Wow. Another video where you hit it outta da park. Great and timely for me. Currently I have my heart set on a Travato, but now you have me thinking about a used widebody. Good job. As you know, a good way to think about it is you live "in" a class a and c, but you live "out" of a class b. depends on what you want. What strikes me the most about your video is that you're still happy after 5 years.
thanks very much and I hope it is helpful. I remember the search process well and it can seem daunting and opinions jump from one to another. Sometimes it taking a while to track one down is a good thing because it keeps a person honing in on what works best for them. :) Yes I live OUT of it. Still being so happy with it is really a great thing. all the best and best of luck with your own search.
I'm sitting in a Walmart parking lot in West Palm Beach Florida and saw your model RV. Love this model. You give me hope that there will be the perfect RV when I'm ready to buy one. Great information.
Definitely pays to be patient and shop around. That is a very nicely laid out RV. Good deals are out there, just takes time and some luck to find them. Great video and very informative too! Not boring at all!! Very much enjoyed the tour! Thanks for sharing!!
Great video. Very informative on how one should look for an RV. I originally wanted a truck camper but at just over 6'6" I was simply too tall to fit comfortably in the ones I looked at. Finally found a class A that met my criteria. I could comfortably stand and walk around in the RV, didn't bump my head on the A/C or anything else hanging from the ceiling. I had headroom and elbow room in the shower and the RV had a full queen bed. Got it checked out by a mechanic and bought it.
Thanks so much for all your helpful information. I just reviewed this an a couple other of your videos about your RV since my search is heating up now. I feel like know more because of your videos. Thanks!
Love your toad. I had a very old class B for over 7 yrs (84 Chevy Horizon) ran great, everything worked, but had smog issue s, started to be a money pit every year I needed new tags. Looking at a 2000 leasure travel class B, has some fiberglass damage, good to hear your review. Maybe I'll look at it again, anxious to get another van , mostly for gas mileage & manuvourbility & I don't need special RV priced products.
In my opinion (and that is all it is ) Leisure Travels of this age are the best. :) Build quality and layout was my favorite of all that I saw during my search.
Thanks for sharing with us. You sure do have a nice rig there and it being a DODGE to me is the only way to go. My problem is all I seem to find are FORD and my luck with Ford has been FIX OR REPAIR DAILY !!! I am not going to give up I am going to keep looking and one day my dream RV will come around. Safe travels in your RV.
Thanks - glad you enjoyed. And honestly don't lose hope they are out there. I would also say go and see anything you can. Even if it isn't one you plan to buy it is great to get ideas and a feel for different ones. I don't hate ford but I did prefer the Dodge - especially the ones around this age.
What a great video. I have decided to go the Class B route and it's daunting on trying to figure out what's important. I have a list but it keeps changing. lol.
Thanks and that can be the hardest part. That is why I say what I really believe to be the most important thing you can do.... look at as many as you can and that will help you more than any "opinion" of a person like me. lol :)
I totally agree. I have a 1997 Leisure Travel Van with the Dodge 318 engine. Purrs like a kitten. I love everything about it. I spent 6 months renovating it. It has all the comforts we need. Best bang for the buck in today's crazy B class market.
great video, I own one after watching your video, I have a 98 leisure travel freedom wide body same color as your love this rv, , I paid 15,000 mint cond, but need a lot of work on the dodge part of it . I put another 10,000 into it. its rock now. shine like new and smell like new. added 2 leaf spring on the rear, new shocks, fix the cruse control, it came without a gen. so I put a rack on the hitch and added a honda 2200, new house air cond. tires, and a few more improvement to it. I was offer 25,000 for it and I turn it down. I was thing about buying a 5 year old class b rv. what stop me dead in my track was no outside storage, I can run 80 mph on the freeway after I improved the springs and wow it rocks.
that sounds great!!! I might need to look into leaf springs on mine too. :-) I too have sometimes considered a "newer" old Class B but... I will stick with mine too. :-)
@@WanderDano bilstein shocks will triple your ride qualities..............i did add a few leaf springs also but i had a extended xplorer 230. Aslo, air bags combined will put your handling at a Mercedes benz feel!
Good video for people looking. It took us about 2 years to determine what would work for us. I flew to Washington state 6 months ago to buy our RV and drove it back to California. It is cheaper to buy up there and I wanted a 10 cylinder engine which is not easy to find. Working on it now. Putting in 1 100w solar panel and a TV with hdmi. PleasureWay Excel TD.
Great video.! Very informative for those who know very little. Yes you could get what you want for it. The demand is there. To many people changing their life style.
Another great video Dano 👊 I would bet that the person that owned Cousin Eddie before you would be thrilled that you’re out there chasing your dreams in the van. Looking forward to your next adventure 😽
thanks very much. I would hope they are glad he isn't just a good home but went to a good home too. :) A next adventure is always a great thing. all the best
A lot of the newer Class B’s don’t have the room or good configuration as the older models do. When we were looking for an RV we almost purchased a 2000 American Cruiser RE2000, great set up, but settled on a Gulf Stream B plus because we have a young daughter. The manufacturers today need to look back at the older models and take note of how great and spacious they are. The newer ones all seem so tight and cramped. I agree with a lot you have to say about your rig!
