Ah, my 5 year old Latitude 5500 15.6" is getting replaced with 3450 14" (or 3550 15.6" if I want to), so not really an upgrade (besides specs) now, is it... At least it sits 95% of the time docked on my desk.
It can be a good option if you not moving around much, unfortunately the 5000 series and the 7000 series are not that great. I have many clients with new or a year old laptops and the paint is peeling off like crazy. They keyboard has an insane amount of wear I have never seen before:( I really wish that Dell would spend more effort on quality Instead of renaming the model to pro plus nonsense . Not to mention a price tag of $1600 as starter for a laptop with 16 gb of integrated ram with a 250 gb SSD and a basic low end screen:(
We stopped recommending these laptops based on our experience with the previously released 3000 models. If you are not traveling and the laptop stays on your desk 90% of the time, they will work. If your IT replaces them every 3 years that also helps. We do not make our clients replace their machines every 3 years, as long as the PC is reliable and fast enough to keep up with productivity, we are supporting them usually for 6- 8 years. Unfortunately now the Latitude 5000 & 7000 series are also having issues with peeling paint and keyboard wear downs we have never seen before so we also stopped recommending them :(
@@Scott.The.IT.Guy. Our IT would usually replaced our laptop every 3 years based on request, I was using dell latitude too previously but i requested to replace the laptop last month. I cant remember the exact model but it looks like this it was an i5 11th gen, and i really dislike the plastic body! :( i wanted to have the version with metal/aluminum body at least...hopefully my IT would consider it. thank you so much for your input, greatly appreciate it!
I know the 15” Dell XPS cost more and it’s not labeled as a business class machine, but that has a metal body with some carbon fiber, it’s a very durable machine I usually recommend for doctors and lawyers. My other favorite option is the HP Elitebook which has the best full metal body in business class , it’s a true workhorse laptop.
Good choice, it’s a significantly better machine, I would also look at the HP elitebook 660 G11 against the Latitude 5000. Sometimes those are on sale , truly customizable, I like those a lot as well. Let me know if you have any questions regards of configuration or anything else!
The older model the 5440 is on sale at Dell with 13 gen i5, 16 Gb of ram and the 250 SSD for $648 but the 5450 is also a great option. Other than Dell, HP elitebook 840 G11 or the older model is also on sale the 840 G10.
Glad to see you back in action. You look and sound a lot better.
Thanks! I feel better for sure!

Thanks for watching!
thanks for the information. I am looking for some 15 inch laptops. I will avoid this series and look at the 5000 series

Thanks for this video!
I need a good processor and at least 16GB of RAM and SSD, must be a 14' screen.
Do you have any recommendation for me?
Any thoughts about Latitude 5450? (Intel Core Ultra 7 165U vPro, 16GB RAM, 512SSD)
