Bought this last year as a cafe cruiser. Perfect for that. Also: no fan noise and no battery anxiety.
I still have it! I got mine in Feb 2020, undervolted and repasted like a year ago to improve temps a got new life, and had cleaned regularly once a year. Also added extra 8 gb to 16 gb some years ago a new SSD but still lovely! just wanted to throw some love to my dear xps 15 7590 edit: the only thing I forgot is that the battery is not that good anymore , lasts like 1 30 m 2 at the most unplugged but is fine, after so many years no issues whatsoever besides that
Shift +f10 doesn’t work
If you are on a laptop make sure you hold FN(function) down as well. If you have windows home in S mode, you will be forced to create an online account.
It is a very-very good laptop. Using one alongside a T14 Gen1. I like it better than the Thinkpad. A few minor negatives are - all the ports are on the right, including the dock port. I'm right handed and using a mouse with it can be annoying. The keyboard is not as good as the Thinkpad, I'd say it's 90% there, good enough. The buttons on the trackpad are very mushy. The trackpoint is not very good, I don't use it, it also imprints on the screen from event the slightest pressure on the lid (eg. carrying it in backpack). The thermal and power management are extremely conservative with the latest BIOS. The laptop stays cool and quiet, but sacrifices performance (even on AC power). It feels very nice to use. The metal case/shell feels much better than the plastic Thinkpad, the screen is a good bit better. Colors are much better as well as the consistency of the backlight. My Thinkpad has a lot of bleed/glow. The speakers on the Elitebook are also much better. Easy to service and upgrade, replacement parts are easy to source (especially genuine).
Thank you so much for your detailed comment! Really appreciate it!
thanx for the headsup!
Thanks for watching! Really appreciate it!
thank you so much
Glad it worked! Thank ls for commenting!
Hi, Dell Optiplex is better vs Presicion in general bro? Or Presicion is better?
Regards of how long the machine last , Optiplex is just as good as the Precision. Precision has way more options regarding upgrade capabilities. 99% of my clients are buying the Optiplex because they only need a basic i5 or i7 with 16 GB of ram and a 512 GB SSD and no dedicated GPU. What would you do with the computer?
@Scott.The.IT.Guy. Basically vídeo editing bro
The Optiplex tower power supply does not have extra 6 nor 8 pin power connector for a dedicated GPU. If you need a RTX 4060 or better you will need the get precision workstation or I would also look at the Dell XPS desktop! I would probably go with the XPS, I made a few video on that, it’s a really good option.
Awesome, works like charm. Appreciate it
Glad it worked!
These machines have been a nightmare!!
What issue did you ended up having?
Great Video ! Been running the laptop closed for the last week plus with the Sony TV, Dell keyboard and a rodent ! Alsu using an USB to RJ-45 for the internet ! May have to get a laptop stand to store the keyboard under the laptop ! tjl
That is a really cool setup!
Why is this not an option!!! thank you
I think they don’t want to miss out on possible data collection opportunities. If you can’t get around and won’t use your own email address to sign in, you will have to create a new outlook account. They can tell shareholders that look, we have tens or hundreds of thousands of new people signing up for our email service.
Thanks! This helped me make the purchase. looks to be precisely what i need given I wont travel with it.
You are welcome ! Thanks for watching!
thanks for this video. How is the display in terms of viewing angles? Do colors look ok or do they get washed out?
Low-average. It’s a full HD IPS panel with a 250 nits brightness, 45% ntsc, 120hz refresh rate, 80 degrees view angles both ways. Not super high quality, but does the job and this is the better panel :) It can be equipped with an HD , TN panel with 220 nits brightness and much lower viewing angles. If you are looking for a quality screen, this will not blow you away for sure.
this saved my sanity thank you!
Glad it worked! Thanks!
I really like the looks of this machine and it seems very easy to upgrade. I think it's even better than the XPS. I agree with you on the CPU heatsink though. It clearly should be upgraded.
It's a great choice and a great machine!
Shift + F10 not working
Are you on a laptop? Try holding FN(function) down in the same time.
