  • the Putnam Line once ran from the Bronx all the way up to Brewster, New York. One of the coolest remnants from this can be found near the trail’s southern end The rusting remains of an old train station, This was once the Van Cortlandt Park stop, one of two stops in the Bronx. So interesting to stand here and force your brain to picture it as a fully active railroad station Construction on the Putnam line began in 1870, with passenger service in operation until 1958. Freight trains continued to use the line through the early-1980s, when it was finally decommissioned, In addition to the station, several iron bridges can also be found along the trail hoping those passing through the park late at night might hear what almost sounds like a train whistle blowing in the distance…And perhaps, see spectral figures waiting at the station for a train that will never come.

That's the best you can do. Van Cortland park to Tibbitts Brook park, what about the rest of the way to Brewster?

The old vancortlant park Putnam train station and the trestle bridge is up for a reason. Yeah they they rip off the train tracks and made it to a trailer bike. Which is 100% true. I have a spiritual feeling that they are gonna wind up having trains running back soon I'm telling you. Look at mayrook connect they have the trailer and the train tracks. I heard that they gonna trains running there where people could see the trains running again while they are riding their bikes and running and jogging. Alots of Abandoned Rail road s are coming back to life slowly but surely I'm keeping it 100% real. That's the reason why you see the curve Putnam trailer and you could still see the double trestles.

@@CarlosPerez-td6ur Another thing to if you ride pass tibbitsbrook park 🏞️ you will see four white marks and the dubble trestles and train tracks ties. Go check out the first Birdge putmam and you will see that they are definitely repainting them the 1904 Birdge and they cut some weeds on the side trestles. When you ride that little Birdge putmam look for 104 on the ground where the end of the trestle.
