Several years ago I wouldn't have considered a battery powered chainsaw. Today I own 2. I'm sure the Skill chainsaw is a great saw, and it weighs about 1/2 of what my Echo weighs. My Echo is simply amazing in both performance and batttery life, but VERY, VERY HEAVY at 14lbs with the larger battery installed.
The little 6'' no brand name cheapie chainsaw I bought off Amazon is super light and works great too.
Congratulations on being the most recent as of the time of publishing!
And we both know that NO EV will ever sound like a HEMI!! Lol
I love my hemi TX 👊💪
Thanks again Clint!!!
And thank you as well Leonard 👊
I bought the Hart 16” 40v chainsaw on clearance with a 40v 4ah battery and charger for $100 at Walmart. I figured for that price I have to try it. It’s basically a white ryobi chainsaw.
Well just looks like Chervon is doing smart business by taking all the 24v Kobalt tool engineering and applying it to a line that can be sold at more locations.
99% of people didn't know that. And I was one of them. 😮. Your the king of new tool information
Their original PWRCore 40 has been available for about 3 years. It uses a 14-inch bar and a low-profile, thin-gauge (0.043 inch) chain. But chain speed was low--I think about 34 feet per second. The new, 18-inch model uses a beefier chain (0.050-inch-gauge). And the 18's chain will spin much faster.
The 14-inch model reached only 1500W. I'm hoping that the new model, with an 18-inch bar, can deliver 1800 watts of power, like Greenworks' most serious 40V 16-incher and 48V 14-incher. Of course, to reach the full rated power, you must use the 6AH battery on the 18 or a 4 or 5AH battery on the 14.
Can you do a review on the new hyper tough 12v 3/8 impact and 3/8 ratchet
I do not have the chainsaw but I have a lot of the 12 and 20v tools and really like them.
Have a EGO 18 inch CHAIN saw and its a lot easier to run then any GA$ POWER one
Like that new tool! I think the Ryobi and this one look the same. But love the see a new competr.
Can wait for the flex versions of these
It's possible you could see it in the Flex line. The only reason it may not happen is because Flex is a pro line and they are owned by Chervon which also owns Ego. Not sure if Flex would be willing to eat into the Ego brand sales 🤔
Flex doesn't make outdoor power equipment. Skil already shares battery cell cooling technology with its sister line Ego. Beyond that, Ego does its own thing.
I like Skil, but this is starting to complete price wise with the 2+kw saw kits from Greenworks that destroy anyone under $500. Those are also much heavier duty units. At the low weight on this Skil, they probably should have made it a top handle. Will have to see it work, but it is a bit plastic for $299. The EGo saws are a bit underwhelming, but we'll see if these inherited that. Always glad to see them add stuff, but I sure wish they would flesh out their 20v line more. No canister vac, no nailer, no heavy impact, and it's become tough getting the larger capacity batteries
They have an 18g nailer
Cool Clint 😎
Interesting
Who handles Skill?
Amazon. Lowe's, too, but with fewer offerings.