@@Scott.The.IT.Guy. still not working Latest version of Windows 11
Is this windows 11 home in S mode?
if i could get this machine with i9 14900k cpu, RTX 4070 super card, 64g of ram. and 2tb ssd for $1500 USD should i do it? My purpose would be i would want to use it for work but also to game, im not sure if its worth buying it and stripping the card and cpu and putting into another machine and still have to spend money on more parts. What do you think?
Sounds like a pretty good deal to me, I would just use it as it is! What resolution would you game and what type of games are you looking to run? The whole point of this PC is just being solid and reliable for many years to come. It is ready to go, does not need to be tweaked, has onsite warranty. I see XPS coming to our shop here and there, the main complaint is, they are slow! When I tell them it’s 8-9-910 years old, they usually just get a new XPS again. I am not worried about the extra performance which we would leave on the table potentially by going with this PC since I only play with old games in FHD. I would rather have something ready to go, not needing to be tweaked and solid for years to come.
Very informative, thank you! I just bought a Precision 3660 but the drive caddies are for 3.5" HDD. I want to put 2.5" SSD into it. Do you know if the Dell caddy P/N 0GW1T5 is the correct replacement caddy? Thank you!
Thank you for your comment. I pretty much stopped using the 2.5 " SSD drives unless it’s an older machine or has no available m2 slot on the Mobo. I am not 100% sure but I think this caddy should work, just search this Dell part number on eBay : 0GW1T5
Excellent.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you man, this code saved the day for me, big thanks to you🙌🙏
Glad it worked! Thanks!
Thanks Scott. Fully agree this should be default option.
I work for a small shop, I only set up like 5-10 computers a week, but it`s still so frustrating.
Thanks again for the video. So I can buy a 7020 SFF plus, a 3050 card and everything will work without problems or maybe the Tower version for better cooling?
Yes, if you have space the tower, it might be a better option and yes it will work great!
@@Scott.The.IT.Guy. tkanki you again.I have the same price for SFF and Tower so I'll take the Tower.
what if its an internal battery
Unfortunately removable batteries are not a thing anymore, you will have to remove the bottom cover to get to the battery. Just google your model number and disassembly or ram upgrade you will find videos how to take it apart. Make sure to use a pry kit for laptops so you won’t damage the motherboard, even a cheap kit will do it like this: www.amazon.com/Precision-Screwdriver-Security-Phillips-Doorbell/dp/B09FFCGLHK/ref=mp_s_a_1_2_sspa?crid=10FZR4UIEVQQ&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.0t4yodo4K1HASKBB_c67lJwfyDB21UuFE9oANRHWcMICKhYKYsKicJIhMxPsNGJdaQNw1aGv9agxHwold2nbQMpD7s0uivoSqZ2ZKt6yOrQ2y1c6PsTBDKeFrLw4w03Yvru55jK6LJjlRE0QWJVg9CDshlkYQi1bTtKyEFs6ofx6n1HOebI8tpxlKg0Tn9-G4_49qMMF7b4wb8G-aPj3Iw.KaSIU0Dh8QNglY_VTCYBVc-om3Ek5bw9A09lSOqHWF4&dib_tag=se&keywords=laptop+pry+tool+kit&qid=1735802012&sprefix=laptop+pry%2Caps%2C102&sr=8-2-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9waG9uZV9zZWFyY2hfYXRm&psc=1 If you have any questions, just reply to this thread.

Happy New Year to you too! I got a nice desktop for you a while ago, I haven’t got time to pack it, I have not uploaded any videos for weeks now. 2024 was the busiest year ever workwise, things are finally getting slower… I can send it out next week .
@@Scott.The.IT.Guy. that's ok scott, i don't mind waiting. my dad needed one right away and you got it to him.but this is great news to hear!
@@Scott.The.IT.Guy. dont worry about a mouse and keyboard scott. i got those and dont need em.but maybe you can recommend a good gpu to get for the desktop.
Depending on your budget , I would go with the RTX 3050 OC . Maybe a used , Dell branded RX 6500.
thanks! You found the aio and tower fan are equal and both are shortening the cpu performance by 20-40% for 14900k, vs a 3rd party cooler. Question: Will a 14700k run at 100% with tower or aio cooler? ps: I use it for scientific computations so the cpu will be tortured to the max.
