Thanks for taking your time showing us how to take those columns apart and back together. I've had them apart before but didn't take the whole assembly apart because of bearings were still good when I did my last one but thanks a lot they are a little tricky appreciate you showing us how it's done. All the best from Canada

I broke the steering column on my 80 Chevy pickup by doing the same thing. Using the steering wheel to pull myself up into the truck. Steering columns are not designed to support a persons weight, but there is no handle to use. Just a bad design. I learned about steering columns the hard way. There are also special tools required to disassemble and assemble them. Not a fun job. Thank you for sharing!

Hopefully I never have to do that job on my Powerstroke, but it’s good to know it’s not that difficult if you have the right tools and know how.
I don’t think you could get a better starting Powerstroke though J.C. Sounds like it starts up with just one revolution. Pretty cool truck👍

that truck has always started like that. high pressure oil system is on point! 222k miles with no injectors, o rings, ipr, icp or any other engine repair. good clean oil, good filters and good service intervals.

Great video, im watching bc my lock cylinder is lose even with a new one installed. Truck will start with key but wont shut off. Like the key doesn't click into each mode. The gears on the end of the cylinder are fine. Thinking it might be the long rod you talked about that the cylinder rides up and down on or something in the housing itself. Anyone will tips please let me know thx!

Thats a sought after truck I don't know what he paid for it 10 years ago but I bet you he could double his money on it now. I see a lot of guys around me always on the hunt for older diesel clean and decent price they buy them jack up the price and eventually sell them . Moral of the story is new trucks are sweet when they work but anybody who can't take that risk buys an older one

I keep thinking with all the videos you’ve made finishing something the boy started you might want to convince him to buy a vehicle with fewer problems.

Those bearings are probably what broke in my '93 years ago when I was driving it with no power steering ( ended up being the gearbox) but I swapped in a junkyard column. Mine was tilt and the one I bought wasn't but was easy to covert using a cpl parts from the old column ! Another great video 👍👍
