  • Pt 2 of this M.O.T fail saga... In this video we replace the upper control arm, The nearside front wheel bearing ( without using the proper tooling) and change the front brake pads. With a bit of bonus footage at the end.
Hope this helps someone. And remember all fastenings should be done upto manufacturers torgue settings.

Thanks a lot for this video.
I am currently fighting the difficult bolt on the front left upper control arm. The bolt head gets fouled on the spring. I have aftermarket springs with insufficient clearance between the spring coils to remove the bolt. I will wait a few days for my fingers to stop bleeding then try again! I may cut it out then insert a piece of threaded bar if I get really stuck.

I feel your frustration.. with a bit more work it may best to remove the shock and whole top bracket as I think threaded bar may be too soft. Best of luck

I have just reached your Bonus Footage section with the spring compressors - brilliant, I will give that a go. Thank you again.

Sorry, but that Bearing and hub assembly procedure is not right. The bearing has to be pressed into the casing first, as there is a clip ring which has to be fitted in place before the hub is pressed into place. If it is pressed in in one, the clip ring cannot be fitted.

The hub n bearing are all one part. When you press it into the casing the ring clip 99% seats itself.you may need to finish it off with a punch or screwdriver to fully seat it.If you used the correct instalation tool for the bearing it does ensure the clip is fitted properly but I don't find it necessary. Thanks for watching and your comment.

Oh right, when I've done it I've always reused the old hub, so then you have to press the bearing in first, fit the clip,. then press the hub in. Good video.