My feeling from your content is that the cooling is in a borderline situation for 14900k, probably below the borderline. The scientific computation software I use only supports 16 cores. Maybe tower or aio will support the full capacity of a 14700k toward my application?--because (1) only 16 cores used, (2) it is 14700k instead of 14900k, so the max power (i.e., heat generation) in my case may be 10-20% lower than the fully leashed 14900k in your test. What do you think? Many thanks!!
It will not, performance will be always throttled for stability. This is a tradeoff for going with a branded PC. Adjustable options in the bios are super limited to none, therefore performance will be left on the table does not matter which oem are you choosing. If you need every bit out of the CPU you will need a custom build computer. Please be aware that the Intel CPU degradation and failure is real, the 14700k also affected by it.
I want to rma my i9-14900k but I’m not sure if they will send me a new sealed one or not. I’m having blue screens constantly so I might just give in. I have over 17000 report logs 😅.
I am sorry:( They usually send a new, factory sealed one, since these are not repairable, therefore they can’t refurbish them especially the 14900k is being a flagship.
I love it but that screen size is so .....2010's .. we need this in 32" inch.
I am overseeing about 1200 business class desktops, 80% of them has a 24” screen about 19% under 24”. I visited a client today who had 15” inch monitors:) The home version of this AIO , the Inspiron has a 27” version. That is a nice machine, we sold a few of them.
@ because businesses do still buy these “small” screens doesn’t mean this is a good idea. One of the reasons I prefer working at home is because I have my own 38” screen and don’t need to stare at the small 24” screens at the office … but somehow they want me working more at the office 🤷🏻♂️
i paid $225 Nov 30th 2023 and decided to upgrade the ram to 32 ram . these laptops allows you to add a 2.5 ssd so i added a 2tb 2.5amsung ssd i had from my older laptop and an wifi 6e card
Nice upgrade! Wow, I was not sure about the 2.5" SSD , thanks for the info!
After watching this video and another one analyzing its screen, I was convinced to buy it, I'm very happy with it, I was able to get it for about 320 dollars, with a 4k Touch screen, i7-9750H and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650, it is a beautiful screen and the premium feel it has made me fall in love, I highly recommend this computer, the only thing is that the battery drains somewhat quickly, but it is understandable due to the monstrous 4k screen it has, on average I can reach 4 hours and it is as you say, it is the Toyota of the XPS, since according to what I read in the forums, the following generations had a few reliability issues, which this one does not suffer.
It’s a really good laptop for the price, I agree, the battery life is not that bad for a bright, 4k touch screen!
Very Good Review, THANKS
Thanks for watching! Really appreciate it!
good info Scott, thank you
Thanks for checking it out!
Hi, thank you very much for the video. I am interested in buying a computer to use financial programs and the Internet where I can connect two monitors 48 inch (5120x1440) and 38 inch. I am thinking about Dell XPS 8960 and Dell Optiflex 7020 plus Tower. Which one do you recommend for such work, I am interested in reliability? I will not play games or use graphic programs on the computer.
I would go with the 7020 plus. That has a triple, 4K display port output , where the XPS 8960 has only one, unless you get a dedicated GPU, which in this case not needed. Both can last 6-8 years easily, a lot of them can and will last a decade no problem.i think the XPS is reliable as the Optiplex but has more parts and options what you don’t need .
@@Scott.The.IT.Guy. thank you for answer.
@@Scott.The.IT.Guy. I can only buy the configuration i7 14700, 32gb ram and UHD 770 graphics card. Will it be enough for 5120x1440 resolution?Tower or SFF?
That resolution is still under 4K so it should work. I would love to test it and tell you for sure, but I don’t have a monitor with that specific resolution. Worst case scenario you will need a dedicated GPU which I like to avoid, especially if they have a fan. These business desktops last 6-8 years no problem even if they are running 24/7. The GPU fan almost never last that long.
I use an M.2 Dual WiFi+bluetooth card in mine that i salvaged from a laptop with the same laptops antenna routed around to the front and fed out a hole labeled "ant-cable" and it works great. Then bought 2 8gb Corsair LPX vengeance RAM , 1 2tb WD blue HDD and a 1tb WD blue 2280 SSD. Even without a GPU it still runs some early PS4 titles pretty well. But there are a few options for compatible Low profile GPUs. I found the 3 i have in the trash! They're actually really good quiet space saving computers that can handle a decent load. I'd recommend this PC to someone that needs one for their living room especially since IT CAN PLAY DVDs too! BTW you can remove the fan from the Heat Sink so you can clean the dust from the fan blades. Theres also a connector for an optional SD card slot.
