    Hi Scott, Thank you for this review. I messaged you few months back about this laptop I'm glad you did a review on this. This is the one that I thought of buying because of my tight budget. In my country the dell vostro 3530 model is also available which has better build quality just that it doesnt come with full black color like the vostro 3520. I kind of like the full black color over the grey color scheme. Inspiron 3530 is also available here. In your opinion is Inspiron 3530 a better product than the vostro 3520? From what I heard is that Vostro models are slightly better than Inspiron models. I really dont need to use my laptop for travel much as its predominantly used a desktop laptop. In this part of the world Dell & Hp are the leading brands still but Lenovo & Asus is becoming popular day by day. Just that when it comes to spare parts Dell/HP are far superior over the other 2 still since getting spare parts for Lenovo or Asus could be expensive hence the reason why I want to buy a Dell laptop.

      The Inspiron 3530 is a significantly better laptop than the Vostro 3520. The sliver is on sale here in the US and it`s a pretty good deal:
      Dell Price$549.99
      13th Gen Intel® Core™ i5-1334U Windows 11 Home Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics,16 GB DDR41, TB SSD15.6-in. display Full HD 1920X1080
      The Silver should be full aluminium instead of plastic, I would go for that.

      @@Scott.The.IT.Guy. Thanks Scott for your reply. The 3530 Vostro looks a better option. I wish it came with full black color as I kind of prefer black color instead of silver/grey. Also what do you think about Inspiron 3530? In the country I live Dell Vostro comes with DOS & they install the windows key. On the other hand Inspiron 3530 comes with preinstalled windows 11. That is a big benefit

      Low-average. It’s a full HD IPS panel with a 250 nits brightness, 45% ntsc, 120hz refresh rate, 80 degrees view angles both ways. Not super high quality, but does the job and this is the better panel :)
      It can be equipped with an HD , TN panel with 220 nits brightness and much lower viewing angles.
      If you are looking for a quality screen, this will not blow you away for sure.

      Sure, it's probably an overkill for that. The question is, are you going to carry this laptop daily? If you do, I would not recommend to purchase this laptop.
      This laptop is technically an Inspiron 3520 which starts at $279 at Dell.com , this is exactly the same thing without a hard wired network connection. Even that intel core i3 is good enough for programing. Not sure about your budget, but this not a bad deal at all:

    Hey man thanks for the review! im going to buy a laptop to use outside and was wondering if you could help me. i have multiple options
    1. Asus vivobook 15 (which im very concerned about since it has alot of built in bloatware that significantly slows it down and can only be removed by resseting the laptop)
    2. Dell vestro 3520 or 3530

      Unfortunately, these are not good enough to be used outside and carried a lot. None of these have a bright enough screen to be used outside and none of these were built to last for a long time if you are moving them a lot. You need to get a business class machine, here are some options:

    I have to choose between these three laptops:
    DELL Inspiron 15 3535 15.6”, Ryzen-7 7730U, 16GB, 512GB SSD,
    Dell Vostro 3530 15.6″ | INTEL CORE I5-1334U | 16GB | 512GB SSD
    Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 15IRH8 15.6” | Intel Core i7-13620H| 16GB | 512GB
    Am I right that this Inspiron is basically Vostro, but since the line was discontinued, it's under Inspiron? Looks the same. Which one would you recommend? I always avoided Inspiron series, but this one seems slightly better build. I am not gonna carry it anyway, use only at home. What matters for me is rather if quality of screen is same as in Vostro, and if cooling is at least on same level.
    I've checked the benchmarks, and processor in Lenovo is clearly the best out of those three, but never had Lenovo so far, not entirely convinced. Is quality of build and screen on the Dell level?
    Appreciate the answer!

