I have problems with mine blowing out in the wind. I took a thick folded aluminum foil and covered the drain holes under the burner. That stopped the wind problem and I can get the grill up to 650F. on low. That helps conserve fuel. The high heat helps keep the grill clean also. Good video.
I have had table top grills for decades and I found the easiest way to remove all that baked on grease and Marinade from those grill plates is to cover them in foil and crank up that bbq with the cover closed for about 30 minutes and nothing but ash is left to sweep up then re-oil that grill to keep it from sticking
I have too but I've found a couple minutes of scraping does a good job. I know the easiest way is to just crank up the grill but I don't see the sense in wasting the propane.
I like to add this little setup of a container to serve cooked cut up meats from using the long tongs to cook with, the short tongs to hold the meat while cutting it with a sharp 8" knife on the cutting board. Use the fork tongues rarely. All these fit in the container which I put on top of the grille, and close the cover to handily carry it with one hand to the park bench to enjoy.

You picked a beautiful back drop for your review video. When you and others were talking about how hard it was to clean, I envisioned having to take it totally apart after every use and clean it. What you described isn't bad at all.
It doesn't bother me really at all but I do like to say it takes a little extra... I know many people aren't willing to do much effort at all. lol It does stay juicy and worth it to me.
@@WanderDano Do you heavy scrape/clean after every meal, or after a few, maybe home from trip? Thank you for your sharing, and when you are grillin I am smelling/droolin ‼️
I tried really hard to say the MAIN downside is cleaning. Some people won't like that at all for me it doesn't bother me and is worth the effort. The only other thing is the regulator - like so many portables it isn't great and gets REALLY hot. I would buy it again without hesitation. all the best
I'm still happy with mine. I hope I described it well.. the regulators on this like most portables can be tricky and this one does run ERY hot. Once you get the hand of it I bet you'll be happy. All the best
I remember on your old grill you used to cook everything on a piece of aluminum foil because the grill was broken. I thought that was a great idea for keeping the grill clean. I've been doing that ever since and my grill stays perfectly clean. Why don't you cook on aluminum foil like you used to and then you'd have no cleaning issues?
I like the use of aluminum foil too. It makes cleanup very easy and quick - Never fun cleaning baked on barbecue sauces from a grill when you belly is full of dinner and the sun is setting.
You defeat the purpose of the infrared feature. Might as well get a regular grill and cover it with tin foil and you certainly won't get the smoke and the flavor. Might as well put a frying pan on the grill.
I also had problems with their regulator. It caught fire. The replacement is working fine, but, no no good heat control. Cleaning is a bear, but worth it for me. I use this once a week to feed about 20 senior softball players. A pound of propane lasts a month. I use a 20# hookup at home to burn off the residue after scraping. Saves the 1# for the park. Also got an adapter to refill the 1# with the 20#.
I do/did the aluminum to sometimes. It isn't the same. Burgers and chicken look more like they were boiled. I had cut slits which helps. They use to make those "grill mates?" that were pre-cut with the hole/slots. I don't see them anywhere anymore. The cost of these grills has REALLY gone up. I have the GrillMaster that we paid $160 for about 5 years ago. It's ok, but the flames can really get out of control and the thing was a bear to clean. Parts to repair it are out of sight on the cost.
So I just purchased this barbecue last week and the regulator has very little control over the gas, turning it all the way to low hardly makes a difference. Is yours the same way?
I tried to say in reviews that the regulator can be a bit shooty. Many reviews I read complained about the regulators and mine has been ok but the grill does run VERY hot. I don't think I've EVER had to go above half way. I've been lucky not to burn anything but you do have to be careful with it. I tend to use the thermometer instead of the dial. If yours is really bad I've heard that charbroil does pretty good customer service on replacements. As a side note - most everything I have known of portable grills most regulators are not that great.
I've had a number of small bbq's and none were as bad as regulator on this. I contacted Char Broil and they are sending a new regulator. Are you able to have the heat low enough that you can cook with the lid closed for any amount of time
I've heard they can be helpful and I'm not gonna argue or defend the regulators because I've read of so many complaints that I really do think I must have gotten lucky. Hopefully, the replacement one works better for you - because if it does I think you will like the grill. Yes I can cook with the lid closed but I do consider this a "pay attention" grill. lol
Hi! I am thinking about buying this grill but I'm wondering.. does the food come out tasting like it would on a regular sized bbq? I'm after that Smokey char taste but in a smaller size like this
Nice video! I ordered one of these with the carrying case instead of the road trip 225 I almost bought. This one sold me bc of the locking lid, and all the reviews complaining how hot it gets. My house gas grill can't get the sear I like on a medium cooked steak and this sucker seems like it will be perfect for that. Also liked that folks say a 12 inch cast iron skillet will fit on it, and i found a lodge griddle that pretty much fits the whole top to get further utility out of it as I camp.
