have a large range which includes the dark slate gray which you had a bit of an issue with. It looks pretty spot on!
Thanks for letting me know! I’ll have to check it out☺️
Really nice Seafire 👌🏻👍🏻👏🏻 This era of FAA aircraft colour schemes are amongst my very favourite and it really suits the Seafire, to my mind. Nice job, matey.....
Thank you! I completely agree it just makes it look so elegant, they both compliment each other. Thank you for the comment!😁
I feel you on finding the right colour. When you get it first try you feel like a stud. But when you still can’t figure it out ooh boy.
Haha yeah couldn’t have said it better myself! Thanks for the comment✌🏼😁
Nice to see it at the club on Tuesday
Hopefully it looked just as good as on film!😁
Very nice build Luke!
With your comments about the EDSG, ours is mixed to the real formula for BS640. It has been mentioned a couple of times that it could be too blue, but as it is mixed to the formula, we are confident that it is correct and does look right to us when we see it painted on models, specifically the two toned EDSG/Forest Green camo patterns.
Thank you! Really cool to hear that about the EDSG, I personally prefer it more bluey than grey so I’ll definitely be sticking with the SMS paints for it! I know some people prefer the greyish variation of it so I thought it would be a good topic to briefly discuss!😁
Great job. This is the first of your videos that I have stumbled across. I like your style - it's all about the mixture of enjoying ourselves while overcoming the problems that crop up. Nice one.
Thank you very much! I’m glad you like the style, I don’t take myself too seriously so I hope that makes it a little more watchable!😁🤪
❤❤😊😊🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🎉😁👍🤗💯 very nice kit fighter plane Seafire RAF nice build of this aircraft. Besides the Spitfire.
Thank you Neil!😁
Just found your videos, nice job. As far as paint is concerned, I use either Vallejo model air 71110 for extra dark sea grey and 71309 for dark slate grey (green really!). Or AK interactive 3rd gen air 11849 for dark slate grey and 11850 extra dark sea grey. I dilute the AK 60% thinners to 40% paint and it sprays really well at about 17 psi.
Thank you bud! Thanks for the paint suggestions, I really enjoy the Fleet Air Arm schemes so I’ll have some time to practice with different paints. Cheers!😁
Nice work again. Regarding the paints this is what I use Asks RAF Day Fighter 3G pack. Very nice paint. The grey seems pretty accurate as is the dark green
Thank you very much! Overwhelming amount of people seem to be recommending the AK colours, so it looks like I’ll pick some up!😁
I just found them easy to use, as I'm still a bit of a beginner (even though I'm old, lol), and they seem to match the colours when doing a bit of research. Cheers
Looks immaculate
Well done mate😁
Thank you very much buddy!
Mach Models you are good at building Models and airbrush painting my friend ❤️
Thank you so much bud!! Really appreciate the comment!
Nice bit of modelling. Just the right amount of weathering. Superb finish.
Thank you very much! Really appreciate it sir!😁
Nice result, those colours look good on the Spitfire. Weathering is tasty too.
Thank you very much sir!🤙🏻
Mach Models your Airfix,S fx11 aircraft model kit is awesome my friend ❤

Thank you so much, really appreciate it😁✌🏼
Mach Models your aircraft that you airbrush painting looks awesome my friend ❤

Thanks for letting me knowb
Very well done! That finish is absolutely perfect, can't wait for the next one!
Thank you very much dude! As we go into the winter that usually means one or two big projects😁
So cool 🛩
Thank you very much!😁
Incredible work as always Luke! That paint scheme is perfect 😄
Thank you Joe!! Really appreciate it😁✌🏼
Looks fantastic, lovely work.
Thank you very much! Glad you like it😁🤙🏻
Absolutely stunning build! Your weathering is phenomenal. The colors turned out really nice. Very impressive!
Thank you so much! Really appreciate all the feedback😁✌🏼
Great work love fleet arm models and paint schemes
Thank you! Same here the colours just combine together so nicely!😁
Very nice work!!
Thank you sir!😁
Really nice done I love the hollowed out exhausts great job with the Weathering ❤
Thank you very much dude! Glad you enjoyed the build✌🏼
Excellent work. I was in two minds about getting this kit - you never know what you're going to get with older Airfix kits, but this one looks good, so it will be added to the Spitfire stash.
Exactly, we only have a limited amount of time and I am not going to waste it on trash models.
