Nice looking grill. Those burgers are making my mouth water! A couple of quick pointers: Pressing down on the burgers causes the juices to squeeze out, drying them out. Also, when you flip the burgers, if you them to a fresh area on the grill, you'll get better grill marks. Because there wasn't any food on it, the bare areas will get a lot hotter, hence the better grill marks.
Glad you enjoyed and hope it was helpful. :-) One point to restate is about the regulators - they are the weak spot of most portable grills. Pay attention to your warranty because I heard MANY complaints - I think they give you a year where they will replace it for free.
danoooooo, if you want to smoke your food on a propane grill try putting your wood chips (soaked or unsoaked, your call) in foil, poke a lot of holes in the top and keep the grill on a low flame. put the wood chips to one side, get it smoking, then put your food on the other side. Not as good as a real smoker, but you still get that touch of smoke.
I used to do that a few years ago and always told myself to do it more but for some reason I fell out of the habit. When I read the book after first use they say you can throw the chips right on the grill... seems odd but I may try it. :)
Great information. Might consider it for the summer. I hate standing by my charcoal grill in the summer in Florida, too hot. Excellent idea with the hickory. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the video, I’m about to add the Wood chips now, but I’m not going to cook today, if I’m not going to cook today should I not add the Pam spray? just add the wood chips?
I think the pam grilling spray is something to do before cooking. The instructions say you can just put the chips right on the grill - no need to a chip basket. Seems to have worked well for me
Just got one on amazon for $77!!! It must have been a pricing error because it shot back up to $179 shortly after but after seeing all these reviews i'm excited for it to arrive
I purchased the 4 burner infrared Grill and I love it.. I have the true infrared grill.. Every piece of meat that I make on that grill comes out nice and juicy with nice Grill marks. Try cooking asparagus on it it comes out great.. Well happy grilling to you.
After reading comments on the best grill for RVing, I bought the X200. Found one for $99 from an Ebay reseller, unopened and undamaged. EVERYONE said to replace the regulator, almost everyone said it was bad out of the box and didn't control heat well, if at all. I bought a Mr Heater F273769 based again, on RV forum recommendations. Its a Mexican made unit, slightly shorter than the original, but still allows installation of the shorter, fatter bottles. I haven't used it yet, but I intend to run the grate through the dishwasher before I do to remove the manufacturing oils and residues. I hope it works as good as yours has.
I'm still very happy with mine. The regulator issues appear to be true from what I have read as well. Maybe I just got lucky and honestly if you read reviews on most of the portable propane grills the regulators all seem to be a weakness. It does burn VERY hot and takes some getting used to but if mine got stolen... I'd buy another one. :-)
It sounds like your regulator is done. It does blow out in wind when low. I bought a new (different make) regulator and grill is if anything too got at times. I had to connect using a proper gas hose and jubilee clips also cut the small pipe that inserts into burner. There's an issue with the supplied regulator. As with you, it was ok at first then failed. I tried to get message to charbroil to no avail. Thanks for your video. Regards
I thought the same thing and bought a new regulator a while back.. also a different brand and higher quality. But I actually need to try it because this one seems like it just had a hiccup and is working normal now. Worst thing on these portables are crappy regulators. Thanks for the info
@@WanderDano Thanks for reply. I thought the regulator supplied looked fairly decent. I forgot to mention that I had to cable tie the knob on top to force more gas through. But that eventually didn't work. I'll check which regulator I bought and post it here. There weren't too many available.
VS. Weber, which is about 100.00 more for their portable grill, how would you compare? I purchased a Brinkman portable for about 100.00, but it's a bit too cumbersome for my needs and I'm considering this model, which is brand new to the market! I'd love to see the results of a good NY. strip or ribeye! Thank you for all the awesome videos!!
I was thinking about the webber Q but like you said it was higher priced and it was taller - I didn't think it was going to fit inside my van as well. I had considered the brinkman as well but again if I am thinking of the same model it was a bit too tall. What I really wanted about this grill was the Infrared grill. I will try to get a steak video up soon. SO far... I am VERY please with it. That said I was using a pretty wonky grill for a long time. lol
Congrats Dano! I'm assuming you must be getting ready to hit the road for another great adventure! Wherever you go I hope you have a safe and happy journey and I look forward to all the videos!