We see it the exact same way!! These older ones are much wider and honestly I think have better set-ups. I wouldn't really want a new Sprinter chassis one.. for layout and the INSANE pricing. lol
Thank you for your video. I think your rig is perfect. I really like the white vs brown interior. Doing the van conversion sounds great but we’re not experienced or kids either so definitely looking for an affordable Class B Leisure Travel as yours. BTW we’re also from the Dayton Ohio area! Small world!
He hit the nail on the head... a new class B is an arm, leg and a kidney. I really like them, but I'll have to do a van build. If he paid 15 for that, it's a great price.
Good info. Cousin Eddie is my fav also. He's done you well really. Definitely need a good bed, and a little storage. Great for two, since most of time outside. You definitely chose well. 😊👍
thanks. Yes even with the recent maintenance it has still been great to me. :) It had some luck involved and I am really glad I didn't get frustrated during the search and settle for a different one.
Thanks, good video. I had to decide, what do I want to do with my RV, where do I want to go and who's going with me. Then I thought thru what my must haves were. Bingo, Class B!
Glad it may have helped a little. In my opinion the most important thing is for people to be realistic with themselves. I think if a person buys the "right" RV for them it will be successful but the "wrong" one for a person usually ends to not enjoying the travels.
Great vid Dano, I saw a beautiful 2015 pleasureway class b with a ford front end, the best lookin b I've ever seen just stunning but way too expensive. Im thinking of buying a new ford transit van with medium roof and length and slowly build it into an rv. Its the only way to afford something new, just do it yourself.
I have one too and bought it new in 1999 - I LOVE IT!!! Problem I have at this time is that when I moved to Korea when van was transported overseas someone (US or Korean's) have put my babe completely apart so now it is not back to normal as it was but it is still beautiful little home :-)
Great rant, thank for the shout out (past video) and request for any input on the issue I was dealing with, almost fixed. Have you modified anything? I'm toying with the idea of installing a projector so I can use it inside or outside. I am in the process of installing more led lights as well. Once I get things going I wanna do a reveal of my LT
Great video as usual. Been following you a long time now it seems. If you ever get to PEI you can park next to our pleasureway and gander at the ocean.
Wander Dano we just moved here from BC for family reasons but it has opened up a whole new area for wandering about in our Van. Love it here. If you do come and need a place to park we have a massive yard.
Excellent job! What is the clearance like for boondocking, did you put larger wheels on it to lift it a bit? Didn't know about the storage capacity. Great to know! Thank you
Thanks!! I will say like most Class B's... the clearance is not very good. Sometimes I do wish I had a big 4x4 with a truck camper or maybe a Sportsmobile. :)
Thank you for showing all the storage... the videos on RUclips from RV dealers -- really do not show the storage on used B's. I'm sold!! Dean needs to worry about his Job now. :)
LOL I really do think of all the Class B's of this basic age ... Leisure Travel has the best design, layout and build quality. Dean does a pretty good job :) He is for sure enthusiastic about them.
Nice job on the video and I love your Leisure Way. I have a 2000 Dodge Pleasure-Way Rd and I love it to but I am envious over your extra outside storage.
Our priority list began with interior ceiling height. I'm 6'4, hubby is 6'5 and we were not going to accept having to stoop inside. Next on the list was room for the kids, 2 Greyhound. Plan A was to 'sell it all' and go full time. We wanted a dishwasher and a washer/dryer. We wanted a dry bath with a shower in the bathroom. Storage. A decent kitchen. We were almost ready to drop 600K on a Class A when we realized while on a one week test run in a friend's 35' Class A that one of the dogs gets motion sickness if she can walk around in a moving space. We developed Plan B, shorter trips up to 3 weeks at a time, leaving the Greys with a house/dog sitter and taking the 1 year old Chihuahua along. We began looking at Class B and ruled them all out because of the low ceilings. We began looking at the traditional bed over the cab Class C and in researching found out they're affordable because they're junk and tend to last 5+/- years before problems. We never found a modern style Class C with features and a floor plan we liked until we found Leisure Travel Vans from Canada. We latched onto the Unity XF because - ceiling height is 6'5. LOADS of storage inside and enough outside. Mercedes cut away chassis with a diesel that can be worked on by any Benz dealer. The floor plan features 2 lounges, one up front on a slide and one in the rear. The lounge upfront becomes support for the almost king size walk around Murphy Bed at night. The standards list long, the options list short. We wanted new because we choose the colors and for the warranties, we're both as mechanically inclined as a rock. We don't mind dropping 150K with options for it because it's just what we wanted for Plan B. Once again, your 'opinion' is more like sage advice, decide what you want, research, take your time and get it right the first time!!
I liked your analysis. In fact, this RV is in my list to consider buying. How many miles did it have when you bought it? How is the engine doing now... in general, is the RV easy to maintain? And, is there road noise when driving? Thanks.
