- WE HAVE A FEW "SECRET SPOTS" AROUND THE BARANGAY... AND IT IS ALWAYS GREAT BRINGING FRIENDS TO EXPERIENCE THEM.
In this raw Philippines Beach Home video, you get to see two Canadians living in Mindanao. Yup, living here is peaceful, relaxing, and definitely something both myself and Bret appreciate. A little waterfall mission, some grilled banana, and then night time comes. I catch up with Kumar, start sorting out my life, and just appreciate the beach home life.
Cateel, Davao Oriental truly continues to be a wonderful living experience...

Two canadians are getting closer and closer like brothers.
The fruits (berries) that Bret is pertaining to is a variety of figs. Nobody eats them in the Philippines believing they are poisonous but they are not. They are actually good.
I grew up in the farm next to a second growth forest when we were growing up and I can remember what the older folks who taught us about what to eat and not to eat in the forest.
If the color us bright yellow, orange, red and no birds are eating it or animals eating it, don't eat it. It could be poisonous or not fit to be eaten by humans.
Hi Kyle.. my husband and I are your avid fan from Canada.. We will travel to the Philippines in January., part of our itinerary is to go to Davao Oriental we are hoping to see you to say Hi. I never been to Mindanao thank you for promoting the area that it is safe to travel there.. I can’t wait !

Kulas, try approaching Patopay with some food until he becomes comfortable with you. Otherwise, he will always shy away from you. Kumar's connection with the animals starts with him providing them with what they need: first food, and then his love and companionship. That can work for you, too.

Providing them with food develops a relationship of trust between them and you. They feel safe around you more readily.
This is true of most animals. Eventually, they will come up to you without you chasing after them, or even having to have food to bribe them. As Cecilia Elio says, with "animals or humans."
You'll become the animal kuya, just like Kumar. 😆

I always feel excited whenever you and bret upload new videos. I miss the philippines and through your videos im living and experiencing my home country that im hoping i can live in again. The coconut trees, that smell when it rains, the geckos and kuliglig. The smell of bbq in the afternoon or your neighbor burning some leaves in the afternoon for mosquitoes and especially the nice orangey sky during sunset. Anyway, your house is also beautiful! You should do house tour haha.
I appreciate how you promote our (our 'coz u are a legitimate kababayan now) country, and I appreciate you more the way you treat Bret like a younger brother...power on to both of you Kulas, I also hope to see Junjun visit your place again now that he's back in the country...

After a long time here Kulas, you can guess the weather with the signs. Igang icky feeling when there is rain coming, no wind, high humidity, sweat cannot evaporate. Then a cold wind comes from above and the sides, then it falls and sometimes you can hear somebody yell: "Ulan!" It means get the laundry, close the windows (batten down the hatches), hipos the farm animals, etc. Goats also bleet moments before a rain.

When I see waterfalls vlog from you guys, one of my favorite to watch.
Bret, when you eat durian make sure you eat it with water melon or mangosteen fruits because durian fruit makes your body heated and water melon or mangosteen will balance your body temperature.

Fun Fact : Common saying by the Elders here in the Philippines. A house with many geckos (butiki) living is a Peaceful House.
Once the original loop used to hang the walis is gone, we either put a nail on top or drill a hole and tie 2cable ties to preserve the form of the broom.