Wander Dano of course I have one built in on my Trailer but I am thinking about getting one to use at the house, I'll definitely be keeping my eyes open for more of your impressions of the new grill
Hey Mr W.D! You Finally Did It! I don't know how to act now without the uneven flames and all the foil! I'm really looking forward to more Cooking Vid's on that Fancy New Gadget! Cheers! Thumbs Up! P.S. I might have to get me one of them there cooking things...
lol yeah - it may be difficult to not have a difficult grill. It is funny that I got used to that old grill and it didn't get on mu nerves as much as it should have. :) I will give an update after I have gotten used to it and have a full opinion.
I just bought this grill and was trying to verify that the grate is dishwasher safe. I can't find that info anywhere. Can you help? Oh, and I love the grill so far. Food tastes really great! TYIA
Congrats on finally buying a new grill. You really made a valiant effort to keep the old on going. My home grill has something that it calls an infrared part but it is a weird burner not a whole different grating thing like yours. Maybe I will try cooking my corn on it next time. Is that huge green space your back yard? If so, you have a fantastic back yard.
Yeah - I had to give in.. I still think it is funny that as wonky as my old grill was it didn't really drive me crazy - maybe I liked the challenge of it. lol Yeah that is my backyard - it is nice until mowing time. lol
I have a 4-burner True Infra red. Here is a tip. For cooking with wood chips....put the chips on AFTER the grill has heated up. Put DRY chips on the grates and close the lid. When you see/smell the wood smoke, ADD your food. Close the lid and cook away. Wood chips will turn to white ash about the time your meats are getting done. Soooooo good! Enjoy!
Glad it may have been helpful. The one thing I'd say is MANY people complain about the regulator on these going bad - keep in mind you have a one year warranty on it. lol
Yes - I am still happy with it! You may find some negative reviews and that is usually because the regulators on these can sometimes not be great for some people. It is not uncommon with the small portable grills.
Dang just a heads up!! The valve on this unit is a piece of JUNK!! Everyone has same problem. Replacements are back ordered with no time for ETA!!! Hope yours lasts longer than mine. Also it runs hot!!!
Thanks for the first couple of steps when first using this grill, I would’ve just threw food on it, And got that plastic taste, :( I also liked that you use the Pam spray, I’m now going to use that also, I just bought mines today April 13,2022
Dano I like to cook up a few nights of meals, chicken breast, hamburgers, sausages etc. Then I put it fridge, then at dinner time I just throw in microwave, it makes life so easy. Of course im talking about on the grill.
I've been really happy with it. Hopefully I gave a good review. After a year I'm still really happy. The only warnings are it get really hot (the regulators on most portables are not great) and if you hate scraping a grill watch out. It takes more time to clean but I think it is worth it.
I wonder if they sell a pizza stone as an accessory? 650 degrees - pizza from scratch. I bought a stone online to fit in my Coleman oven but this grill looks like it might be hotter - which would be great for pizza...
I'm a carnivore. Technically - humans are omnivores however - God I love meat! I love the marinated tri-ips and pork loins wrapped in plastic - Kansas City BBQ is my favorite - they stay fresh in the cooler for a week or so. Fresh meat...and I love sirloin...12 hours max in an ice cooler. An RV fridge properly operating would keep the fresh meat longer I assume.
I am the same way. When I lived in California I got way way into tri-tip. You can't always get that cut in other areas so that may be a reason I do so many London Broils. lol I actually cook them the way I did tri-tip -- high and then indirect to finish it off. I have had pretty good luck when loading up my 12V cooler - I seem to be able to get 2 weeks of stuff staying good with freezer packs. :)
We had dinner at a friends in San Diego a while back - he grilled skirt steak. I've never seen that at the market but I'm sure a proper butcher can come up with it. Yeah - those marinated, rubbed tri-tips are delicious - but tough. The packaged pork loins are tender though...
How is that POS working for you? Bought one after your review and regulator would not control gas flow so heat adjustment was full on. No factory support what so ever! They don't reply to emails or phone calls.
I've had no problems with mine - still works fine. Sorry to hear they haven't been cool with you. I did a one year follow up video and talked about how many others have had problems with the regulators. A common problem with most portables. I also heard that Charbroil was really good about replacing them within the 1 year warranty. Again, sorry that hasn't been the case with you. Your comment is the EXACT reason I don't ever do sponsored reviews on products. I again apologize and all I can say is if you end up with a good regulator you'd probably be happy with it.