I know I am biased but I think Leisure Travel make the best Class B's in this age group. Overall, I think they put the most consideration into layout - it is like they are designed by people that use them. When it comes to the Dodge Ram 3500 of this age campervan, it would also be my first choice. The engine the 5.9L V8 is a FANTASTIC powerplant. If Dodge has a weak spot and they do it is known for sketchy transmissions and I had to do major work on the transmission but ZERO other issues with this van. It had around 60,000 miles when I got it and more than double now. I just completed a 6,000 mile cross country trip over the Rockies, Cascade mountains and back without any issues. If mine got hit by an asteroid... I'd quickly try to find another one!! lol Hope that helps. ohh.. maintenance is easy - any Dodge or really any garage can work on them - parts are easy to find and honestly I personally would avoid any Mercedes vans because they are the exact opposite from everyone I've known to have one. Sorry so long but wrapping up Leisure Travel would be my first choice and Pleasure Way would be my second. Dodge 3500 5.9L V8 would be my first choice.
Hey... your cheep to...i see these people that have a second mortgage.. although we do have a motor home we grabbed a good steel like you did. The price on new ones is very scary...springfield mo. is where my best friend lives 😊 nothing like getting a rig that you love 😉 great video Dano
thanks very much. I guess the patience part - which wasn't easy I almost gave in a just got a roadtrek a couple times, is so very important in finding the "right one" and a god deal. :) All the best and safe travels. all I know of Springfield is a hotel, the Camping World lot and the drive to the airport to turn in the rental. lol
Wander Dano Thanks so much. Could you cover some of the things people need to think of if they want to live full time in their RV? And also questions you should ask about the chassis, the insulation, etc, if you’re sure you’re buying the right kind of vehicle to live full time? For us naive rookies? Thanks so much for your informative and fun videos to watch.
I really do like your class B RV because of the space an standing room. I'm 5'8" & having some back issues so that head space would be luxury for me. I've been thinking for long time of getting one for weekend camping & maybe 2 weeks at a time. Pricing around what you paid, I'm like you, not rich by any means & even if I could afford a large motor home, your right, there;s parking issues, I just watch a YT video in which this gal wanted to tour a museum but couldn't find a parking space for her motorhome.& like you said, yours can 'fit into a regular parking space"! Gas milage sounds great too. I've watched several of your videos so I know how cousin eddie maneuvers in traffic, rain & snow. Happy you shared the info.
Yeah I think it is important to me to be able to stand up. If you have back issues getting in and out could be tough. It is about 4ft at the side double doors so it requires bending. The ability to park anywhere is a great bonus. So is the never have to worry about where to camp - some older state and national parks are limited for bigger RVs. Also, in some places you can get the better (older) good view camping spots because bigger RVs just won't fit. :) Thanks for your comment and I hope at times I am a little helpful. :) all the best
Cool vid. Daily search took me 2 years to find my Dodge Xplorer XLW. Wanted it for the width. I'm 6' and can lay across the back. And I love the duallys. Not sure if I agree that Leisure Travels are "the" best. Maybe 2nd best. Lol!
I have not one bad word to say about the Xplorer!! :) they are great and I think with about the same bed area as the LT. I will also say the dually's are great!! I will agree to 1 and 1a - without a distinction on which one. lol all the best and happy travels. :)
It took me 1.5 years to find a 99 LT with low mileage. If your Class B is made on the Dodge B3500 chassis by all means get the aftermarket steering box bearing stabilizer. Takes the slop out of the steering wheel when driving on the freeway.
My 1997 LT Freedom Widebody has the Safe-T-Plus steering stabilizer installed from the LTV factory.. I got the impression from the owners manual that these were standard around that time.. I can imagine that it was also standard on the later models. Mine also has a rear sway bar, helping in preventing sway and bad handling in cross winds on the freeways.
You are correct - it is sad that I had forgotten but yes I checked and mine also has the factory installed Safe-T-plus stabilizer. I knew I didn't forget that I have a sway bar lol - it helps but cross winds are still not a friend. lol
I have a Dodge Xplorer I love mine too. My personal preference is not too have so much storage because i would keep too much stuff. I’m a single person with 3 fold out chairs. I have 2 more somewhere. Why do I have so many chairs.

a leisure travel vans promotional video shows that their class b wide bodies have a built-in roll cage to protect the occupants in case of a catastrophic accident, like rolling the vehicle.
We will eventually get a permanent base and will want a class B, too. Yes, standing room and a permanent bed are important. The bathroom is important, altho a sower might not be. We can use the plastic bag thing. An opening back door is something I had not thought of but will mention to Wolf. I guess he has his own ideas about engines, which is his area, not mine. Light interior! Yes! This makes a difference no matter what size your rv is. Wolf is in love with mahogany. That is what he is using to face the cabinets. It is a beautiful wood. But the place feels so much more open during construction than it is going to feel once the dark fascia is on.
I have often thought of a travel trailer as a "base camp" too. I think it comes down to determining ones priorities and making sure so it doesn't end up with a buyers remorse thing.
Wander Dano Well, at your age, no decision has to be permanent. Since most campgrounds do yearly leases and not site sales, you would not even find it very difficult to change locations. Your remorse might be seller's remorse from selling your house. At our age, a place that is always waiting for us where we can winter near family and take care of medical issues might be a good thing. We fulltime in our class A, but we have seen an Airstream trailer we would seriously consider as a base. We would not even need a vehicle that could pull it. There are companies that will move it at reasonable prices.
Yes - I always hope to not sell this RV. :) Even if life changes I think I will still have a use for it. :) Yes I know someone who had a company move and set up her 5th wheel when she didn't have a tow vehicle.
