Next fighter boys if there is one in the future please include boy perstaym and the kumander. Been addicted to the good vibes from you and the gang. Keep rocking and stay positive thank you.
man, I keep forgetting how beautiful your house is Kyle it looks so homie and relaxing very classic Filipino home with outdoor feels to it as well. So much room and so open. I love everything about it!
"Sibuyas" (from Spanish "Cebollas) refers to two things: "[Sibuyas] Bombay" actually refers to the bulb (because it resembles the turbans of Sikh immigrants, the name only arose in the colonial period, obviously). "Sibuyas Dahon" on the other hand, refers to the leaves, which in English would be called "spring onions" or "scallions". Onions and garlic are native to Southeast Asia. In pre-colonial times, both were called "bawang" (and still are in Malaysia and Indonesia), just differentiated by their color ("pula" and "puti").
The comment @ 6:20 about Cebuano having “hard” inflection reminded me of why Tagalog speakers in Manila where I lived and worked for 11 years spanning 1983-2001 would tell me that Cebuanos were rude. Adding to that perception is the fact that Cebuanos shorten phrases like greetings (Kumusta ka na?) to “Kumusta ka?” which by comparison sounds very curt. I now hear mostly Cebuano because my wife of 25 years is from Mactan and listening to her talking on the phone with relatives in Cebuano is like two dueling machine guns compared to a conversation in Tagalog. 😂 At work the Filipino staff all spoke pretty good English so I never got language training or became fluent in Tagalog but can usually follow most conversations and learned use some Filipino mannerisms like pointing with my lips. I’d have great fun when back in the states encountering Filipinos in the shopping malls speaking Tagalog. I’d walk behind them and go “psst, psst…” and all the heads would turn looking for who said it. I’d react by looking around too before saying hello. 😂😂.
Very thoughtful of you Kyle for giving Bret that beautiful lobster 🦞 a true friend. Good another first for Bret in the Philippines. God bless you guys always.
You’re so kind hearted person Kyle always very considerate with people around you very kind to everyone specially to your friends 😊wow! I don’t know if I can do that hahaha I’m a loner
So exciting to see Bret table on his next vlog. Kulas you are an awsome friend you always surprise Bret. That’s the good thing in your place you have lots of different species of seafood which is so fresh to eat.
Kulas, I'm so impressed by the way you're able to keep all the different languages and dialects sorted out in your head. It's a wonder you don't mix them up into a halo halo of Filipino language. Astig, brad! Kumar showing some serious ninja moves when catching Patopay!🦆
Nice surprise for Bret. Tha smile on his face, that is gratitude. 👍🏽 I like how you incorporated music in certain sections of your vlog. There is that “feel good,” moment. It sets the mood of your viewers. 👌🏼Thank you and Power On!
Kulas you specializes on travel blogging coz you are very good in describing places including its histories while Bret specializes on food vlogging coz of how he transforms taste into expression of delightfulness of the food.
That’s really sweet of you kulas.. you guys makes me feel I’m home. Seems like bret wants to make the lobster as his pet. Another one after patopie. 😅 will be waiting for the extraordinary culinary skill of Bret on his next vlog , how to cook “LOVEster”
Kyle, you are more better than to speak bisaya compare to some Filipinos. Some can't speak bisaya and I think you're a good teacher too☺️☺️. You are so amazing.. Keep it up. God bless. Power On.
I really enjoy these home vlogs and with bret back, its like therapeutic watching this for me. And i love Bret's table episodes, i started learning how to cook because of it during the lock down.
This here is Friendship, in every sense of the word - Fun, genuine, with lots of laughter, humor, rawness, and of course ❤️. It's CDO all over again. Well, happier pa nga kase walang lockdown 😊. Be safe po, lahat kayo.