I'm still happy with this grill. The only downside are the regulators can be troublesome.. but that seems to be the case with pretty much all portable propane grills.
I just bought it n far as the regulator it seems I can't regulate the temperature . It seems to cook full throttle all the time even on lowest setting .
I have heard many others say that - many of these portable propane grills don't have great regulators. I've found that these burn VERY hot. My best advice is contact Char-broil - if the regulator is faulty they have a one year warranty and I've heard they are good about sending a replacement.
Any problem with keeping low temperatures for cooking long times. Mine hits 660degrees in about 5 minutes and no matter how the temp control is, it only goes up from there. Id like to hit 200 or 300 for long hours to do some serious meats. Any advice?
Everything I have heard and seen is this grill does burn really HOT. But I haven't had the same thing you describe of it not going down at all from that high of a temp. I agree that it is tough to get it to cook low and slow. I know these, like most portables have problems with the regulators. I can handle that. I remember you mentioned that in your video and the company replaced them for those folks. I believe that. I will give it a try. Thanks for your video.
I absolutely love this grill but I will say there is one major design flaw, obviously it gets very hot and That makes perfect sense but if you try to open it by grabbing the handle overhand your fingers come within less than a quarter inch of touching the metal surface. The handle should be extended off of the lid farther so that your hands do not get close. There are many times I’ve burned my knuckles. You have to be very careful when opening this and grabbing the handle. Other than that this grill is amazing and also looks amazing
So I just ordered the grate for it do I need to.put anything on it before using it the grill itself is used already I actually found it at a goodwill for $15 so I couldn't pass it up just wondering is it any different to cure like a regular stick burner
You have to season the grill and do a "burn-in" to clear any plastic that is on it when it is made. I don't remember exactly how long so here is my initial video where I talk and show the process. hope it helps ... you got a GREAT deal! ruclips.net/video/YzclXtPOz64/видео.html
@@WanderDano yes I honestly did I do not like propane at all for my grill but for something like this I couldn't pass it up because I know one day it will come in handy to use
My issue with this grill is two fold, don't use marinade on your meat as it drips into the holes of the part the meat sits on and block them within a few minutes and it then only works like a pan on your hob with ribbed frying pan, the other major issue is the regulator that comes with the grill does not regulate the temperature - now matter what I turn it to (either using a bottle gas or the small portable gas little canisters) will got to a full 275 degrees C!! I have contacted Carbroil - no help or even a reply - and that is through their own website - would not recommend this. it is a fault in the design of the regulator
I haven't had any problems with my regulator at all. One of the things about this grill is MANY people say the opposite problem you seem to be having - in that it gets TOO hot. I have heard many of these portable grills (of any brand) often have kinda crappy regulators and have also heard that Charbroil is pretty good about sending a new one if you contact them directly. But again I haven't had that problem at all with mine. Hope that is a little bit of help.
Well 6 years later or more I just cooked on mine for the first time yesterday. Four hamburger patties and there was nothing but flames inside of their and yes a lot of smoke! And concerning the regulator yeah I think I will have to have mine replaced because it's full blast on low or high. Awesome juicy hamburgers in less than approximately 8 minutes, so I'm going to stick with it for a while and see how it does. Thanks for the review and the tips.
Kinda a bitch to clean but man it gets really hot which I find a pro. I can get char marks I can't on my regular gas grill. I can understand peoples complaints about the grate style but I like it and the stuff that does stick does end up being straight up charred to bits which scraps off well. I work at Lowes and we had it for $179, dropped to clearance to $89 but i got mine for $25. A couple of managers that just want to get rid of clearance stuff will give us 75% off clearance price so i HAD to . I do have an adapter that I got for a 2 burner stove that I added a screen to for a mini infrared heater so i already had it on hand. The regulator doesn't seem to be really functional but I use it for hot and fast cooking..
Like many of the portable propane grills the regulators are often not very good. I think I got lucky because I've heard of that problem. Supposedly, they will replace it for up to a year warranty.