Wow! Really great video, Dan! You know that you don't have to sell ME on Dodge Class Bs! Haha!! It's an ongoing search! I would be giddy as hell to find an LT! The storage is much better than any other of that era! Let me ask you this, Dan, if you pulled out your bed, what would remain in that back area? Are there water storage tanks or anything else, or, is it a clean slate?
Thanks glad you liked it. I hope you may be able to track one down. :) As for the bed... on what would be the drivers side is all the electrical components and on the passenger side is the water pump, water heater and furnace. The changes made from the original out of the factory did not change any of those things. Basically, they just put platforms over the boxes housing those items. I hope that makes sense. The water tank is under the RV - basically right under the double doors on the passenger side.
Question-in a used RV one does not know what is going to breakdown due to wear and tear-so did camping world tell you where in the USA u can take it for repairs at no cost(warranty)?
Sure any used vehicle has the risk of what might breakdown. It was about 14 years old when I purchased it and no I did not get an extended warranty. As for repairs the "make it move" parts lol are standard Dodge Ram 3500 van and repairs for issues above my ability can be handled by basically any mechanic or Dodge service center. As for the "RV" part repairs any issues also above my ability can be handled at a RV repair shop. My main basic point is brand new will surely give you piece of mind and fewer reliability concerns up front, but the price of new has to be a determining factor. I got this for 15 thousand bucks, before the huge price increase of Class B's. A brand new Class B can be anywhere from 100 to 150 thousand making it economically unfeasable for me personally. I believe with good preventative this can last a lot longer and honestly I also prefer the body style of this RV over the more expensive brand new ones. So in my far too long of an answer of what I admitted in the video I took a roll of the dice and got lucky with this particular Class B that I could also afford.
@@WanderDano thx for the reply. Yes newer ones are way too expensive. I can afford huge monthly payments but like u said i like the older models. I need a dealership to buy one from cause i don't have a lot of loose cash. Know any in Arizona or Nevada. Ps i am from Brooklyn.
@@mightyboy527 My best advice would be to check out rvtrader.com - they tend to have lots of dealerships for RVs. :-) Brooklyn is a great place - very different from when I was there but... need to get back there one of these days. all the best and happy Class B hunting. lol
Yup! I couldn't be happier. All the Leisure Travel RV parts still work awesome and the only real issue I've had was transmission - but that is the Dodge aspect of the RV. :-)
Great video Dano! I currently own a 1990 Roadtrek which I love but I'm looking to buy something newer and I really like your van. You might have said so but I maybe I missed it...what year is it and how many miles on it when you bought it?
Could you tell us what was wrong with the 1st Leisure Travel you saw? I'm curious if it was mechanical and we should watch out for that when shopping or just something in the interior that was obvious?
no no the problem was the care taken by the owner. It wasn't an issue of don't buy this because of an inherent problem, if that makes sense. But it still showed me that the "bones" were great.
I've done a couple other videos on how the shower set up works. Basically there is a shower drain in the floor, you have a shower curtain rail on the ceiling, attach the curtain and bingo there is the shower. lol
There's a 1997 Dodge Leisuretravel widebody for sale on Mpls. Mn R.V site w/ 84xxx miles for $15000 but dang, to soon for me. Got 5 yrs. left to wait. It is mauve and has the 4 seats like u mentioned and the back door. w/ dinette sleeping in the back. I want it sooo bad, lol Body looks near perfect as does the inside. Ad says runs great and newer tires if anyone is looking.
That is a pretty good deal. I'd say if you could do one now and use it for short trips you may turn out to be happy. But I do know it's not always that easy. :) Hope someone looking reads thru and sees your comment. Nice of you to share. :) all the best
Yes - many times. I have been it in at 10 below and it is well insulated and did fine. My most recent cold trip was at 5 below and it stays perfectly fine inside. :)
I live in Arizona in a similar van. 92 Dodge Xplorer and as long as the ac works it’s fine. Mine freezes me out. Its recommended you plug during the heat if you use the ac. I have seen more rvs out here with no acs then I do with. There just well vented. Depends on the person.
One more question. Do you sleep crosswise or lengthwise like the twins were set up when you bought it? I'm an inch or so taller than you and in my Roadtrek I can sleep lengthwise on the driver's side without a problem if I have it set up as a twin. Or with a full size bed do you sleep in the middle and so don't have any problems stretching out. Thanks again!
The bed is set up crossway. I just didn't like the lengthwise set up and also it wasn't like a twin it was very skinny. My real mattress is like a short queen from a hotel and is double sided so I flip it every couple months. I have plenty of room.
ummm honestly... you must be buying it from someone who has ZERO idea what they have. My 99 LT easily lists for 20K online and an 04 commonly goes for 35 grand. 12K boarders on inconceivable. lol
@@WanderDano old couple down the road from my grandparents house. They're in their early 70s and never use it anymore. It's been sitting in a carport for a while but everything works and the tires are brand new.
Damn it.. videos like this are making it down right painful not to sell everything right now and get my rv!!! I am 4 yrs from retirement and it's KILLIN ME not to get one right now! Thanks so much for the insight. I definitely want a class b with a dry bath. Like the idea that it goes anywhere and I agree with you... a Dodge or Ford is what I want to go for. No Mercedes or diesel for me.