Sibuyas is bisaya for onions. So with the different varieties of onions you can say, Sibuyas bombay - red onions Sibuyas puti - yellow or white onions Sibuyas dahonan - spring onions
Becoming a Filipino and knowing some dialects and cultures are such inspiring as a Filipino also for other foreigns to be willing to live as a Filipino. Keep on be humble to others and enjoy everyday with your vlogs. Thank you for help and supporting our locals and co-filipinos. God bless and hoping to meet you soon in person. Happy lang 😊 Hans from Abu Dhabi/UAE
Kulas, i don't how bombay is used down there in davao but in the visayas we usually refer to the onion bulb as sibuyas bombay and the leeks/green onions as sibuyas dahon
Sibuyas generally means onion, in both tagalog and bisaya. Sibuyas bombay refers to the red onion variety. Because of laziness in speaking the bisaya dialect, most cut off the word sibuyas and simply say 'bombay'. Sibuyas dahon refers to shallots with the long green tube "leaves", thus the term dahon. 😊
Correct! I was born in Cebu. "Bombay" refers to the red onion which was first grown in West Pakistan. In the PH anything or anyone from India or Hindu is called "Bombay" (almost sounds derogatory to me) referring to Bombay, the city of India which is now Mumbai. Sibuyas is still the proper term.
very generous kulas to his kababayan good friend Bret... n nd cateel boys. enjoy cooking Bret n happy staying cateel kulas compound... tkcre guys always watching here ND kingdom of Bahrain shelane
I am happy watching your vlogs everynow and then. But today, it is much different.I am more than happy seeing familiar face.Pls extend my regards to Shaka pls😊Good to see her and her doggies too♥️♥️♥️
I guess kabo is an old word for dipper. When the GI Joes came, they brought canned goods. The locals empty the cans and make it into a kabo. Haha, what about salmon, the unit of measure. "Isa ka salmon nga lemonsito palihug!" Salmon is a canned fish and the can is again used. Very interesting and colorful stories of our past. : Goood night!
Di ba, sa? Saying "di ba" more like confirming it from what you already knew then from that someone. When "sa" is added at the end... that's for making it solidly sure. ;) Hehe
Hi Kyle, I second on Angry Kittens explanation on sibuyas🙂...it's true, sibuyas bombay are the kind of onion bulbs, (whatever color it is)..and sibuyas dahon refers to spring onions or escallions. Sibuyas pa more😄
I really love your group.. your videos are all awesome.. relaxing.. i love all your content.. fun, adventure and more.. ..more more videos everday please.. An one thing more.. adding the amazing nature... oooooohhhh.. i love you kulas😍😍🤣 God bless you always..
Onion in English, cebolla in Spanish, sibuyas in Tagalog. When we were small, the Philippines used to import from India (whichs is well-known to Filipinos as Bumbay for Bombay) a variety of very small red onions. My grandma would tell us to buy sibuyas bumbay referring to red onions. The Filipino onion farmers grow them now but the name stuck. About the lugaw, it's rice porridge. It's a snackie but sometimes when we're under the weather, my mom would cook us rice porridge, I guess its equivalent in the West is chicken noodle soup. Here's wishing you all all the best!
Sana All has friend like you Kulas Super Mabait☺️ Bret so Lucky… I like the way sharing Foods Cooking for everyone 🥰 helping out around the house 🥰 You guys are awesome. #PowerOn Spread the Love and sharing is caring vibes 🥰🌈🌤🤍
it is sibuyas for onions. the bulb is sibuyas bombay - the favorite of bombays or indians in the Philippines. the one with leaves, spring onion is sibuyas dahunan.
Kyle, I admire your thoughtfulness to Bret both of you are far from your respective families and Bret is your brother at heart as yours to him too. I remember a passage in the bible saying the most beautiful thing in this world are those true friends and neighbors loving and supporting with each other. Cateel gang though couldn't say straight talk with you in English but I can feel their love to help you and Bret. i In our dialect we have this expression sinilingan" or strong brotherhood relationship with neighbors. Did you try to put coconut milk or gata in your shrimps and crabs add it with squash because no pumpkin here, little ginger, bell pepper, and string onions(sibuyas dahon). Others put saluyot leaves Ilonggos recipe depends if you like a little slimy nature of saluyot. Saluyot is one of p preserve vegetable in Japan has anti carcinogenic property. Shrimps lobsters, and crabs are known as good food after body workout because like Salmon they are good for the heart.
Kulas after hearing Will Dasovich Podcast, Bret being his guest it is admiring of you and the gang to welcome him . Power on to his continued positive transformation.

Sibuyas Dahon or Sibuyas Dahonan
@@rikz95mm40 Same thing. Just dialectal differences. They both mean "Onion leaves"

The Philippines is similar to the UK. It's one country with different native ethnic groups. (Welsh/English/Scottish/Northern Irish/British)
