If you prefer cities I don't see any problem as long as you are willing to take the good with the bad. With that amount you can pay the house, groceries, gas, car, luxuries and even a housemaid. In looking for a wife look for traditionally/conservatively raised that knows how to cook, clean and raise children. DON'T flaunt your wealth. Always stick to your budget and make it clear to your wife and family in laws (expect the parents, siblings and their children to always seek for your help regarding financial problems) help them but set limitations because they will rely on you all the time. Lastly, don't be so naive if you see red flags, let go. Don't be a victim. Be safe and healthy. 👍 Go for it! 🇵🇭

The elders are respected so much in the Philippines that there is a separate lane in the supermarkets or pharmacies for them. They can get discounts too. Just show your senior citizen ID. Btw, the people in Manila or Cebu are Filipinos too and they share the same values as the other Filipinos. So in road accidents, the people in Manila or Cebu act just like the people in Dumaguete.
This is a great interview. He is spot on about barangay mediation. I just thought about the barangay arrangement. That is true! Instead of immediately seeking an attorney, we try to resolve issues first in the barangay. So, that's actually a good thing. However, the aspect I don't agree with is the notion that it's different in Manila or Cebu. I hope people stop stereotyping because the truth is, we are all Filipinos and share the same values no matter where we are. But just like in a family, there's always a black sheep.
At the last part when he's saying his words of wisdom and the way how he perceived the Philippines, the more i admire him as a person and not just a foreigner who just came here in my beloved country, the Philippines.🇵🇭

From what I've seen... Road rage from other countries are far more crazier than what I've seen here... My father for example is a very temperamental person but he drives by the rule of if it's done it's done... No need to escalate especially if there was no damage. He cusses them out tho lol

This gentleman was a great interview. He was intelligent, calm and alert. He had a lot of wisdom in what he was saying.

What he said is very true because I lived in the US for more than 2 decades just to be a slave. We live to work, to follow commands, to obey the culture, and cover ourselves from criminals. Mental illness is a big problem here.
True.
Thats why Us Is Richest Country over the World because Work is life there😆
When you sing badly, people will just smile and sing with you. Heck, you sing badly, I sing badly, let’s all sing badly and still have a good time with it!
- fellow American
😅😅😅 that's true, in Philippines music is life
True, it's not about how your singing is good or bad it's about socializing having fun with your friends and getting along with no prejudice. Having Fun is the word. we don't like seeing a person is getting left behind and out of place. 😉
Not when you sing "my way"

He’s better than some of the authors and i don’t even read a book. Smart man! God bless him!
So how'd you say he's better than most authors if you havent read a book? 💀
Philippines Gem is really the people.❤❤
Moments like these make social media truly worthwhile. Imagine living your entire life believing your own little bubble was all there was. Thanks to videos like these, we can discover cultures and communities that resonate with our beliefs and dreams. I feel so fortunate that places like the Philippines and Thailand exist. It's fascinating to learn about different ways of life. Exposing myself to diverse cultures by visiting them in person has undoubtedly made me a better person.
Calvin is pretty sharp, and smart! Looks like he reads a lot and does his own research in culture and history. Cheers Calvin! 👏
What an interesting conversation. Everything, well almost, is on point and true. I've been gone from the Philippines for so long but I always miss everything about my country that is why I was surprised when my husband declared we are retiring there. The Lord knew the desire of my heart for so long, which is to go back home. We are 4 weeks away from flying back to the Philippines for good and I can't wait.
Wow. Thank you for choosing Philppines❤
Welcome home

@@lydiamalahay5128 that is so true.. it depends on where you live . Growing up in Province is very different from growing up in the city. Everything is very different.
@@lydiamalahay5128right. that depends on the location, just like America as he mentioned. Maganda po talaga ang Dumaguete for expats
I love how eloquent and well verse when he speaks. You can really tell someone who is smart from being knowledgeable. I like this guy! More power to you and your family. God speed!
"be kind to yourself and to others"
that is the phrase to be able to adapt.😊
nice words sir!👍