I don't like telling people what to do.... but... lmao If you can financially afford it.. why wait? You can still enjoy great shorter trips and add the incentive to be ready to go when ready to go. :) all the best
LT gets better reviews from most. The bath could be an issue for some but I don't shower it in all that often so the better use of interior space has worked for me.
🥀Greetings from Saipan😃👍, I really admire your RV and dreamed to own one and am gearing up to GET OUT of my Nest here on Saipan and 🛫flying soon n want to explore with you😃👍rving.
You mentioned the gas mileage of a Class C. Because of the terrible gas mileage, my sister and her husband have never taken theirs more than about a 50 mile round trip. To me that defeats the whole reason I wanted an RV. Being able to stand up is a huge issue. It is also why I nixed the van idea, not to mention the potty issue. The white interior is one of the major things that drew me to Cousin Eddie. Outside storage is not one of Casita's strong suits. I might be able to haul a 6 pack of beer in my outside storage. However, I do have plenty inside and I have the bonus of the storage I have in my tow vehicle.
Yeah - not much sense if you don't go more than 50 miles. I always wished I had kept my old suburban - thought it would have been cool to put a westy pop up top on it. lol Right - with a casita your tow becomes important storage. :)
They seem to enjoy it so I try not to be too judgmental. You truly would have had a unique camping vehicle with a Suburban with a pop up. I have seen several people add them to vans but never a Suburban. It would have been cool.
I didn't mean it in the way it came off -- I guess if someone likes going to the same place - that is fine. :) Yeah - I shoulda kept that vehicle but I kept the one that still had a payment to make. lol
Oh no. I knew what you were saying. I guess I was trying to say that I think it is stupid for limiting themselves so much. They went too far into debt to buy the RV so now they can't afford to travel in it. I have to keep reminding myself that it is their life and I have no right to judge them. Look at the bright side. Cousin Eddie was ready to go when you got him. You were able to hit the road immediately. You didn't have to take the time to build it out like you would have the Suburban.
I agree - I often disagree with what people do for how I would want to do things but I usually am quick to understand we all have different and reasoned views. :) well... most people. lol
I know standing up sold me on mine. 2003 leisure freedom 2a model wide body . Good insights yep that what I like is that storage in back. Grill fits etc. I took and blocked off part of side back storage so I use that for the black grey water hose....a lot more room. Maintence yep did the ball joint dodge is famous for and checked the rest. Easy to align. Layout sells... New leisure freedom Mercedes has slide but exp! Mine cost 22 k with 97k You ever try a mpg programmer?
Standing up is simple but i just thought not being about to do that would bug me. I do really think the storage is the best. Mine has a storage compartment on the back bumper for my waste hose. Ohhh.. I've done the ball joints AND control arms. lol That still isn't a bad price for yours. I have not tried a programmer - I would like any info or insights you have on those. :)
Wander Dano had a programmer on 2013 chev Silverado shifts better and 27 mpg with the 5.3 motor. Bully dog is for dodge thinking of one they cost 350. Automotive concepts sells them you find online, Minnesota based company. Good service.
I own a 1998 Roadtrek Popular 200 and feel as though its way overrated. The build quality overall is sup-par. I think Roadtrek took some shortcuts....point in case the put the Genny and house battery underneath; near the back, making it difficult to install cables for solar and servicing the Genny. And no day n night shades, just cheap floral pattern curtains. When I do sell mine, I will be looking for a Leisure Travel...the best made class b...along with Xplorer.
I had no intentions of saying anything bad about other brands but I will say I do feel that the Leisure Travel has excellent build quality. I also don't understand why on earth they put the genny underneath. Seems like so many brand new ones are doing that now. Mine also really just has the cheap curtains - I think it was typical of all from that time frame. I think you are right -- Leisure Travel and Xplorer are great. all the best
I think he really does make a good point and something I have touched on... seriously and truly look at as many different ones you can. I have met a LOT of people with buyers remorse on picking the wrong one for them. :)

This was a very confusing review. For someone who is trying to buy a class B RV, you really confuse me. In one breath you say it’s all about money and you like all the fancier RVs out there but you can’t afford them so you stuck with the leisure. And in another breath you said the leisure was the best one. So what is the bottom line? If you were a multimillionaire, which RV would you buy?
Actually both things can be true. I think the reality of 150 grand for a brand new Class B has to matter to most people out there. Under the hood, suspension and fancy new bells and whistles of brand new ones are great. As for the body style, storage and layout I prefer my RV. When the RV is parked my RV wins hands down in my opinion, more room storage and better layout. But it is 20 years old so obviously newer ones drive better. If I had to replace with brand new and money wasn't an option I would get a Leisure Travel Unity. But it isn't really considered a Class B any more, most of us think of them as a B but even LT calls them a Class C. I am not a fan of any on the sprinter chassis. I have made a few tour videos of mine and pretty sure in every single one of them I say I would gladly pick this one over the newer models for those reasons. If I was a multimillionaire I doubt I would travel by RV tho. lol
Wander Dano Oh man! Why not? I’m a millionaire and I’m definitely planning on traveling via RV as soon as my husband retires. I also love the leisure unity. That’s what I plan on getting . Once you are a millionaire, you realize things don’t make you happy. I’ve had the nicest cars in the nicest houses but I prefer to live in an RV! Good to know that you would stick with the leisure!!
