My Anxiety Story. Why I am helping you beat anxiety

- The response to my anxiety channel has been great and people are telling me that my videos are helping their anxiety. So its time I told my own anxiety story. How my anxiety problems developed and how I overcame my anxiety. Its a deeply personal story that talks about how my childhood experiences led to anxiety problems later in life, my struggle with paruresis, performance anxiety and health anxiety. Why I trained in CBT and hypnotherapy and how CBT and self hypnosis helped my anxiety problems. My anxiety story is thankfully a success story which is why I want to share and help other overcome their anxiety problems, whether its panic attacks, generalised anxiety, social anxiety, health anxiety or OCD. My channel will help you beat anxiety whatever the type.
Please don't stop making videos you are helping me so much
Will do. I have made one per week for 3 years and still enjoy making them. As long as people keep watching, I will keep making them. Im glad they are helping.
Thank you for sharing your story. I have chronic health anxiety and I wish more people would understand anxiety disorders are real and very hard to live with.
I find your meditation videos helpful and often play them.
Make a video on cardio phobia anxiety series
Please ?
Thank you for providing all this content. Especially for us Americans. It costs a fortune to get any sort of help from a CBT professional, but thankfully we live in the era of RUclips.
No problem. I believe mental health support should be free. Although we have a free health service in the UK the waiting lists are very long and often doctors don't even put their patients on the list for CBT and just give them cheap medication instead. There is no substitute for one on one counselling but I try to fill the gap as best I can.
I have my first Hypnotherapy tomorrow, as well as on a list for rTMS for anxiety that controls my life.
Hello Martin you have been my go to rock for the last 12 months. Listening to you and seeing that you had recovered and are living a normal life was the first step towards wellness for me. Your videos are simple and easy to follow. I wish you continued success and good health. Please keep up the videos...its all a learning experience and cbt is a wonderful tool. It should be taught in all secondary schools as there is a mental health crisis here in ireland among young people.
Thank you for sharing your story, Martin. I greatly appreciate your generosity with providing these valuable videos, they are so helpful for me, and I am sharing them with struggling family members as well. Best regards… ❤
Thank you for sharing that.
Thank you so much for all you do

Thanks for all that you do.
Thank you, so nice to come across someone willing to help without money involved.
Amazing video ❤ It filled in some gaps in my understanding of Anxeity which makes it easier for me now to change my response with total convention. Bravo Martin 👏
I just came across with your channel, and I find the. absolutely helpful, I suffer from anxiety for a long time now , and I'm to the point that I'm suffering from my bowels and my gut in general😢but I'm so happy to have found you. Thank so much for sharing your history 🙏
Thanks for sharing your story. You are on point with every video!
thank you for sharing your story🙏 it gives me hope
Hi Martin, I’ve found your videos really clear and helpful as both someone doing PGDip in CBT currently and fellow anxious human. Also shared your videos with clients who equally find this helpful. I wonder if you’d consider doing any videos aimed at cbt students in training; maybe tips or common mistakes, traps. Reckon you’d be excellent. 😊
Man you are literally helping so much. Your channel is amazing, you are doing great work. You are -> really
I have enjoyed your videos. I'm an LPC and I really enjoy continuing education. I feel like I'm learning a lot from your videos.
My anxiety is so bad right now that your story about your bladder started making me think I would get it. Your videos have helped me before though, just knowing as well we aren't alone in this suffering.
Thanks so much Martin for all these videos. I have seen therapists in the past for anxiety but the hypnosis video for panic attacks and CBT videos were life changing. You have a very calm and insightful way of explaining this. Thank you again.
My pleasure. Glad to have helped.
Thanks Martin
Thank you for sharing...
Thank you for sharing your story. I love your videos and appreciate you making them available. 💕
You are so welcome!
Happy you overcame and are using your skills to help others. Thank you.
Thanks Daroga and thanks for the Superthanks
Thanks for sharing your Story Martin! Along with your response last week, working on CBT and my latest visit to my Hypnotherapist this week I have decided to take your advice and take a leap with a Chrysalis course :) x
Thats great. Best of luck with the course. Its a lot of work but I really enjoyed it and learnt a lot.
I remember there used to be times that I couldn't pee on one of those wall urinals when someone would be just right next to me, I would imagine in my head that if I don't pee the guy might take it personal or he will stare at me in an awkward way, but that's just the brain talking. What helped was asking myself questions such as "do you think people care about whether you pee or not?" "Do you really think they will get mad and start fighting you or judging?" "Do you pay attention to the guy who's peeing right next to you every time?" Then I learned that no one even care if you don't pee right away because they are busy with their lives, and I'm sure that many people experienced it at least once. I no longer have that little fear but there used to be times that it did happened, it was quite rare, mostly in places like theaters and restaurants. Thanks for sharing your story, it was great listening to you and knowing a bit more about you.
Martin, thank you for your videos . I suffer from agoraphobia bad and panics where I feel like I'm going to pass out when I go anywhere and trying to figure out how to get the courage to expose my self and get over it yet scared .. My wife is a Dr . She tries to help but it's hard for her to honestly understand as she never had it and only understands it from a medical standpoint.
Did you see my recent video on Agoraphobia? ruclips.net/video/1ViLJ_aGbaw/видео.html
I also made a hypnosis video to help with graded exposure. ruclips.net/video/ko2S-nL6lgw/видео.html
História inspiradora, parecida com a minha, obrigado por seus vídeos, sou do Brasil e tem pouco conteúdo sobre ansiedade e hipnose tão completos como o seu ! Faço questão de assistir em um tradutor de vídeos! Um forte abraço.❤
Very helpful videos. I've been learning a lot from them. Do you have any plans on uploading also to Spotify? Thank you for helping people.
You are such a great guy for being so kind and sharing your knowledge with us all. I am truly greatful and your videos have helped me so much. It's rare to meet someone who's helping others for no personal gain.
Can we donate to you somehow , maybe a link to send you some money through PayPal as a thank you?
Would you consider private sessions ? Do you have an email?
Thats very kind of you. You tube has a feature called Super Thanks. The button is a heart with a dollar sign in it and the word thanks next to it. Its to the right of the like and download button.
Regarding private sessions, unfortunately that is something I am unable to offer at the moment. I hope to go back into counselling one day. If the channel takes off I hope it will allow me to do low cost or pro bono work in the future.
Bladder lock must be especially horrible because your stress hormones are flushed out by urine. It doesn't mean you are anxiety free after peeing but it sure is relaxing. I realized when my body is hydrated better and if I drink water when a panic attack is around the corner, it is more bearable and lasts shorter. Can even do daily tasks if it hits during the day.
I have a fear of hunger I avoid it at all costs because I worry it would be diabetes. I have to eat every two to three hours or I get anxious and think I am having a hypo which is very irritating and irrational my tiredness doesn’t help either because I start to think I have heart disease. I haven’t been diagnosed with diabetes or heart disease.
You should make more videos
I have made 176 videos so far and I make a new one every week 😀
Give him a break , he has a full time job too
Martin do you still have parurisis?
99% of the time I don't. I am able to use public toilets most of the time. Very occasionally I will get bladder lock but maybe once or twice a year. Years ago I just couldn't use them at all.
Thanks Martin for reply, and I m struggling with parurisis I started exposure but sometimes my bladder locks usually when I’m in party’s full of people or the bathroom didn’t have any cubicles
Any advice ??
And you think that I stop exposure my self this condition will return if I had overcome it ??
@iagoluy3783 If you return to avoidance the condition will probably get worse. Have you seen my video series on pauresis.?