My issue with this grill is two fold, don't use marinade on your meat as it drips into the holes of the part the meat sits on and block them within a few minutes and it then only works like a pan on your hob with ribbed frying pan, the other major issue is the regulator that comes with the grill does not regulate the temperature - now matter what I turn it to (either using a bottle gas or the small portable gas little canisters) will got to a full 275 degrees C!! I have contacted Carbroil - no help or even a reply - and that is through their own website - would not recommend this. Thank you for your suggestion regarding your adjustment "in line" BUT that should not have to be done - it is a fault in the design of the regulator
ohh my bad. I was keeping an eye for at store prices for a little while. I got it from amazon for $99. It went up a little like 2 days after I got it. :)
There doesn't seem to be a proper connection to the regulator on mine.. and Holes are placed on the lip which look to me like they would just leak gas out everywhere. Anyone else have this problem?
Those are a good option - I like the way this grill works with vaporizing the drippings and infusing flavor.. but yeah clean up can take a few minutes. :-)
Great review IMO. I am now biased however because I bought the bigger 4 burner version for the home over my old go to "Broil King "Brand (at 50% less money in Canuckistani Dollars). The controls on mine have 180 degree swing from low to high for the gas. The main difference between the big guys and the portable one is the holes on the "heat management pan" are on the top which the spill up onto a cast iron grate with concave pockets which also heat up.... I'm unable to burn full skin on chicken wings, even when I'm sure I did.... temperatures are so even... te cleaning effort sometimes needed is a moot point as the food is moist, flavourful, and nobody complains when the chicken skin is golden crispy and meat is not dry. BROIL-$- KING, YOU ARE DEAD TO ME.
i was scare to pay $100 for it but coming from you nano i think i will get it then. i got a cheap one for now the charr broil 190 is ok nothing special for $25/$30 bucks gets the job done
I have only cooked those burgers so far... but I do hope after I have used it a lot that I am still happy. Those cheaper grills are fine and like my old wonky one it did the job. I guess I finally splurged. lol
Why are you squeezing the juice out of the burgers? Avoid doing that for better burgers. It does not help anything. Good review of the grille. I think I will probably get one for vacation.
I had heard mostly good things about the infrared so I figured I would give it a shot. I also thing it is going to fit in the van better than the webber q. i know many like those grills but I think they are a bit too pricey and just didn't draw me.
I figured you would be the one person to LIKE this video. LOL I think once I get used to it good meals will happen. But I'm keeping the old one... you know because I get accused of being a thrift store hoarder. :) Serious note tho - I think anyone looking for a grill should give this serious consideration.
You had me convinced when you said it is supppswd to keep the food moist! Hate meat that gets over cooked. Except chicken. Cook the crap out of that chicken! Man. Now I want a nice jucy steak! Looking forward to your first cooking video with it!
That is the claim and so far... just burgers... I can't say they are wrong. lol I agree - chicken needs to be cooked well. lol Now I want a steak too. lol all the best
@@WanderDano first time I will be buying a Propane grill, will I need a hose with a regulator on it if I choose to use a 4' Propane hose to position the tank farther away? Or will a standard 3/8 Propane hose without a regulator suffice?
@@marnez390 you can use the 1 pound tanks or use the extender hose. It connects to the regulator like the more typical 1 pound tanks used by most people with portable grills.
It is funny that my old wonky grill didn't g=drive me as crazy as it probably should have. I hope this one turns out be be as good as the first impression. :)
Yeah I mentioned in a follow-up review that if someone hates cleaning grills this one might not be the one for them. The extra couple minutes doesn't bother me. :-)
I’m looking into a portable grill and this one looks decent for the money or the Weber version is $200. That’s a little high for such a tiny grill so I may go with this one.
I wouldn't buy another one of these grills it keeps the meat moist when cooking but Incinerates the outside. The temperature control is rubbish with the cheap Chinese regulators they supply with these the temperature on the thermostat is always maxed out even with the gas flow turned to the minimum and they are a nightmare to clean
I've heard of people having problems with the regulators - many portable propane grills have cheap regulators. Mine has worked fine and I couldn't be happier.. this is for sure a grill you have to keep an eye on. They take a little longer to clean but really not a big deal. If yours is less than a year old they will send a new regulator for free if it is faulty.. I'm told by others. I'd get another one without hesitation.
lol finally pulled the trigger. What is funny is the old wonky one I had... I actually didn't complain too much - for some reason it didn't drive me as crazy as it probably should have. lol I am HOPING for good things from this one. :)
do you remember the smell of the old Burger King , O'yeah like that only better . Dan'O wait till you grill fruit and veggies on that mama ! no just use a plastic dish brush on it ! ttyl.