Thank you! Yup definitely get this bad boy in the stash, really good prices at the moment with a lot of suppliers… Jadlam have it cheap I’m pretty sure!
Such an amazing result dude🤩
Thank you very much Matt! I want to see you do one of these Fleet Air Arm planes!!!
Looks great 🎉
Thank you very much dude!😁✌🏼
Looks ace Luke, would love Airfix to do this in a 1:24 scale.
1st class build. 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you sir! I completely agree it would look sublime in a scale that size!😁
@@machmodels I have over 30 models in the loft awaiting my attention, alas, parenting and a heavy work schedule has got in the way of me getting back to my hobby, hopefully as my kids get older I'll get more time to myself, channels like yours certainly inspire me to get back into it. 👍🏻
Another outstanding model. Thanks for sharing your work. I envy your production rate.
Thank you very much sir!! Haha yeah speedy hands!😁
Good to see your weathering techniques. Have not used the pencils but encouraged to give it a try. Many thanks
Thank you! I thought it would be good to go into a little more depth that usual with them this video. Those pencils are a lot of fun and not too expensive so grab some!😁
Such a nice paint scheme on the Sea Fire
100% it really compliments the airframe, super elegant looking. Thanks for the comment!✌🏼
Great video. I'm building the same kit right now and loved the weathering pencil work you've done here
Thank you very much! Those pencils are a game changer, definitely pick some up!😁
Awesome work as always Luke 👏 makes me want one 😀
Thank you sir!! Definitely try and pick one up, a worthy spot in anyone’s stash!😁
A fantastic build, 😃 and a great save on the paint, if it were me, the kit would probably ended up in pieces against the nearest wall. Also it appears that Airfix have a new? plastic it doesn't look like the soapy blue/grey that the other Spits are molded in.And I agree about the weathering pencils they are fantastic.
Thank you very much!! I must say I did nearly see if this spitfire could fly after the paint mishaps!! Yup this is moulded in their new plastic which is reaalllyyy nice compared to the soapy stuff! Thanks for the comment😁
Mach Models i wish you and your wife and kids a happy Thanksgiving and merry Christmas and happy new year 🎅 🎄 my friend 🎄 ❤️
Only 18 years of age so no wife or kids yet!!! If I don't message before hand merry Christmas to you too!
The Seafire XVII is, in my opinion, probably the best looking of the Spitfire/Seafire series, I really wish Airfix would consider downscaling this kit to 1/72 to help fill a gap in the 1/72 Spitfire/Seafire market.
I have to agree! I’m personally not too interested in 1/72 but I’d definitely pick a couple up!
Looks lovely, have it in the stash and a Hataka FAA (red) paint set that I want to use on it.
Thank you! I’d love to try out those hataka paints at some point, they look like a blast!🤙🏻
Another exceptional build and video Luke! I have tried the AK RAF Dark Sea Grey for my Firefly build but like you said, its still not looking perfect. I think its the strong contrast going against the RAF SKy.
Thank you very much! I think the EDSG is one of those colours where each manufacturer has their own take on it and you just have to find one which makes you happy! But I do agree, the sky makes much harder to look right!😁
My go to Dark Sea Grey is Tamiya XF-24 with about 3% XF-02 added.
I’ll have to try it out!😁
A(nother) Spitfire variant from Airfix!
Couldn’t have guessed!🤣
It’s as very good kit, I built several when they first came out.
I’m very tempted to grab another after this!! Wish they’d release the FR.47 with the counter rotating prop again!
Pretty model - the flaps shouldn’t be down on the ground on any parked Spit or Seafire as that was a quick way to lose your pneumatic pressure. If you really want to do that then the little doors in the upper surface of the wing should be open to allow the ends of the jacks to protrude.
Thank you for the information!! Working on making the models a little more realistic each time😁✌🏼
@@machmodels you’re very welcome. My company was involved in the paint application for restored Seafire 17 SX336.
Great video. Interesting comment on SMS Extra Dark Sea Grey. I used this on my RAN Firefly last year and thought, yep, too blue. However, under a couple of coats of gloss varnish and a final coat of VMS Matt Varnish it lost that blue and looked very much like EDSG.