I should have added that - I have measurements in an older video. But at 6'2 you'd be good - barely. I measured mine and it's 6'3. So any older model Class B's you'd want to check them out.
West Palm is a nice place to be sitting in a Walmart! lol I know there are still some out there to be found - best of luck in finding yours. :-)
Congrats on one of the best "tour of my RV" videos I have seen. Thanks for showing me a video of an RV that might fit what I want. Happy Trails.
Thanks and glad you enjoyed it. I have done some other - much longer - tours to show all the measurements. Hope it was helpful. All the best
Definitely pays to be patient and shop around. That is a very nicely laid out RV. Good deals are out there, just takes time and some luck to find them. Great video and very informative too! Not boring at all!! Very much enjoyed the tour! Thanks for sharing!!
Very true! It also pays to look at a BUNCH first. glad you enjoyed
Yeah being tall can make it tough to find the right one - but as you say there are the "right" ones out there. congrats :)
Thanks so much for all your helpful information. I just reviewed this an a couple other of your videos about your RV since my search is heating up now. I feel like know more because of your videos. Thanks!
Very glad if it has been even a little bit of help or perspective. best of luck :-)
Another greatly informative video Dan! Cousin Eddie is a totally awesome Class B gem...this really was a steal at $15K buddy! 👌👍✌🏻😎👏🏻
thanks - glad you liked it and I am wise enough to be grateful of my good fortune. Patience paid off. :)
Wander Dano Yes indeed it did
Love your toad.
That is why I say what I really believe to be the most important thing you can do.... look at as many as you can and that will help you more than any "opinion" of a person like me. lol :)
Lots of great info, Dano. I enjoyed this and your enthusiasm for Cousin Eddy.
thanks! I think it shows why a person needs to pick the right RV for themselves. :)
I totally agree. I have a 1997 Leisure Travel Van with the Dodge 318 engine. Purrs like a kitten. I love everything about it. I spent 6 months renovating it. It has all the comforts we need. Best bang for the buck in today's crazy B class market.
Mine is the 360 engine (5.9L) and I think it is a great motor too! I truly do prefer it to the newer sprinter Class B's.
great video, I own one after watching your video, I have a 98 leisure travel freedom wide body same color as your love this rv, , I paid 15,000 mint cond, but need a lot of work on the dodge part of it .
Congrats. I know that happens a lot in California - then they still get you on tax and title. lol
Tell me about it. Sales tax 9.25%. Paid at the DMV when I registered it and a smog test!
I remember from when I lived there.
Great video.! Very informative for those who know very little. Yes you could get what you want for it. The demand is there. To many people changing their life style.
Glad you enjoyed. Hope I never have to trade it. :)
I wouldn't really want a new Sprinter chassis one.. for layout and the INSANE pricing. lol
@@WanderDano Exactly! The set up on the older ones are far better then the new Sprinter vans.
Thank you for your video. I think your rig is perfect. I really like the white vs brown interior. Doing the van conversion sounds great but we’re not experienced or kids either so definitely looking for an affordable Class B Leisure Travel as yours. BTW we’re also from the Dayton Ohio area! Small world!
thanks! It works for me. There are still good ones out there to be found. Sorry about the Dayton thing! lmao joke - Dayton is easy to make fun of. :)
Wander Dano sure hope to find one that’s reasonably priced like yours! Yup was surprised when you said you’re from Dayton. Small world.
I hope you are able to track one down. :) It is a small world. all the best
He hit the nail on the head... a new class B is an arm, leg and a kidney. I really like them, but I'll have to do a van build. If he paid 15 for that, it's a great price.
he did pay 15K and feels fortunate every single day. lol
Muy bonita🤗
My husband and I are planning to hit the road too...he’s 6’4” thanks for the info...very helpful
glad to be of a little help. :-)
Thank you! Im just getting started in my search. I knew I wanted a class B and you answered a lot of questions I had. I'm 5'4. Yeahhhh
I'm glad there was some helpful stuff for you. :) All the ebst in your RV search.
Thanks for this down to Earth common sense video. I am going to start looking for these.
Hope it was helpful - best of luck in your search.
You stayed on topic. Awesome and informative video
lol thanks :)
Great vid Dano, I saw a beautiful 2015 pleasureway class b with a ford front end, the best lookin b I've ever seen just stunning but way too expensive. Im thinking of buying a new ford transit van with medium roof and length and slowly build it into an rv. Its the only way to afford something new, just do it yourself.
a self built on a transit van is a great way to go. :)
I have one too and bought it new in 1999 - I LOVE IT!!! Problem I have at this time is that when I moved to Korea when van was transported overseas someone (US or Korean's) have put my babe completely apart so now it is not back to normal as it was but it is still beautiful little home :-)
Cool !! Guessing you may have the only one in Korea. :-)
No problem. Hope you did get it figured out.
I have done a few small projects and mods but nothing all that major.
Great info. Love that brand from what I have seen online. Will be looking into one in the next year!