Thanks for the tip about the fan, I also have one of them in my TV cabinet for old DVD’s but mostly I store family pictures on it.
I did all these and it didn't work. Then, I removed the battery and slept. When I woke up, I tried the steps again and it all worked!!! Thank You! Thank God!
That is awesome! Glad you got it fixed!
I got mine for $179!
Awesome find! I love this machine!
Can I do any upgrades to it.. I bought 2 for my twin 9yr old boys to start using for Christmas
I think everything is integrated on the circuit board, but I would not do anything with it anyway. The point of this laptop is the price and it’s great as is. If they like Minecraft and Roblox, I am sure they are going to love it.
@ that’s all they play🤣
But 1 started a RUclips channel so would this work for that?
Hi Scott Your vid opened my eyes. Thanks. I bought XPS 8960 with i7 1400, RTX 4060 and 16 GB of RAM. I use it mainly for Photoshop. Will I gain anything when I ll swap RAM and instal 32 BG? Cheers
Hello! Do you have any issues at the moment with 16 GB? Also , pop up the side cover and look at the ram. Do you have two 8 GB stick or just one 16 GB stick? When you work with photoshop right click on the windows tray on the bottom of the screen. Hit task manager and look at ram usage . If it’s over 75-80-90% constant, more ram will help, if you are under 70% , more ram will not do much speed increase unless you only have 16gb stick at the moment. Also make sure your virtual ram set to manual, and 16000 -16000 least or 32000-32000 if you have a large SSD with a lot of free space.
@@Scott.The.IT.Guy. Thanks Scott
I have 5 of these as classroom laptops for my Radar courses. these have the simulators loaded and they work well.
Glad to hear! Thank you for your comment! I have a brand new Elitebook 660 g11 and the 860 g11 at my studio for a while now and absolutely love them.
Hi sir What about the graphics card .can you tell more about it?
It does not have a dedicated graphics card but the integrated GPU is not too bad. What would you run on it?
I am a 2nd year student in Electronics and communication engineering .In higher semester I may want to run circuit designing softwares like CADNENCE.
According to the system requirements it’s “recommended “ to have a dedicated GPU but sounds like this laptop would be able to handle it.

Hey, I am sorry to run into this issue, this is not a result of the command but more likely the problem with Asus image or image deployment. I usually just use my cell phone via USB cable(phone via tethering) to connect to the internet temporarily until windows updates automatically find and re installs the correct diver for the laptop. Please let me know if you need help to do that!
@@Scott.The.IT.Guy. yeah i need help how to connect with phone?
@@Scott.The.IT.Guy. i found it now i install updates on windows 11 and wifi icon its there now ty i told its imposible with phone to connect but its working now ty
@@Scott.The.IT.Guy. one more thing some updates give me error 0x80248007 when i install them you know why?
Sounds like something is corrupt. Is this a new laptop? I would try to run the built in windows troubleshooter first: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Windows Update > Run the troubleshooter. Let me know if this does not work for you , we can try a few other things.
Worked for me. Thank you
Glad it worked, Thank you!
10:08 Can a person upgrade that rear fan? Does Noctua make one? Oh and with the HDD drives I wonder if a person could convert to SSD with brackets maybe? I know my old XPS 8700 was and is great for upgrading parts! I just ordered a new XPS 8960.....pretty much like the one in your video except I am getting a black(Graphite) case and 1000W PSU. I also ordered a slim USB DVD drive as I still need an optical drive!! I should have bought an XPS last year when they still had the option for internal mounted ones! I love the XPS compact case design and am not a pro-gamer so I am happy to upgrade to a more modern XPS that I might be able to place some PC games on!! I got a Boxing Day discount in Canada of $350CA so my new XPS will still be expensive ($2569.00 CAD) but for where I need to put it and what I need I think it is fair enough pricing! I know it should last 10 years!! The old XPS 8700 I have has lasted 11 so far!!
