    There is no other musician today who exemplifies and embodies Beethoven’s humanistic philosophy as much as Daniel Barenboim. He lays the foundations for that philosophy and shows us what a sense of humanity means. And there is no other musician who uses the instruments of his art as passionately and as intelligently in pursuit of the social changes that are so vitally necessary. In these 4 chapters Maestro Barenboim will talk about Beethoven, his music and especially his Piano Sonatas with Italian conductor and pianist Giuseppe Mentuccia and give the viewer a great insight of his view on Beethoven.

    I strongly resonated at 3:50 with my personal experience of listening to the last movement of opus 31 no. 1. I once heard in a cafe now gone and asked if what kind of Schubert that was. The owner said it was Beethoven and I was quite shocked!

    Great Video Maestro!
    I wish you could do that at the piano, demonstrating, for example, the "orchestrating" of chords with the fingers.

    The piano may be uninteresting. But the pianist is the most interesting.

    Well , if l'm honest this is way above my understanding of music and Beethoven but nevertheless it is compulsive viewing. Two meastro's exchanging idea's on how they think these pieces should be played. However, l think Giuseppe Mentuccia is paying the greatest respect to his mentor. Just wonderful !

    Sir, l am watching a programme that condenses your presentation of Beethoven in 1970 . Rediscovered and restored tapes . There is no doubt that your enthusiasm for Beethoven has been life long and passionate . Thankyou Sir !

    Daniel, when you play certain Beethoven sonatas how does the composer's apparent mental anguish, torment and emotional disturbance influence how you immerse yourself in the piece? I'm thinking for example of the Tempest 3rd movement, which I find hauntingly disturbing.

    Estimado maestro, se que es mi culpa por mi pobre inglés, pero estaría bueno escucharle a ud. en español o al menos subtitulado. Igualmente lo que trasmite ejecutando Beethoven si lo puedo apreciar totalmente. Muchas gracias. Difícil elegir entre todo Beethoven. Por decir algo, Sonata 23 Apassionatta

    Mr. Barenboim please check Wim Winters Authentic sound Chanel. There is always something new to learn, in this case with Beethoven and how he would have played 200 years ago.

      You can keep protecting your imaginary Beethoven character. The man that would beat all of us today if still here (also aplicable to the other 18 and 19 century composers). But reality hurts, deal with it or move along.

    • @roberacevedo8232
      @roberacevedo8232 3 года назад

      One last thing before I go. Authentic sound has for the first time in history, recorded ALL Beethoven sonatas according to the mm given by either Czerni or Beethoven himself. Until now nobody has done that in SB. Don’t say Schnabel because yes, he is slower than the mm. So I hope someone comes in the future and records all the sonatas in Single beat to compare.

    • @roberacevedo8232
      @roberacevedo8232 3 года назад

      And to respond to you, Wim winters talks and plays. You talk and what do you play? Go ahead and record yourself or anyone playing every Beethoven sonata in tempo.