Wander Dano ah , don't forget Dan'O you can use a small pot pie tin or folded tin foil , with just a handful of chips soak them for like 12 to 24 hours - YOUR A VERY LUCKY MAN ! you know I'll be dreaming of B.B.Q. tonight L.M.F.B.O. ! TTYL.
yeah - i've made small pouches for chips in the past.. it had been a while.. but when I read the booklet they say just throw them straight on this grill... figured i may give it a shot
Wander Dano hey your the Boss that's why I watch your vlogs , but man your lucky you know I love my nuwave's ELC. grill's cast iron pans but man she's nice you can't beat perfection ! make more vlogs , ttyl 😂. ttyl.
Looks kind of messy and you didn't even have cheese let's see you cook those three burgers with a piece of cheese or a real test would be two pieces of cheese on one of those burgers just to see for the drip factor that would give you a good measuring stick I would say because cheese gets messy we all know that
This is the first video I made of this grill 5 years ago - still have it and it still works great. It doesn't flame up and cheese is not an issue. Takes maybe an extra minute to clean but not a problem for me at all. I wouldn't still recommend and replaced... if needed. It has held up great!

Hi, I just read your comments, I got a 3 burner infrared Grill from Char-Broil. I had an old Char-Broil that used to flare up and burn the food. It was rusted out in time to go. When I picked up the new infrared it was a world of difference. Heats up fast and no flame ups! It might be a little bit harder to clean and maintain, but the quality of food that it cooks is a lot better than any other grill that I've owned!

If you mean I have the grill upsidedown - no that is how it goes
Nice looking grill, good size for camping, like the handles. 👍
I think so too.. I know it is only the first day but so far so good. time will tell :)
Thank you for your suggestion regarding your adjustment "in line" BUT that should not have to be done - it is a fault in the design of the regulator
same post you put to a different video.
Very nice, but where did you buy it?
ohh my bad. I was keeping an eye for at store prices for a little while. I got it from amazon for $99. It went up a little like 2 days after I got it. :)
Good deal!
yeah - so far so good
Hey sir nice review. My grill is a little bit different but wanted to point out I liked the detail. Have a good one.
Thanks, you too!
I just bought one. Where do you get a hose for bigger tank Sir??
I had one already but pretty certain you can pick them up at like Lowe's or Home Depot. :)
NEVER push down on your burgers w/ the spatula !!! You only Reduce the JUICINESS and FLAVOR !!!
I usually don't unless I go to smashburger. lol
There doesn't seem to be a proper connection to the regulator on mine.. and Holes are placed on the lip which look to me like they would just leak gas out everywhere. Anyone else have this problem?
I haven't noticed that problem with this one - it seems to be pretty much like all the other portable grill regulars I've used in the past.
use a grill mat they work great.... easier to clean up
Those are a good option - I like the way this grill works with vaporizing the drippings and infusing flavor.. but yeah clean up can take a few minutes.
If only they made a low pressure hook up to use with the rv’s quick connect system...
I have a hose that can connect to a full sized tank and also to my on board RV propane.
very good vid on the grill, I might buy one for the truck.
hope it was helpful - good first impression for sure.
So is this grill more smokey than usual? I love grilling but I have to take it easy around smoke because of my lungs
Yes it smokes a LOT. I like it for the flavor - but the smoke is because of the infra red thing. basically anything that drips turns into steam/smoke.
Going to Lowe’s to by one now. Thanks. Good video.
Hope you enjoy it! It's not a perfect grill but I've been happy with it
Great video Dano! How is it 3 years later?
I'm still happy with it and would recommend. :)
@@WanderDano I just purchased it! Thank you
@@BrianPCook I hope you are happy with it
How much is the grill bud?
I think I got it for about$100 4 years ago
Can you use this grill with the small gas containers ?
Yes
@@WanderDano too bad you can’t afford a quality portable grill, it’s like night and day.😳
I have the same one but never used it yet.
I think you will like it. It seems to sip the propane and cooks quickly - I just gotta do the learning curve. :)
Thanks, great review.
Glad it was helpful!
Does the regulator/valve fit tight into the end of the burner?? I noticed when I installed mine that it's a little loose
There is a little wiggle - that's normal. :-)
@@WanderDano ok....just wanted to make sure it was a secured fit and wouldn't leak
i was scare to pay $100 for it but coming from you nano i think i will get it then.
i got a cheap one for now the charr broil 190 is ok nothing special for $25/$30 bucks gets the job done
I have only cooked those burgers so far... but I do hope after I have used it a lot that I am still happy. Those cheaper grills are fine and like my old wonky one it did the job. I guess I finally splurged. lol
What is the name of the adapter, that goes from the tank to the gril?
It's just a standard extension hose from the tank to the regulator.
