Quality “how-to” video, well done. I definitely would not use the pickle fork but each to their own there. I’m buying a 2007 to rebuild and bring it back to its former glory. I appreciate people like you taking the time to produce something like this. I also can’t endorse enough to people doing their own work to use the paint marker on all bolts, nuts. Great confidence when you routinely check and see nothing has moved.
Great DIY video! Not gonna lie though, I did the lower control arm and cv axle replacement on my 2009 Turbo S last night while using this as a reference and you make it look way easier. 🤣 A rusted bolt on my control arm and a lift on mine as well made it a MUCH longer process than I thought. Couldn't have made it through it without this vid, but rethinking my DIY skills at this point. Haha
This is the best DIY video I have seen for this repair. I have a 2004 Turbo with hydraulic bushings ... unlike the Turbo S with solid bushings. I'm guessing the Audio LCA you are using are going to be the best value/performance option.
I found this video very helpful. If I may make a request/suggestion. I have a 2006 with the coil over shocks. The mounting is slightly different up the top. It has a plate at the top. And on the drivers side there is a leveling sensor. And the last of the 3 bolts at the top of the shocks. It is in a very awkward spot. Little hard to get to. Kind of make me think that the Porsche engineers are still shirty about the time we sent bomber command and the 8th Airforce over to Germany. I had to get up onto the motor to get at the bolt head on the left hand side. And do you have a video on replacing the rear shock? Could you do a video on an earlier model Cayenne?
Excellent presentation and very professional. "Boom baby" 😄🙌. Would you have a rough estimate of how long this takes in real time for a standard set up each side?
I am having A LOT of trouble getting my control arm ball joint in. The top CV joint is getting in the way of the bolt. I go in from the front, from the rear i try jacking it up. I try lowering it and there is absolutely no way I can get it to go in. I am all out of ideas. I even tried measuring it with callipers and the measurements are correct. Any ideas?
For those looking for torque specs without watching the video: Upper control arm - 37ft-lbs, Upper strut bolts - 37ft-lbs + 90 degrees, Upper Ball Joint 63 ft-lbs, Lower Ball Joint 77ft-lbs, Lower control arm 126ft-lbs, Lower Strut bolts 63ft-lbs, Sway Bar 81.5 ft-lbs.
The upper control arm should be 155mm from the edge of the mounting bracket on the top of the strut and the centre of the wheel should be 499mm from the edge of the wing when tightening up the bolts going through the relevant bushes.
Boom Baby!!! Mike - thank you so much for this DIY - I have to do this soon on mine (2008 CTT). Very helpful. I would buy you beer and pizza if you did my control arms. Just sayin' Thanks again.
Hey!!! What is the front skid plate and bumper of this truck? FYI, I just did this service. It's a bit more tender when you don't have a professional lift. That be said, a little bit of crawling around in tight places and muscle will get the job done. Thanks for this video!
Love to hear it Adrian, the lift certainly makes working and filming the videos easier! Both of those units came from our friend Mike over at Eurowise Performance.
Great video, would you happen to know the part numbers for the lower control arm Adjusting(Eccentric) Bolts and Nuts/Lock Nuts..? Will I need 4 of the same Bolts and Nuts, 2 for each lower control arm? Or are the front and rear eccentric Bolts and Lock Nuts on the lower control arm different? I need to order but I stuck at this point.
I really enjoyed this DIY - very complete. Since I need to replace my ride height sensors (common issue), I was interested in the places where you disconnected/connected the ride height sensor cables, as it gave me a chance to get a better view. At least you did not need to press the ball joints out and back in - had to do that on a Bronco, and it was a bit of a pain (even with air and the special press). Were these OEM replacement control arms, or special heavy duty ones? There's another FCP Euro video showing special control arms on a Mercedes from Syncro Design Works, including footage of the control arms while on a track, showing how much play regular arms have vs the special ones (ruclips.net/video/GY909OF47Ng/видео.html). Thanks for the Cayenne DIY - I'm always hungry for more!
Hi Johnathon, glad we could be of some help! For this video, the top arms are standard replacements from Meyle, the bottom arms are HD from Meyles HD line.
Hi boss I have porsche cayenne turbo 2009 ..I have problem with starter engine when engine hot no starter after check with technician he said starter problem...then I bought new one after 2 months again same problem no starter when engine hot..then try with new 2nd battery AGM 105 A varta Germany made ...
An OTC 7314A Pitman Arm Puller will press out both lower and upper ball joints + the outer tie rod end. Lose the hammer and fork. Your causing damage to the other components and making yourself look like a rookie. You tightened the lower strut bolt with the suspension at full droop. That bushing isn't going to last.
@@fcpeuroDo you need to fill the airstrut with some air for those vented air when you took the airline off, or the system will automatically compensate those loss once the car is lowered and driven?Thank you!

Fantastic tutorial!! So concise. Great filming and well put together. Definitely a job I feel I can comfortably do myself now

I watch a lot of these kind of videos, and this is a good bro right here he sees enough of the details it doesn’t overwhelm anybody

Appreciate that Matt, we hope that if it can at least help one person, we are doing something correctly.
"It's better to have it come loose than to strip it"
Words to live by.
I am curious if you plan to replace the rear control arms, to get full advantage of the new parts up front.
Nice to see the behind the scenes DIYs for the Yippee Cheyenne!
Make sure you come out to our Sunday Motor Meet on May 15th, the featured marque is Porsche, and the YC will be there! Dogs welcome 🐶
Mike is my favorite professional DIY'er.
Garth, you are Mike's favorite "good people".
Very Nice presentation, easy to follow... even while showing a modified vehicle. Great Reference!
Glad you liked it!
Exellent video! Do you have one for the rear control arms as well?
I love u guys from Nigeria

This is making me want to buy a used Touareg or Cayenne.
Very capable off-roader, and amazing high speed cruiser too.

MrQuentien, our time is a bit skewed due to filming; we spent probably 8 hours doing it. Thank you for watching!
Amazing clean Proffesional work
Amazing video! I love it!

It doesn't take much convincing for Mike, once beer and pizza are in the mix😂

Howard, VAG-WHT001833 -VAG-WHT001796A-CRP-HWN0087 x 4 for all three!
@fcpeuro Ty so much I just need the 2 adjustable bolts not the bolt going to shock. 2009 audi q7
Do you recommend putting thread lock on the eccentric bolts?
We recommended you avoid that, as those bolts are what get adjusted to set your alignment!
Should I preload the upper control arm to the car weight before torquing?
great video !!!
Great video!!!
Where's the video of the buyers guide for the 2012+? I'm looking to buy a 2013 Cayenne diesel
We are working on it!
Please add torque specs to the description
Mike! Really appreciate it 🙏
Happy to be of help!
same procedure pushing the lift switch up to get in back into ON the airsuspension back?
The air suspension will automatically turn itself back on once you start driving.
Hi Teck, once the vehicle is turned back on and you start driving, it will self turn on and start operating as normal.
How to release the suspension lock then?
Thx for this video

Dude just called it a pickle fork. I swear everyone looks at me like I'm an idiot when I have said that!
😎
Should you not have marked the resting position of the old arm first, then lined the new one up to match
Hi Colin, for sure a good idea to get a rough setup, however not always the best reference, especially with wasted bushings as our arms had.
You don’t have to worry about doing extraneous things bc you have a lift & skid everyone’s cayenne has that nowadays 😂
👍🙏

Every single tutorial from this guy and never torques bushings under the actual weight of the car...shoddy work quality

Please replace "situated" with a different word from time to time.

How to turn the air suspension back on?
Hi Zi, putting the car in gear and driving it will activate it again.