Not just because I own one but I do think Leisure Travels are as good as they get. :-)
Love your video and the way you tink
thanks
Great video as usual. Been following you a long time now it seems. If you ever get to PEI you can park next to our pleasureway and gander at the ocean.
thanks. PEI has been on my wish list for a couple years now - hoping one of these days. :)
Wander Dano we just moved here from BC for family reasons but it has opened up a whole new area for wandering about in our Van. Love it here. If you do come and need a place to park we have a massive yard.
thanks very much - I have heard great things and seen things on TV and online. I bet it is even better in real life.
Your overview was really helpful - thank you!
glad you enjoyed. :-)
@@WanderDano me too! But expensive.
You made alot of great points. I've been looking online for well over a year. My problem is I'm in a power chair.
Thanks and I bet that can make it tough for you to find one for who. I hope one of these days soon one comes along in your search. All the best
Very nice van...
I chose a 05 Roadtrek for full time... it's funny, to me it was not designed for that, but I sure love it!
Safe travels
Thanks and I agree.. I have a feeling the designers probably didn't think of people full-timing in Class B's but it isn't that hard. :)
Hi Dan! Good to see you again. Thanks so much for the editorial! Did you get to the RTR?
Glad you enjoyed. Nope - no RTR for me
Nice job on the video and I love your Leisure Way. I have a 2000 Dodge Pleasure-Way Rd and I love it to but I am envious over your extra outside storage.
thanks and again zero insult to other great Class B's. :) I will say that Leisure Travel knocked the storage aspect out of the park.
Once again, your 'opinion' is more like sage advice, decide what you want, research, take your time and get it right the first time!!
your decision makes perfect sense.
@@WanderDano Thank you !
@@SAkash-hj1jl NO problem - happy van shopping! :)
Hey... your cheep to...i see these people that have a second mortgage.. although we do have a motor home we grabbed a good steel like you did.
:) All the best and safe travels. all I know of Springfield is a hotel, the Camping World lot and the drive to the airport to turn in the rental. lol
Wander Dano lol😁
Nice seeing a glove in your stash, I’ve run into a few impromptu games I wish I’d packed mine.
I always take mine along... just in case. :)
What about air conditioning and humidity issues? AWESOME review, thanks.
I have an AC unit and also a small dehumidifier to handle humidity. :)
Funny you say that.. I should have video on the full time topic posted in a week or so. :)
Wander Dano I know Brother. I was only kidding!
I know... :) But really they are great but just so hard to find - like you know 2 YEARS !! lol
I'm sold thanks for the video and info!
I still advise to go see a bunch of them or similar brands and find what might work best for you..This one has been everything I could have hoped for.
@@WanderDano yes I had planned to go to an RV show
Thanks for a very informative video
glad you enjoyed.
Wow thanks so much for this video - you answered a lot of questions and concerns for me as I’m debating the rv lifestyle and all it entails 😊
:) glad if it was a little helpful. all the best
Thats a great van. How many miles were on it when you bought it also what size bed did you fit in the back and where are your golf clubs? 😁
Thanks! umm 1. about 60K when I got it 2. I have a short queen in it 3. I don't golf... lol
thanks for the vidoe, i'm looking to upgrade from a teardrop, i'm 6'1" and would like a little more space, currently looking at a 21ft class C
A Class C is always a good option but at 6'1" you could deal with the ceiling height in Class B's as well.
It took me 1.5 years to find a 99 LT with low mileage. If your Class B is made on the Dodge B3500 chassis by all means get the aftermarket steering box bearing stabilizer. Takes the slop out of the steering wheel when driving on the freeway.
I haven't had a problem with highway steering but I may look into it. thanks!
I wonder if you already have one installed from the previous owner.
To be honest not sure - they kept pretty good records and I don't have any record of it.
I knew I didn't forget that I have a sway bar lol - it helps but cross winds are still not a friend. lol
thanks .....glad you found what worked for you....
thanks. :)
Thanks. You are so helpful. Still looking for my dream.
Thanks very much. :) I do hope there was some help to the video and best of luck with your search. When you find "your" RV you will know. all the best
I really like your choice can you tell me what year and model I really like this better than what I have seen. Thank you
Mine is a 1999 Leisure Travel Widebody :)
I have a Dodge Xplorer I love mine too. My personal preference is not too have so much storage because i would keep too much stuff. I’m a single person with 3 fold out chairs. I have 2 more somewhere. Why do I have so many chairs.
Xplorer's are really nice too!! Never a bad word to say about those :)
started witha Xplorer m230 XL -check my youtube channel shameless xplorer------ruclips.net/video/ETQITGkaREE/видео.htmlthere are a fw videos and AWESOME in the END:
a leisure travel vans promotional video shows that their class b wide bodies have a built-in roll cage to protect the occupants in case of a catastrophic accident, like rolling the vehicle.
:)
Great information, enjoy your tour.
thanks - glad you enjoyed :)
🥀you are owesome, fortunate and I LIKED the way you Laugh🤣🤣🤣👍
main thing I agree with is the fortunate part. lol
One of my favorite videos of yours so far!!!!!!!
thanks very much! :)
Terri Saint-Amour doesn't he look like a famous actor!
I probably don't want to know. lol
Wander Dano let's just say you could've been Tom Hanks's body double in the movie "Castaway!"
never heard that before lol
:-) Brooklyn is a great place - very different from when I was there but... need to get back there one of these days. all the best and happy Class B hunting. lol
Great informative video. Has this RV been reliable since you bought it?
