I have been using Rons videos for 1 year now- he has saved my butt over and over and over- working on my truck today and using his videos but I cannot do anything on it without thinking about his passing over and over- sometimes when I get stumped I close my eye and say "Help me out here Ron" Everyday I work on my truck I think about how unfair it was for someone who has helped so many to have passed so soon. I wish I would have had the opportunity to personally thanks Ron for all the unselfish helps he gives me. Thank you for all the informative information for us crazy people that own the infamous 6.0...Mine is an 07 f350 lariat srw lwb, just turned 354000 on the odometer. Original headstuds with a egr deleted and ford upgraded oil cooler. Other than that oh yeah the 03 turbo. I have spent less than 3000$ in total maintenance cost and a upgrade to the ficm...48V....I tow heavy 6 months outta the year pulling 18K quad goosenecks up to Canada March thru September...

Excellent video. Thanks for taking the time to make it. I've been thinking about something like this for some time now. Didn't know they made one. Depending on the price, it's a good alternative for those that don't want to by BDs other oil cooler alternative for that long term 6.0 owner. Thanks again man.
I installed one a few years ago. However my oil temperature have not been much of a change. I do think it’s a better system. I would recommend a dual core radiator and electric fans from Alloy Works.

Hello. Thanks so much for all the great videos and information I am considering buying an 06'F350, work truck that has 207k miles. What must have/do mods would you recommend to make more reliable?? It will be my DD. It will not be used for work. It will tow my 5,000 pound boat weekly (30 miles per trip).
awesome info, thanks Ron. I have a 6.4L, do you recommend any considerations I should take, or work that I should prioritize? its 100% factory still, and 110K km.
So I'm just getting ready to do the bulletproof to my 2006 is there something wrong with the air cooler that they've gone back to using the old system with the remote
Hey Ron... I'm replacing my oil cooler right now. It ruptured and dumped oil all in the antifreeze and I want able to flush it out.. Should I install this remote mount now ? Because I'm afraid it will clog up the new oil cooler once I start driving it again. This oil cooler only lasted 10k miles and went out again.
I mean whats an abosolute temp for eot and coolant mine has never reached 200 higest ive seen is 194 but the difference between the two is anywhere from 4 to 15 depends on if im on a load or not.
an example it's 80 degrees out here humid oil temp at 205 degrees coolant temp is 10 degrees lower I just finish installing this one I don't know if it's normal because I thought there was something wrong coming from California to Texas I saw my temperature like that and I have a delete SCT tuner to Performance
I saw the hair too. She does miss him. I did a hashtag for DieselTechRon and she replied to my comment! She said he was the best husband and friend she had ever had. My heart melted for her so bad.
hi I watched this video and currently have a 04 F350 super duty that has a oil cooler that is starting to fail id like to get this kit but I cant find it on the site is there any way you could post a link to this kit I would greatly appreciate it thank you in advance
I put a bigger bulletproof diesel kit on and my temperature still 10° degrees up of coolant and it's 80 degrees out here in tx is that normal or am I running into more problems
+lorax1968 Actually, this aftermarket external mount is air cooled AND water re-circulation in the cast body's. The advantage of this design is that it is mounted away from saturated heated air in the valley of the engine block. The disadvantage of air only coolers in cold climates is that you would risk oil blockage (gelling) without the water / antifreeze circulating in the unit. If you never leave Arizona or Texas, this is almost a non-issue.
i honestly dont see the point of installing this kit, if you plan on replacing the oil cooler every 100k miles sure makes sence, but if you have good clean coolant, updated cooler and a coolant filter, i dont see the point but whatever works i guess! what kind of delta do you get with the temps towing with this kit installed?
I tow a 24ft livestock trailer 4x a week loaded its around 14k to 15k. I installed a 3 segment 100 percent aluminum radiator, the coolant filter and run only Ford coolant. I never have a issue period
Do you recommend adding a after market by pass oil filter kit such as OCS or Sinister Diesel ? What temp thermostat and type (factory or Mishimoto) ? Would a Mishimoto radiator be a cost effective upgrade. ? Live in Oregon with mild winters but will use the truck mainly for towing and traveling. Factory Ford Warranty on truck not extended but factory .
We almost never see an oil related failure on these motors, esp if the proper filter is used. so I would not out money in the extra filtering of the oil, same with the thermostat. almost no factory or rare factory failure. the radiator actually is an upgrade, yes if needed I would replace it with theirs. take out a perfectly good one? in a cool climate? no. a coolant filter on these is s good idea and keeping up on the fuel filters. Try to only start it and run it when it can be driven long enough to be warmed up all the way. otherwise condensation builds up which is moisture or water in the systems
Everyone thinks it was every single 6.0 that had issues which is wrong. In 03 ford needed a new diesel motor ASAP because the old 7.3 didn't the the manditory emmision parts. So ford took a gamble on the 6.0 in the F series and E series with out the proper testing. If the proper testing would of been done before hand. Majority of these flaws would of been corrected from the beginning and would of had another 7.3. International installed the 6.0 in a ton of commercial vehicles. They never had any of these flaws and was going for ever. My buddies party bus had 530000 miles before he traded it in for a new 6.7 PS. 3 turbos replaced before 80k
Does anyone know if a similar kit will work on the E-series 6.0 powerstroke? The only option I've seen is the $2200, rape you in the ass option from bulletproof diesel. In all honesty, the kit should be more like $1000 max, $2200 for an oil cooler is approaching aviation part prices.
+Andrew B ... do not forget to send a "thank you " note to Fix Or Repair Daily. These trucks are money machines for dealer service centers. Try trading one in at a dealer and then that is the second price shock. It is almost as if they closed there eyes when they designed these engines. With the cheap price of gasoline a big block would be cheaper...Oppps they do not offer a big block... and do not stand behind their warranty.. Ain't that nice.

Hi Ron. If I got my hands on a low mileage 6.0, something like 40k miles..what would you suggest be done first preventatively? EGR Cooler?
Hey Ron... I'm replacing my oil cooler right now. It ruptured and dumped oil all in the antifreeze and I want able to flush it out.. Should I install this remote mount now ? do you have to add more oil with this setup? I just ordered this for my truck. any feedback if its worth it?
maybe a little the first time. but afterwards there is more trapped in it.

I put a bigger bulletproof diesel kit on and my temperature still 10° degrees up of coolant and it's 80 degrees out here in tx is that normal or am I running into more problems
Hi. Two things, is your vehicle reaching operating temperatures like 190 ? Ford says within 15° is normal .

Why not install the air oil cooler from BD?
lorax1968 the water to liquid cooler is more efficient

This set up is really expensive, BD has us 6.0 owners by the balls. Great video though.
