Quick trick I use spray vinegar with lemon juice then let the grill get very hot and use dawn soap with baking soda comes out brand spanking new if u don't have baking soda that's fine but trust me the baking soda eats the dirt n grime n also makes a huge difference.

I’ve had a char broiler commercial for 15 years. It’s not an infrared but it’s been very good. As long as you take good care of it, it will last a long time. The commercial series also gets you
    Lifetime replacement burners.

I have a char broil grill and to keeps things from flaming up I put a sheet of heavy aluminium foil on the grill. I also punch holes between the burners to keep the grease from flaring up. I would put a hole in the front and one on the rear. When I am threw all I have to do is wrap the foil up and throw it away. The grill stays clean for the most part.

Char broil products seem to be the best consumer grade grilling equipment available. I was given an old patio bistro electric… it was in bad shape & worked for about a year. I just replaced the element and fixed a ground fault in the controller… it’s 10 years old… cooks fantastic.

I have a 6 year old 2-burner Tru infrared model and it cooks as good as day 1. The Z-grillls are due for a change soon. It gets up to temp very fast, cooks the outside perfectly without drying up and the juices fall into the tray and sizzle off adding extra flavor to whatever you're cooking without messing up the burners or fire box. The burners are mint after 6 years which I've never seen in a grill. This bbq was originally $179 when I got it on special... Incredible value.

Years ago when my father in law moved to a smaller house he gave us his big Weber grill, so we bought him one of these for his new place. He passed 12/2018 and gave us this one too. I used it some last year and am giving it a serious shot this season to see if I will use this one or the Weber which needs some internal parts replaced. This Char broil grill is different, works and cooks differently (seems to smoke somewhat too) so I am adjusting to it, and will give it a real good shot as I do want to like this grill but time will tell which one I stick with.

@@Michaelsbackyardmarina Thanks! I know that some of the smoking today was on purpose because I saw that you should spray Canola oil on the plates with the holes in them to "season" them, don't know if my father in law ever did that so I did it as it said you can do it anytime so I did that and let it crank away on high to burn a lot of stuff off. I'll have to see how it operates after doing that.

It would still look pretty new if you wiped it down and cleaned it after you’ve made a mess. Also recommend using a vegetable canola or peanut oil to keep the cooking grates seasoned and clean. They wouldn’t be rusted if you did that and a lot of the food wouldnt stick like that. Those are made of cast iron and should be treated much like a cast iron skillet. If you can’t/won’t do the regular maintenance or clean it after every use then buy a grill with stainless grates.

My Infrared CharBroil didn't use the cast iron grates, you cooked directly on the Infrared panels.
I loved it at first but found the grates had to be cleaned too often.
The instructions said to just set everything on high and burn it off but that just didn't work.
After about three years the grates were completely rusted out and too expensive to replace, if bought individually the replacement grates were almost as much as a new grill.
I just put a regular grate on it and used it for a few more years.

It’s good you clean the emitter plates but if you want them to last long and not rust then I recommend seasoning them every time you clean them with the high pressure washer aka put high heat oil on them.
Also why don’t you have a thermometer to check meat temp? That ruins the one you cut in half to check if it’s done.

    • @deinpapa3769

maybe should get some knowledge first how to season your cast iron grates.... pretty easy to do, burn everything off .... let it cool down and rob with some oil.
burn remainings off to get that patina going again. And never ever use a hard brush like stainless steel on that.

    • @vtphan2012
      @vtphan2012 3 года назад +1

@@Michaelsbackyardmarina I appreciate your effort, but power washing grill grates is a sign that they are hard to clean. I’ve looked at these at Lowe’s / Home Depot and always wonder about how to clean the grates. Unlike the traditional grates where foods just fall down, with these, the foods are more likely to get stuck and it seems a hassle to clean them, compared to the traditional grates.

Hate the wide gaps on those factory grids; lousy for grilling hamburgers. Buy two pieces of diamond mesh lath at a welding shop and lay ‘em over the factory grids to keep hamburger pieces and other small things from falling through. They also leave excellent grill marks. Have done that for the past 45 years.