Yup! I couldn't be happier. All the Leisure Travel RV parts still work awesome and the only real issue I've had was transmission - but that is the Dodge aspect of the RV. :-)
What is the Year of Yours Please? I never saw one with a basement of any size.
99 Leisure Travel Widebody :-)
Thanks for letting me know
:-)
Great video Dano! I currently own a 1990 Roadtrek which I love but I'm looking to buy something newer and I really like your van. You might have said so but I maybe I missed it...what year is it and how many miles on it when you bought it?
Thanks - glad you liked it. Mine is a 99 Leisure Travel Widebody. Remembering back I think it had like 56K miles.
Great video and very informative. Did you consider a 4x4?
Thanks. No not really. I saw a couple online - a Sportsmobile would be great tho.
Great advice and video. Thank you!
thanks - and glad you enjoyed. :)
Great info but I wish I could have had a better view of how the shower works. Thanks and enjoy!!!
I've done a couple other videos on how the shower set up works. Basically there is a shower drain in the floor, you have a shower curtain rail on the ceiling, attach the curtain and bingo there is the shower. lol
@@WanderDano thank you.
Have you ever camped in extreme climates? I'm curious to know how well vans hold cold and warm air?
Yes - many times. I have been it in at 10 below and it is well insulated and did fine. My most recent cold trip was at 5 below and it stays perfectly fine inside. :)
I live in Arizona in a similar van. 92 Dodge Xplorer and as long as the ac works it’s fine. Mine freezes me out. Its recommended you plug during the heat if you use the ac. I have seen more rvs out here with no acs then I do with. There just well vented. Depends on the person.
You are right it does depend on the person. My AC runs fine off the genny but being in the desert.. I'd have to run the AC. lol
❤👍 you have a nice Rv!💕💕💕
thanks :)
Just found a 2004 Freightliner diesel Leisure Travel with 79K miles for 18K. Good deal or no?
If everything works or (mostly works) I'd say that is a VERY good deal!
@@WanderDano everything works. I talked them down to 12K.
ummm honestly... you must be buying it from someone who has ZERO idea what they have.
@@WanderDano you have Instagram? I'll send you the pictures.
5'10" to 6'2" must be the ideal height to be in these sized RV's (and Rialta, Coachmen etc).
Yes - I've done tour videos and 6'2" is the limit at 6'3" someone will touch the ceiling.
Thank you. Very informative.
Glad you enjoyed
Well done! Practical advise in the best K.I.S.S. method! Chin thing, please. Journey mercies...
thanks and chins scratched :)
Damn it.. videos like this are making it down right painful not to sell everything right now and get my rv!!!
Great video ... I want a Leisure travel
I highly recommend. There are some to be found out there. :)
Very helpful info! Thanks! :)
glad if it helped a little. :) all the best
LT is like Roadtrek, but more expensive. Hate the bath situation...
LT gets better reviews from most. The bath could be an issue for some but I don't shower it in all that often so the better use of interior space has worked for me.
i pray ..this is what i pray for...with my cat's..and where are yours????not a home without cat's..
they are still out there and can be found. the cats weren't interested in waking up for a video. :)
Making a cat live in a r.v. would be torture. Cats need miles to roam
Great Video. : )
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Glad you enjoyed. :)
Thanks! Good video 😊
glad you enjoyed.

Thank you!
No problem :)
What size bed did you put in there
Good information.
thanks
Thanks Dano 👍🏽
no problem :)
Very informative thank you
glad if it was helpful - all the best. :)
Mine cost 22 k with 97k
You ever try a mpg programmer?
Standing up is simple but i just thought not being about to do that would bug me. I do really think the storage is the best. Mine has a storage compartment on the back bumper for my waste hose. Ohhh.. I've done the ball joints AND control arms. lol That still isn't a bad price for yours. I have not tried a programmer - I would like any info or insights you have on those. :)
I would too! Haha! I need to learn all that I can from y'all!!
that is the BEST part of all this YT stuff... sharing and learning. :)
Wander Dano had a programmer on 2013 chev Silverado shifts better and 27 mpg with the 5.3 motor. Bully dog is for dodge thinking of one they cost 350. Automotive concepts sells them you find online, Minnesota based company. Good service.
I am going to look into that - thanks!
King of all BLACKS~I agree! I'd be happy to own either one of them!
started witha Xplorer m230 XL -check my youtube channel shameless xplorer------ruclips.net/video/ETQITGkaREE/видео.htmlthere are a fw videos and AWESOME in the END:
Another topic.
Ultimate Eggslut Sandwich recipe on youtube. Mayonnaise and siracho mixed together for the dressing.
lol good but... the mayo just would get in the way. :)
Nice video!!
glad you enjoyed
Do some vids with CheapRV Living
i've seen a couple of his videos and his are good stuff we just do things a little different
Good to know that you would stick with the leisure!!
lol you are most likely the only millionaire who watches my YT videos. Hope it was a little helpful - all the best
Wander Dano LOL maybe! Although my hubby watches too 😹😹😹😹
:-)
Very good video.
:) thanks
How high is the inside? Can a 6'2 guy stand up?
I should have added that - I have measurements in an older video. But at 6'2 you'd be good - barely. I measured mine and it's 6'3. So any older model Class B's you'd want to check them out.
