Anyone out there have a sweet tooth? If so, then I think I found the perfect country for you to visit... SYRIA!
Never in my life have I seen more sugary treats that come in all shapes, sizes and tastes. I've tried the best pastries and ice cream in my life over the past several days in Damascus! I mean, the streets and markets are lined with candy shop after candy shop after candy shop -- and it's truly amazing!

That cotton candy is amazing. An Iranian coworker of mine brought some from a trip home. It was one of the best presents I ever got, only ate a little bit at a time because I wanted it to last longer :)

As you should, I was there last month. Lots of history and culture.
It is amazing over 8 million tourist visted before the war making it ine of the most traveled cities and know the war just ended but 2 months later coronavirus comes they literally had some piece for 2 months

I went to Syria last year. I lost 5kg before my trip and still came back fat! The food is amazing but the people even more so. After an afternoon of wandering around Damascus, I was almost doubled over with stomach cramps from too much coffee, which I couldn't / didn't have the heart to say no to. I think that I ended up drinking 7 cups! Everyone just wants you to stop and chat and there is no expectation to buy anything from them. The trip was eye-opening. I had planned to go back this year but I have no idea when that will be now :( Stay strong, Syria!

kushal. n rajasuba I only visit there one every two years or so, the situation is comparable to Syria in the 1980s: electricity rationing (ie expect scheduled 2-6 hours of electricity blackout depending on where u live) and work is not easy to come by... and something new: currency vs. dollar is in free fall.
Nevertheless people are adapting, and surviving and even in a few cases flourishing...
but I am not strong enough to survive there so I chose to work outside the country. I will be forever thankful for my country for giving me a strong engineering degree for a couple of hundred dollars in government subsidized education which allowed me to work in oil and gas industry outside Syria. (Company founded by a Syrian-UK citizen).
Surprisingly, the COVID-19 had little or effect on Syria.

I love your videos on Syria so much. My grandparents are Jews from Syria and Lebanon and I have only experienced Syria through their recipes, stories, and language. Wish I could visit, I’ve only looked into it from Israel. I’ve seen a lot of those candies in markets in Israel, but I’m sure the ice cream is unique!

I can't believe Syria is different from what the News is showing us, though the Ice cream looks appetising to have LOL.
Its amazing. The reason the icecream has that stretch consistency is because of an ingredient called Arabic gum . Which can be found only in Mediterranean region . Google it . Its very interesting

It does texture wise , however the taste is very different. This one doesn't taste like an artificial sweet cotton candy
it's like gulali or grandma's hair (we call in our country)

Arab oil countries ( Saudi, Qatar, UAE , Kuwait) rulers felt scared from Arab spring 2010, they did everything to support Assad to destroy Syria
@@krisht1613 No, we currently are not taking oil from there. There are no commercial companies working for the U.S. operating in Syria to access oil. So.. no companies piping oil.. therefore no fault of America being there for simply oil. We did make the mistake of supporting certain rebel groups to help them fight ISIS, which was a flop and big mistake. I can't speak for other countries involved during the conflict..but it appears uprisings from Tunisia to Syria caused a number of conflicts between government and citizen. What went wrong you ask? Multiple opposing sides fighting at the same time. That is what basically what went wrong. Its a wonderful culture... it will be a wonderful country and culture again as time moves on.
