    One thing that may help or be useful. When you remove the radiator hold downs, put one back on with the bolt that's farthest away from you and put it in the one closest to you. If that makes sense.. that way it keeps it pulled tord you to help remove the fan shroud and keeps the radiator from moving around.

    And you did an Amazing job Drew👍👍
    I may just have to make that trip myself Andrew but I'm 9½ hours, 620 miles from you😄. I cant find any mechanics that are worth a darn where I'm located. I use to love working on my truck but now I'm partially disabled and its rough on this old guy, LoL!! I still watch your vids but it's hard for me to stay connected (subbed) the "powers that be" don't like it when I'm not so objective on certain issues in the news 🤣 so i got to be a little careful i guess, maybe or Maybe Not!😂

    I marked where the boots fit on my intercooler pipes and then took the pipes off and used 100 grit sandpaper to roughen up the ends stopping before my marks so the boots cover the sanded part. I did that to give the boots something to grip. Been about 8 months and hasn't blown apart yet. Good video and nice upgrades.

    I'd love to ask if and how you find your parts. Do you use a site with breakdowns, to find parts and part numbers? I have troubles with the local shops around me not having a single clue. I have a big project ahead of me: Oil Cooler, EGR Delete, New Degas bottle, Degas Cap, Intake Gaskets, Blue Spring, Coolant Bypass Filter, etc. Going all Motorcraft, but I'm interested in trying to find or know what gaskets, o-rings, and seals I should be replacing while there.
    I am also looking at getting a monitor and have been looking at the EDGE Insight CTS3.
    Anyways thank you for sharing all of your knowledge in these videos, it's really given me a ton of information, as well as confidence in doing these repairs myself.

    If the owner want to do a bit more, a Fass fuel system with fuel filter delete is a good upgrade. I haven't done the external OC, it doesn't replace the cooler in the valley does it?

    • @AutomedicGarage
      @AutomedicGarage  Год назад

      Yes it does replace it so no more worrying about oil and coolant mixing or the cooler stopping up plus if you ever did have a problem with it it’s all external and never have to get into the motor. FASS is ok but these factory HFCMs actually supply a fair amount of fuel for even bigger injectors. Just gotta clean the drain out on them regularly.

  • @Powerstroke7911

    What exactly is the VC9? I’ve heard you mention it before in other videos….what does it do and how often do you use it? Thanks!

    • @AutomedicGarage
      @AutomedicGarage  Год назад +2

      It’s a coolant system cleaner from motorcraft for cleaning the cast iron in the block and heads. I only use it when flushing before replacing a oil cooler in the 6.0s you could use it in the 7.3s also if you wanted to throughly flush the system. I do it before oil cooler replacement because I always fear breaking stuff loose with it and it ending up in the cooler. However it isn’t always possible when you have a ruptured oil cooler.

  • @robertgeorge4064
    @robertgeorge4064 4 месяца назад

    Did you use original fan clutch? I did same mod , used original clutch, and oil really heats up in slow traffic. Not enough air flow. Great at cruise speed. Thinking I should use 7.3 clutch, but turns on engine light and uses more HP. Any ideas?

    • @AutomedicGarage
      @AutomedicGarage  4 месяца назад +1

      7.3 fan clutch does not set a CEL. Your original electric fan clutch probably just needed replacing because I’ve never had a bullet proof diesel external cooler get the oil much if any over the coolant temp even if the fan wasnt working properly
