- If your neck and shoulders are constantly tight, and massage only gives you short term relief… the joints in your spine, not the muscles, are the underlying problem. Restricted, irritated spinal joints at the base of your neck are the no.1 cause of chronic, stiff, tight shoulders. These joints can also cause neck pain, upper back pain, arm pain, or pins and needles in the arm. So instead of massage, which doesn't address the underlying issue, these neck exercises will mobilise the joints that cause the stiff shoulders and neck. If done regularly they can provide long term neck pain and stiffness relief.

WHAT CAUSES NECK AND SHOULDER STIFFNESS?
Spending too much time in forward flexed neck position. Eg...
• Looking at a phone place at stomach level
• craning your head forward, or down, to look at computer screens
• and especially... leaning back against sofas or bedheads where your head is pushed forward.
So instead:
• Hold your phone up with a supported arm
• lift screens and bring them closer
• sit up straight on the sofa
• and read on your side in bed, rather than sitting in bed.

RE-RELEASED VIDEO! (Twice!😂) I re-released this video with exercises that are easier to do correctly... but then the audio files were corrupted, so I had to release it again! (Thanks Adobe!) **Please give it some love!** Sooo many people get this! It's the most common thing I see in practice. So consider sharing it with someone you love. Cheers! Stefan
I'm 64 and have been stretching every morning since I turned 50. In that time, I have tried countless stretches. The first one described in this video is the most effective stretch I have ever done. It was like a yoke had been removed from my neck and shoulders. I'll be doing it twice a day going forward. Thank you.
I'm so glad to hear it Peter. I really enjoying reading comments like yours. It's so rewarding. Thanks
(I don't think I've mentioned it before, but I always appreciate when your videos show the effects of the exercises using the real-world bone models. They reveal so much more than the static computer models that some other channels use.)
Thanks for publishing these videos.
You're so welcome! 😀
Have been dealing with neck pinched nerve / shoulder blade pain. That rolling on the ball against the wall one gave me a lot of relief, and some of your other videos have helped as well. Thank you!
Glad to help!
You're a perfectionist Stefan 👍
Lol! I've had a bad day! 20 seconds of audio in the last release was corrupted!
Thankfully someone commented and I realised... 8 hours later. Better than 8 days or weeks though!
@@BodyFixExercises Ouch - what bad luck! However your attention to detail is greatly appreciated😅

Very helpful video. The best part was when your assistant joined you at the 4:18 mark. While you're good at getting at attending to aches & pains, and your assistant is good at lowering one's blood pressure. Thanks for the video.

I liked the one where the telly fell on you and exploded

What is the difference between the exercises here and the ones for forward head posture? The issue seems to be the same
Exactly! Very similar! Don't get me started.
As if the exercises are custom made 👌
Thanks for your support as always, Alswedgin!
My shoulders feel terrible after reading phone in bed.