I ordered a new one on Amazon it will be here on Friday. It's just this Chinese junk companies are importing. I wouldn't mind spend a little more for quality American parts and workmanship. It's not all about shareholders Char-Broil thanks
Mine burns everything. Charbroil said to cook with the lid open. They offered to SELL me another regulator. Why would I want to spend money on another reg that doesn’t work? It’s a great looking grill. It’s a great sized grill. Charbroil make good grills, this just isn’t ins of them.
Hi wander dano, I bought one of these grills, but when I have temp all the way down, it still pegs passed 650 on low. I tried to get a regulator for char broil. But then I said forget it,cuz I knew I was gonna get the same pos china made pos. If there is any info you can direct me with I'd would appreciate it. Like your videos man. Damn good job Sir
LOTS of complaints about the cheap Chinese regulator, most that it goes full hot and cannot be turned down. What I read on the RV forums was to buy a Mr Heater brand F273769 (made in Mexico) which can be found on Amazon for $12. It has a shorter stem and thus the body is closer to the grill, but it fits properly and the portable bottles still attach OK. I bought one and will try out the grill soon.
@@lltrmt Yes I have, and it seems to be no better than the original. If the tiny numbers on the orifice is the size, it has a smaller one than the original but both of mine, when on low, go right to 650F, but a little bit slower on low. I have used the grill several times here at home to cook hamburgers and keep swapping back and forth on the regulators, to no avail. I probably will not bother to take it with me on a camping trip as I have bought a Blackstone 17 inch portable griddle that works well for most everything, you just don't get that char'ed taste from being over the flame, which makes its way around the shield.
@@CharlesinGA Thanks! After playing with it some, I REALLY like the heat when I need it and seem to be getting the same result as you. I'm going to keep tinkering with it and and maybe try adding a vent to it on top. I do need a steady 300-350 for some things. It is very well contained with no venting at all.
So I just bought one and the real truth is it is so hot that cooking meat cause so much smoke and not the good tasting smoke. It makes your meat weather it be burgers or steak taste like burnt smoke. Go ahead and spend your hard erned in money on something you will be disappointed with. You cannot controll the heat to a more manageable temp. This is a big problem with portables either not hot enough or way to hot. Gerry frustrating.
As I said in my last response - once you get used to it you may be happy with it. But yes the problem with most portables are they all tend to have sub-par regulators.

Ok so 3 mins into your vid you say there is a known problem with the regulator.... I will send it back to the manufacturer.
Y0u may want to get them to send you a replacement regulator.
I have been very happy with the grill and haven't had those issues. Like most portable propanes.. the regulators have much to be desired.
mine won't go over 150C after two uses. Anyone know how to reset the regulator???????? Please.
Prime Day is Monday, will be looking for a sale.
I really like mine
Well 6 years later or more I just cooked on mine for the first time yesterday. Four hamburger patties and there was nothing but flames inside of their and yes a lot of smoke! And concerning the regulator yeah I think I will have to have mine replaced because it's full blast on low or high. Awesome juicy hamburgers in less than approximately 8 minutes, so I'm going to stick with it for a while and see how it does. Thanks for the review and the tips.
Almost all portable grills have bad regulators.. I still really really like my grill.
I agree it's a great grill - not perfect but overall a really good portable grill. :-)
My grill I can't control the temperature it's either off or full blast! no control of fuel. Char-Broil would not stand behind it.
I wish I could help but I really don't know anything more than what you did by contacting them. I guess I got lucky - I haven't had that problem.
@@CharlesinGA Is there any chance you tried the Mr. Heater F273769 and it worked? Thanks!
Doesn’t the meat gets cooked quickly but inside it is raw. How can u control temperature when cooking meat.
No not at all. If you use high heat to get a char on the outside then you lower the temp to ensure it's cooked thru
I bought a baby Webber .
those are nice
So I just bought one and the real truth is it is so hot that cooking meat cause so much smoke and not the good tasting smoke. It makes your meat weather it be burgers or steak taste like burnt smoke. Go ahead and spend your hard erned in money on something you will be disappointed with. You cannot controll the heat to a more manageable temp. This is a big problem with portables either not hot enough or way to hot. Gerry frustrating.
As I said in my last response - once you get used to it you may be happy with it. But yes the problem with most portables are they all tend to have sub-par regulators.