Thank you for all the kind words you said about my people, I have lived in New York for 24 years and never find the true meaning of life, came back home.. In America is only work and survival, everything you said is true.
I wish this man to be always healthy and live longer life for His family here in Pinas! ❤️
Great interview. Seems like a really nice guy. Great insight into Dumaguete. Shame about his daughter rejecting his new life and second family when her dad is clearly super happy. My guess would be she cares more about her inheritance than her dad’s happiness.
One day , his daughter, would understand. That As long as u r alive , explore. Appreciate d time God is giving u, Share ur happiness,Good heart , Inspire people anywhere.
I love the United States but it is not how it once was. It is so divided politically…parents don’t talk to children, brothers don’t talk to sisters. Neighbors not to others. You have to be careful talking to strangers because you can be accused of being racist sexist or you may be charged with sexual harassment. SAD REALLY VERY SAD ‼️🥺🥺🥺🥺
Same here,my step daughter didn't like us as her dad's second family ...my twins are already 37 years old now...but it's ok,now I'm a widowed military dependant...we all live here in the Philippines and enjoys my beautiful grandkids!

Be patient, enjoy, be open minded. Not everything will work, but if you give it a chance you’ll see the good stuff
Thank you sir for that AMAZING RESPECT to the Filipinos and my country! Salute!

The best interview by an American and the best answers about the Philippines coming from an American. Very proud of my country, " the Phillipines".
This guy is so genuine😁 Everything's spot on, even the superstition that's integrated in Philippine culture. He really embraced the culture deeply, immersed himself in the life here and completely understands it😊 more than some Filipinos do😄 More power to him, you and your channel. I enjoyed this one much with his insights about everything👍
How he embraced our culture,(obviously he knew more abt.our country & people)..is just amazing!❤😊
This interview is great because it provides a very informative perspective from an American individual.
Filipinos are known for their hospitality and for being the number one country in producing nurses in the world-that is who we are!
The Philippine concept of “kapwa” - love 💕 for your fellow man. Thank God for the Philippines 🇵🇭
This guy is totally correct in everything he’s saying. He has so much wisdom.
He lived and learned...and then rebbooted in the P.I
This is one of your great interview and this guy is very fascinating he really had immerse with the filipino cultures.

He is definitely living his Life. Happy , contented and thankful for the things he have. Nice video. Teaches us how to live our life.
This guy tells it All about us Filipinos. Thank you sir!
Great insight. This guy still looks younger than his age. E looks healthy and out of stress life. Thats how we need to live our lives. He makes the best decisions in his life. Kudos brother.
He looks like he dyed his hair. He looks old to me, not younger than his age.
This man is very keen observer of his surroundings ..Observant! Good Job!
As a Filipina, it's heartwarming to see a foreigner who chose to embrace and find joy in our country despite its imperfections. Your positivity is truly inspiring. 🥹
Philippines 🇵🇭 are only country in the world that ever was and ever will be in my heart ❤️
Growing up and living in the southern parts of the US all of my life this guys points are spot on. Aggressive drivers and Road Rage is a constant problem. Its just rampant where a large percentage of the drivers are either mad or in a rush and you're in their way.
This is a great interview good job letting this older fellow talk need to have this gentleman back again soon he is very spoken....could interview him next time about how he met his wife and how to manage finances overseas😊
Online probably social media
Have a stable income like he said an average/minimum of 2000usd or more (inflation)
Choose a second tier cities because it is less polluted and traffic, safer, cheap, secondary level hospitals and well-known universities.

I'm happy for you since you learn to accept and adopt yourself to the cultures and traditions of our country, Philippines. I really appreciate for all the positivity you've spoke about your true happiness living in the Philippines and found a very loving supportive family you have and will be there for you. Salute to you Sir for the appreciation about Filipinos even we are a developing country but we are still happy, smiling, friendly, hospitable etc.but most of all our respect to elders.Thank you for the positive words about Filipinos.New subs here.❤

I am amazed by the intelligence of this man. Truly someone who has travelled the world and read a a lot has a lot of wise words.
Strive for happiness. Amen to that.