Why are you squeezing the juice out of the burgers? Avoid doing that for better burgers. It does not help anything. Good review of the grille. I think I will probably get one for vacation.
bad habit - great grill. It gets really hot which is good but need to keep an eye on things.
Need smellavision. Lol. Looks good.....I had infrared grill at the house it's awesome to cook chicken on....nice and portable grill
I had heard mostly good things about the infrared so I figured I would give it a shot. I also thing it is going to fit in the van better than the webber q. i know many like those grills but I think they are a bit too pricey and just didn't draw me.
we're all excited 😁
lol
Aahhhhh haaahaa!! Hallelujah! That looks like it will cook one heck of a London Broil! Yum! Congratulations!
Is there a regulator you can use that actually works?
regulators are always the weak point in all these portable propane grills.
good info & great video too.Thx
Glad it was helpful!
FINALLY!!!!
I know right!!! lol
I like my Burgers with a Pulse. Those Burgers were Man-Handled far too much. The Grill looks like it does a good job.
I like the grill
Does the ignighter require a battery 🔋?
No it doesn't require batteries. It uses piezoelectric ignition. :-)
@@WanderDano how do you like your grill after 2 years?
My favorite grill ever! Here is a 1 year update review of the grill.
ruclips.net/video/6wKvOV2HAXY/видео.html
Good review, thanks.
thanks
Ya!!! You needed this!!
It is funny that my old wonky grill didn't g=drive me as crazy as it probably should have. I hope this one turns out be be as good as the first impression. :)
Not to mention the grate is always clogged up & hard to clean
Yeah I mentioned in a follow-up review that if someone hates cleaning grills this one might not be the one for them. The extra couple minutes doesn't bother me. :-)
AMAZING VIDEO!!!!!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Its like a lil smokey joe, but better. Hmmm, making me hungry.
yeah lol so far so good
I’m looking into a portable grill and this one looks decent for the money or the Weber version is $200.
They were much juicier before you mashed the juice out of them. Great video though!
yeah it doesn't happen often but sometimes I make the mistake of all the back on the flat-top days. thanks though :-)
Nice review thx
I really like this grill !!
whoo hooo dan gotta new grill....
lol finally pulled the trigger. What is funny is the old wonky one I had... I actually didn't complain too much - for some reason it didn't drive me as crazy as it probably should have. lol I am HOPING for good things from this one. :)
pressing down any Burger will make them very dry and tough!!
it you go crazy with pressure yes
good info but tooo dragged out! could have made all those points in less than 2 minutes
yeah - i may have went on too long - some people seem to like the more in depth and seeing the grill cooking before making a purchase themselves.
damn papi, looking delicious!
lol thanks
Eating a burger with sriracha and no other toppings. That just makes me so sad.
then you shouldn't do it because being sad is never good. ;)
Looks good man....you should have toasted that bun though! :-p
sometimes I do that. :)
Do some steak Dano
I will :)
do you remember the smell of the old Burger King , O'yeah like that only better . Dan'O wait till you grill fruit and veggies on that mama ! no just use a plastic dish brush on it ! ttyl.
lol this may spread the smells pretty far - like BK.
Wander Dano hey your the Boss that's why I watch your vlogs , but man your lucky you know I love my nuwave's ELC. grill's cast iron pans but man she's nice you can't beat perfection ! make more vlogs , ttyl 😂. ttyl.
thanks very much
Looks kind of messy and you didn't even have cheese let's see you cook those three burgers with a piece of cheese or a real test would be two pieces of cheese on one of those burgers just to see for the drip factor that would give you a good measuring stick I would say because cheese gets messy we all know that
This is the first video I made of this grill 5 years ago - still have it and it still works great. It doesn't flame up and cheese is not an issue. Takes maybe an extra minute to clean but not a problem for me at all. I wouldn't still recommend and replaced... if needed. It has held up great!
Dude, stop smashing the juice out of the burger’s 😢
part of that was to show that this grill won't flame up.. ;-)
Camper neighbors, with asthma, will not be happy. yikes.
lol but their nose will enjoy the smells :-)
I remember my parents bought an electric Char-Broil grill back in 1973 & I just gave to to my brother. Still works just fine!
that was well made lol

Hi, I just read your comments, I got a 3 burner infrared Grill from Char-Broil. I had an old Char-Broil that used to flare up and burn the food. It was rusted out in time to go. When I picked up the new infrared it was a world of difference. Heats up fast and no flame ups! It might be a little bit harder to clean and maintain, but the quality of food that it cooks is a lot better than any other grill that I've owned!