    • @Scott.The.IT.Guy.
      @Scott.The.IT.Guy.  Месяц назад

      Lenovo can be also a good choice, unfortunately Dell has now a couple segments with their current laptop lineup where they can’t really compete with Lenovo, HP, or Asus.
      The AMD CPU is better in this case however that is built on the previous Zen3 chip. Really have to look around if you can find a Zen4 based laptop still in your budget.
      If screen quality is important , you will definitely need to step up in price with Dell or look at other manufacturers .
      Screens with higher brightness ( 300-400 nits) packaged with better view angles and higher color gamut. This option alone usually makes the laptop $120-200 more compared the models are assembled with the basic 250 nits screen, low brightness, low color spectrum range.
      I made a quick video last night as a more detailed answer regarding choosing a laptop with different screen options , will be able to post it tonight or tomorrow. Please let me know if you have any questions or if you have a few specific laptops to choose from.

      Yeah, seems so Dell is back, and not worthy to buy anything than Latitude (I have currently Latitude 5431, need secondary laptop).
      Had an opportunity to see today screen of this IdeaPad, and well, it's fine. It's 300 nits (at least that's what's written; anyway, enough for me), so seems solid in this price range. Didn't feel that it's massively worse than my Latitude - to some extent for sure (color weren't that "live", viewing angles), but not like miles from Latitude. It's solid screen.
      Also, seems quite solid build, doesn't feel very cheap.
      Well, I will buy this Lenovo then. I anyway do not plan to do hard tasks on this laptop, just secondary unit. Thanks so much!

      1. Regarding keyboard. Does the keyboard bend when typing? For example, the keyboard in Lenovo IdeaPad 3 Slim is just awful. It bends a lot when you type. It's like it's made of paper((
      I found the same problem with some HPs when I was last time at the local store.
      But local stores don't have Latitude 5540 and I can't touch it(
      I plan to order this laptop online.
      2. Price..

      As much as can remember they keys are not bending. We have not seen any coming back to our shop but I talked to two of my friends (they are Dell partner service techs)
      They said if the material of the keys made of are super weak. If you type for hours daily, some key on the keyboard can and will worn down completely which they never seen before.
      Also the silver paint peeling off from the bottom cover :(
      If the HP elitebook 860 g11 on sale, it could fit your budget. It also has a better camera, better screen and longer battery life.

      If the laptop is fully backed up and have all the latest updates installed, hit the windows key on the keyboard and type “reset “
      You will be presented two different option: one will save your user profile but wipe everything out, the other option is reinstalling windows from scratch wiping all your data out.
      Once I have all the data the customer needs completely and fully backed up, I usually select to wipe all the data and go with a full reset.
      Make sure your hard drive is not full and you have least 30 GB of free space or more.
      Also do you have a windows 10 or windows 11 operating system installed right now?
      Why do you need to refresh the laptop?
      Are we talking about a software refresh, I described above or you need a “ hardware “ refresh ?

      I’m am sorry, I know laptops are crazy expensive there. Can you buy laptops from EBay? I don’t think this laptop will last for 10 years. You would need to step up to Dell XPS, latitude 5000 series, HP elite book, Lenovo T series and they are way more expensive than this.
      How much is the cheapest Dell Inspron at your country?

    • @gigacatkun
      @gigacatkun 13 дней назад

      @Scott.The.IT.Guy. Lenovo T series comes at a higher price with decent specs. Aroun 550/600$. But the L series is cheaper. Around 450$ with decent specs.

    • @Scott.The.IT.Guy.
      @Scott.The.IT.Guy.  12 дней назад +1

      Lenovo T is pretty much the gold standard in laptops regards how long they can last; the L is still a nice laptop but it has a lower built quality. The other great things about the used business class laptops that since big corporations are using them and selling them in 3-4 years, we have an unlimited supply of cheap parts in case something happens.
      If you can afford the T series, I would go with that , if you go with the L, that can be a good choice as well.

      I don’t think so , the battery only last 4-5 hours as new and as you can see it lost 20% capacity after just one year already. It also does not hold up well if you carry it a few days a week. Where it shines is if you use it pretty much as desktop .