Thank you very much! To be honest with you after putting some oils and a couple layers of varnish I agree with you it looked far more greyish… wizardry in the paint! Thank you for the comment😁
Hey,first of all,I have seen the Buc at Hannants and damn it’s great,I underestimated the finish and it looks even better in Real life. Also, great execution on this one also, interesting subject aswell. Is this one gonna be at Hannants too?
Thank you very much dude! Glad it looks just as good in person, I am taking it down there on Sunday morning so who knows if they will want it or not... if not it'll be placed on the shelf in my room!
Thanks for letting me know,I will try coming as I couldn’t come for the buc,but I will see can I make an excuse to go for my dad!
This model looks fantastic , the usual amount of quality. As for me personally, a UK aircraft fanatic, I prefer AK real colors , I discovered them two years ago, and they are excellent, especially the EDSG. I'm sure your next build will be the Gannet weeks before it's even distributed!
Thank you very much! I’ve heard good things about the AK colours so I’ll have to check them out! Haha I wish, I believe I’m getting the Gannet at the same time as everyone else so I’ll be enjoying it alongside you guys!😁
Very nice mate. That SMS edsg looks ok actually but my personal go to is MRP-114, it’s great, probably my favourite MRP colour.
Thank you very much sir! I’ll have to get some and put them side by side to see which I prefer! Thanks for the suggestion😁
Great build. How about a Tamiya f35 next? : )
Thank you sir! Ooo wouldn’t I love that, but I’m thinking more gannet?
Brilliant build as always. How did you manage to get that drill bit to your dremel?
Thank you very much! Uhm I just kinda slotted it in there and tightened it! Hope that helps🤣✌🏼
@machmodels it's because I've been looking for an electic drill that can fit those micro drill bits. Because iv bought one and I've been unable to find a chuck or any way to fit those micro drill bits
really nice job. Personally that fly did you a favor as she looks much more striking in EDSG over sky camo!
Thank you! Haha okay yes we will blame the fly for making this build look a bit better😁🤣
Well done, i"ve just purchased this same kit and look forward to building while following this video. can you let me know where you purchased the stand that you are using in the video i'm looking for something more than just a turntable for working on the kit thanks from Canada.
Cheers! I got it from EBMA👌🏻☺️
Greetings my friend, the was a superbly fantastic build, I am no 'expert' but you could br correct with the grey, it does seem a little too blue, apart from that you should be congratulated on a job well done, bedt regards from a Kiwi living in Australia
Thank you sir! I recently completed the Gannet and slightly altered what grey I used, check it out and let me know if it’s a little more to your taste! I think I prefer the Gannets colour!😁
Horizontal stabiliser would be the tailplane for British viewers.
Tomato tomato! Same thing really🤙🏻😁
Ironically you're right. Its a crass Americanism.@@machmodels
What masking tape do you use I’ve seen many modellers use it and it looks very good so I may buy it but I don’t know the name 😅
That’s the Tamiya masking tape that I use!! Really good stuff not too tacky and never lets paint though!😁
10:40 😂😄
Darn fly!
Exhausts stacks do need darkening and rusting
I completely agree, I got too excited with the shiny aluminium!! How do you do your exhausts, use any pigments etc?
what is that blue glue you used on the fuselage?
It’s ammo migs blue dyed glue, helps to visualise where the glue is😉
Buy some AK interactive paint for slate gray.
Thank you for the paint suggestion! I’ll try get some in the stash😁
How do you make models so fast!?
Haha I don't know man!! I didn't even rush this one and it just kind of flew together (no pun intended!). Thanks for the comment!
Save your money - TAMIYA
But Tamiya don’t do a Seafire!! I do love a Tamiya kit but you do need to look elsewhere for different subjects!😁
Too bad they made the panel lines too deep and coarse...
Otherwise you did a very good job on it.
Definitely interesting to compare them to more recent Airfix models, far better looking now days! Thank you for the comment😁🤙🏻
Mich molds my hobbies are painting 🖼 and listening to shortwave and ssb iam thinking about getting my ham license
Very nice!
Canopy didn't fit well because of the gap in the fuselage that you created with poor assembly technique. Filling in the gap with super glue is amateur stuff. Good weathering though.
Oh I thought using superglue was quite a popular technique! What would you recommend to use instead?😁
Needs chipping
Ah very good point! Around the wing roots could've been a good spot for it, thank you for the comment!
Sorry, it is a work of art, def lot of work but to crisp, doesn’t take away you deserve thumps up
