Großartig! Die beste, die einfühlsamste Version, die ich jemals gehört habe! Scott Joplin wäre von diesem Interprten, Dario Ronchi, begeistert gewesen.
You are by far my favourite pianist on RUclips, first saw you when you played maple leaf rag and I decided to learn it myself. This fills me with even more inspiration!
@Dario Ronchi fantastic playing very good, I love playing the entertainer and the maple leaf rag too, it sounds so much better when played at the right tempo, which is what Scott Joplin mentioned on his music scores,,I find personally if ragtime is played fast, it loses that ragging effect, so I humbly speaking always now play these pieces in the right tempo, just my humble opinion, and ur performance of the entertainer and the maple leaf rag were the correct tempo,,great playing, greetings from wales uk.
@@JustusWpiano Tom didn't play ragtime seriously, he played it in his own style and he didn't particularly like Joplin either. James Scott was more up his alley.
OMG - finally a person who truly *interprets* Joplin! I heard your Maple Leaf Rag and had to check this out - absolutely LOVE it! It tells a story. I've never heard that before! Bravo!!
Hey Dario! Long time no see!! A well deserved sequel to your Maple Leaf Rag (one of the best versions out there, if not the best) . Superb playing, really nice setting. Keep posting. Cheers
Beautifully done. Love the phrasing... if such things exists in instrumental music. Love the rise and fall, almost a coy reluctance to grant just a few more few more measures of pure magic.
Man, so good to see you're back with some more ragtime! Your Maple Leaf Rag recording is, in my opinion, the most accurate ever made so it's great to see yet another fantastic performance!
Wonderfully refreshing treatment of this Joplin masterpiece! This is another of Joplin's work players usually rush through. Your tempo gives a whole new sound, not like the usual "Western saloon" mashing of the keys most give it. I'd love to hear you do more Joplin.
Yes, I agree with you. Joplin indicated "not fast" and therefore, not being a "tempo di marcia" as in Maple Leaf Rag, it is understood that joplin wanted to leave some freedom to the interpreter. There are many signs of dynamics and many "piano" that turn into "forte" and "fortissimo". it is therefore clear that the piece must be interpreted with typical techniques of classical music as Joplin always dreamed
That's wonderful when someone is consciously aware of the desire of a composer an adhere to his desires and intentions. It's not easy to do. Years ago the ancient classical composers complained that there intentions were not respected, so some conducters invited the composers to rehearsals. But sir God has Blessed you with a Gift, and your playing has touched the SOULS OF MANY .
i didn't expect the occasional rubato with this type of music, but it works, as do your contrasting dynamic ranges. You offer a new, more interesting way to hear this music.
Dario Ronchi brilliantly done! Now let me yammer at you one more time: you MUST do The Dill Pickles rag by Charles l Johnson because it's an amazing piece to tickle the ivories with!
Dario plays in such a dignified way, at first I thought it really didnt fit this type of music but I think its a cool variation to how its normally played
Have you ever thought about doing a video performing Valse Septembre? I’d LOVE to see what you’d do with that one! You’re my favorite pianist on RUclips sir! Much love xoxo
Record a selection Scott Joplin's rags and I will definitely buy the CD (or digital)! I think you play them exactly as they should be played. Scott Joplin himself said: "Never play ragtime fast". I hate the speed-contest versions!
I agree that this is brilliant. Just brilliant. It is played at the speed Joplin wanted it played (not too fast - circa 72 on the metronome). I don't say this about many performances on you tube, but I really think this is very good. The trick is not to play it too fast and to reflect within the piece I think.
2:02 there are a few notes that got skipped around here that I’ve heard in every other version I have ever listened to and my ears just can’t get past it.
Hi Dario Ronchi, I am making another comment because your playing is beautiful. I like your ragtime especially. May I suggest elite syncopations for your next joplin piece? It's a lovely and catchy tune I'm sure you'll play beautifully. Thanks :D
Buon giorno. Complimenti , per il tipo di piano che utilizza cosa ne pensa di suonare Solace di scott joplin . Penso sia in sintonia con lo steinway . Bravo
Nice :-) ... I can play most of this but not as well as you and inspires me to go back and 1) learn how to play it better 2) learn the whole piece! Pineapple Rag is my next favourite Scott Joplin tune, be good to hear you play this although Vinheteiro does it justice on his channel
very well done! Do you take requests by any chance haha? If yes i would love to see and hear you play Wall Street Rag by Scott Joplin, that Rag is misinterpreted by so many pianists, usually played too fast by them (on warp speed) lol. Hope to hear you play it someday :)
Very nice! I love your tone and musicality, I just wish your tempo stayed consistent throughout the whole piece. Remember, ragtime is based on marches.
Tempo is perfect but the rubato seems excessive. Your Maple Leaf has little or none, which I personally prefer, though of course this is a matter of individual taste.
I usually prefer Scott Joplin’s music with a steady tempo, same as yourself, with no rubato, but for some reason the Entertainer is one of those where it just seems to work, it can be played in so many different styles and still work!
I very much liked your Maple Leaf Rag! For The Entertainer, while not bad either, I think you somewhat overdid on the tempo changes. Regarding the acoustics I am somewhat confused: The beginning of the video indicates that you recorded this in a theater hall. However, the actual sound is rather "dry" like that of a smaller room lacking the type echos that you would expect from a theater hall. In fact, I think the acoustics in your Maple Leaf Rag recording resembles that of a theater hall much better.
Joplin may have approved, but I prefer the historically correct interpretation of ragtime, but you can only achieve this by gathering 200 working class folk and cramming them in a smoke-filled saloon built for 50 while the pianist plays on a crappy upright piano (and on an empty stomach).

Ever listen to Joshua Rifkin albums? He's really my favorite.

Another superb performance from the Glenn Gould of Scott Joplin! Looking forward to more.
I like the rubato at the start, it adds some extra classiness to the whole affair. Wonderful work!

I didn’t know the term for what I felt was missing in his Maple Leaf Rag, but it seemed to lack some life, for all that it was well-played.
Why do you play the first phrase slower and the following phrase faster? It’s interesting. I’m just wondering why you do that.🙏
