Hello Scott! If I wanted to upgrade the power supply and add a low profile 53w GPU (RX 6400), would that be safe to do with this system without decreasing stability or lifespan? Thank you for the review!
In that case do not get a low profile card, you need a full hight standard card! That cpu can draw 117W max only periodically and only for a few seconds, you might be ok with the power supply you have right now. If you want to be extra safe get another psu with least 200-240W. Have you watched this video by any chance? ruclips.net/video/FdjzCrTHclU/видео.htmlsi=sh-9F4JTnkKFVIcS I would also look at the intel GPU options.
@Scott.The.IT.Guy. That video was very helpful! Thank you for the resource. I just got this computer and I'm the most concerned about longevity. I want it to be my workhorse for music and audio production for many years, while also being able to do some light current gen gaming on the side. What Intel GPUs do you recommend for this model?
These Optiplex desktop lasts 6-8 years at my clients where they run 24/7. None of them failed before the 5 years mark and I manage 1200+ computers. Intel Arc 380 would be one option but you have to make sure that it does not require additional power from the psu.
Love the info! Thanks!
Any time!
Thanks for the review 👍
No problem 👍
Thanks for the review!
Thank you!
I was pretty sure that the OptiPlex mini tower is way more upgrade capable than the small factory form, I guess I was wrong ?
I am surprised as well, looks like they are really pushing the standard plus.
I guess you have to get the higher spec model in order to get a less shitty motherboard (4x dimm slots, extra m.2 slot etc...)
👍
Thanks!

Hey,
Do you have a mini tower or a small form factor case? Do you know how large is your current power supply and what cpu you have?
@Scott.The.IT.Guy. mini tower. Same as in this video. The current supply is 180w and it has an i5-12500