Congratulations, it sounds like you got a great machine, also getting the 1000W PSU was a great choice, I am sure you are set for the next decade. I am sure you can just use brackets to convert the HDD caddy to SSD. Regarding the rear fan, I would not replace the Dell fan, it’s massive, looks like a quality piece and not loud at all. I work for a small shop where we only sell a few hundred desktops each year. 99.9% of the clients don’t need a DVD drive anymore. However, last week I had to build six high end custom computers, those had to have a blue ray writer, so yes some people still needs them. When I installed a Noctua CPU cooler, the motherboard was not detecting it and gave me a fan failure every time the PC restarted, however the fan was working fine, I would not worry about it.
@@Scott.The.IT.Guy. thanks for the reply!! I really appreciate it. I can't wait to receive my new XPS 8960! Great to know I probably don't need to do anything to it but use it!! Oh and try and transfer some files from my old XPS 8700 to the new. I am kind of sad I my old XPX has Windows 10 Pro but my new one will have Windows 11 Home not Pro!! It might make transferring files slower. Yeah I cling on to old DVD backups of photos I have! I should change that but I have been lazy. Good to know the Dell Fans aren't loud, I just assumed they were. I figured why not upgrade to 1000W PSU as there seems to be no aftermarket PSUs that fit. Better to have more power than not enough, eh! 🙂
This was disabled, it's no longer working 😔
I work for a small shop, I only set up 5-10 computers a week, have not ran into this issue yet, do you know when was this removed?
What is your recommended GPU for that machine please i have the 3070MT
Not sure what size power supply you have. Also not sure if the PSU has a 6 or 8 pin power connector or not. If you have least a 250w psu I would get a RTX 3050 oc or a Dell branded 6500 from eBay for cheap.
@Scott.The.IT.Guy. as far as I'm aware no extra power just from there ppci slot
Pretty sure you right, this is the video I made about cards like that: ruclips.net/video/FdjzCrTHclU/видео.html If you are gaming the the 3050 is a great option, if you just playing with older games the Dell branded RX 6500 can be very good options. I would also check the Intel cards.
Scott ❤!!!
Hi there! Thanks for checking in! Hope you had a great Christmas!
How’s this compare to Mac mini m4 for music production but? Thanks
Hey, I haven’t had a Mac for a while now and I am more like a windows person, but I think the Mac is better choice for music production.
Brother i did a screen replacement on a asus vivbook 15 i reconnected the battery to test the screen it said 'window updating do not turn off' but my dumbass disconnected the cable and now it wont turn on no light nothing can you help me pls i beg you brother
Ok, double check all the cables, disconnect the main battery and disconnect the coin size bios battery as well( if the laptop has it). Press and hold the power button for 20 sec, connect just the charger and see if you get any lights without the main battery .
@@Scott.The.IT.Guy. still nothing
You plug the charger in and no light ? Fan is not spinning? Try to re-seat the ram, check all cables, not sure what went wrong.
@@mohamedelkadi7142 Oh boy. I am sorry. Maybe a firmware update was going when you shut the laptop down :( You probably need a new motherboard maybe try another charger just to be safe, if you have two ram just try one at the time in diferent slots.
@@Scott.The.IT.Guy. thank you for your help, how Shure are you that it's the motherboard or is there a way I can check it so that I know if I need to buy a new one.
the i7 1355u faster and cheaper opinion pretty much the same processor
100% true! In some case the 13gen can be faster than the new ultra series and the battery can also can last longer. CPU is considered as the previous generation now; those will keep getting discounted. Dell still sells gen 12 i3 laptops for $250-280, hope the price will drop on these significantly.
My Precision 3561 never lasted longer than 4hr, great performance, not very mobile, more like moveable because you always need to have the charger connected.
Yes, so true. Have some users, doing actual work on the laptop, they said the battery last only 2.5 hours since day 1, otherwise it`s pretty reliable, they like it.
How if i already connect to wifi? The OOBE\BYPASSNRO command keep getting me to sign in
I am sorry, if it’s already connected to the Wi-Fi and typing the same, non-existing email account and password at least a few times does not work, you might don’t have too many options. In this case I always create a new “outlook” account log in with that, create a new local admin account, log on with that and just delete the online ☹ I am an onsite tech, setting a bunch of laptops up for clients, it’s so frustrating. They know exactly what they are doing.