I was born and raised in the Philippines, but when I got an opportunity to migrate here in the U.S., I took it.
I've never looked back, living now in East Texas and love it here
I'm proud to be of Filipino origin, but I'm now proud U.S. citizen.
I guess to each their own.
The world is what you make of it. It just took longer for this man to learn that.
I'm happy for him, he figured out the key to happiness.
Thank u for appreciating our culture...we always embraced the bayanihan culture all for one one for all every calamities we always help each other and we always respect the elders. .
thank you for being honest sir, may you live long to enjoy our very welcoming country Philippines
I got an impression that this guy is well read.. Hes taken bits of information from different subjects into the conversation and hes pieced them together into a narrative that absolutely makes sense..
Exactly sir. In philippines you can talk to the random people and that’s what I miss in philippines😢
He is so knowledgeable about the Philippines, culture and the community😊😊😊
There are many road rages here in the Phil. But overall pinoys are friendly and humble, smiling
road rages often happen in Manila mostly, but in provinces, road rage is very uncommon.
In province road rage are not that commom, maybe in big cities like Manila, Makati or Somewhere cebu they exist
From what I've seen... Road rage from other countries are far more crazier than what I've seen here... My father for example is a very temperamental person but he drives by the rule of if it's done it's done... No need to escalate especially if there was no damage. He cusses them out tho lol
@@seikashii733 there may be news about a road rage here in Cebu, but still they only happen once in a blue moon tho. Most of the time, it's really just overall peaceful.

I remember my friend bring her foreigner bf so they had a feast and we were invited. Her bf asked how many were invited and my friend casually told him that she didn’t know and he was confused. The people keeps coming. 😊 We love to share and bond through food and karaoke.
this is one of the best reaction of the foreinger he know our culture ;
Great content. I've watched several videos having the same goal of this video but this is definitely on a different level. It stated a lot of things that I didn't even realize being a Filipino and what the life is really like in here. Kudos!🎉
This old man has a vast knowledge,I enjoyed listening to this interview while sipping and eating my noodles. And I found myself nodding in everything he said..I like his wisdom
Yeap its hard to settle here in 🇺🇸, 10 years from now i will going back home to my beloved country 🇵🇭
welll said. and thats the truth.. thank you..youre always welcome. simply live a happy life, no pressure.
America is very competitive and capitalistic that's my observation as a Filipino.
@23zchris-- Yes, there are many negatives to being the number one economy in world, and I could add many more to a growing list.
US is great for earning money but not retiring.
Despite of his age.. He is still sharp and eloquent. People needs to listen to him -he's been there and than that❤
Even the dogs are not hostile, according to the observations of this senior citizen. He admired heavy traffic attitude and calmer, positive attitude. Community volunteerism needsto expand more in the Philippines.
Thank you for your kind words to the people of Philippines. You have full of wisdom . Stay healthy & enjoy life with your family.
I wish to be this kind of feeling of happiness when I reach his age❤ its never to late to be happy
Wow, the wisdom and knowledge of this man is astounding. I wish the interview was longer or I wish you could interview him again. I like how his constructive criticism about America and the rest of the world. More importantly, I love he integrated himself in our culture and society while being ever so respectful and always keeping an open-mind. Great interview!
Some people might think he's being overly critical of the US but if anything most of his perspectives were understatements 🤣🤣🤣
Really? I have been all over the US when I was on active duty and never experienced any of those things all these bloggers claim has happened to the US. You can still own property, have reliable utilities and medical services, food is everywhere, but if you're not growing your own yes you have to pay someone for providing it and everything else.
@@dumaguetedreaming Well the guy isn't a blogger, he's being interviewed. Although I would believe a native who live in America say things about the negatives of their home. And many americans around the world are so pissed to their US government because it provides more help for foreigners and refugees than their own locals, must be the reason your experience is like that.
@@pauloazuela8488It's true we have a few idiot Governor's who spend millions flying immigrants out of their states but other than that I have never seen immigrants given more than a few months of benefits and that is only after they have been properly screened. American citizens have way more benefits than immigrants, some Americans just aren't happy for what they get.
Appreciate your positive outlook of Philippines ! God bless you both and Mabuhay po kayo !
