Funny thing, Maomao isn't that fond of tacticians. She is good at it though. Probably because her mother is such a renowned go and shogi player.

I mean that dude is one of the best friends Mao Mao has in the palace after this. So close in fact that she will become his wingwomen and almost saw him naked like fully naked in order to evaluate if he is husband material for one of the courtesans.
This dude became MaoMao friend and ally just because he is honest and earnest and she respects that from him, their friendship is really good and the source of many headaches and heartaches for some purple haired dude :V

@@dmitriyk.2890 yeah I was thinking about it. 12 episodes for a season makes it easier to pinpoint where they will stop but as it is 24 episodes, I am not so sure how far are they willing to go for the anime.
This show is so good, definitely a gem that isn't being talked about ENOUGH
I only *_just_* discovered it and now I'm intrigued lol. It looks really chill and I'm loving this ancient Chinese setting. Not something you see in most anime.

Maomao is lowkey the perfect consort and future empress there's no way someone can poison her easily and she knows how to maneuver her ways around people by being a master negotiator and using her beauty as a tool to gain favor. Maomao's a highly intelligent, formidable political opponent if you ask me

That is not as large a breach of the social role of empress since she wouldn't be placing herself in danger and it's arguably just a pragmatic means of further enhancing her own security since she'd be ensuring they could be better at detecting threats to her own safety.
