    Great detail... just a thought...there is something not right about your 160 to 180 yd shots. You are taking 6 iron for 172 and were well short and 6 again for 162 and you were short - you maybe need to check the lofts and carry yards in the 5 and 6 irons ? Lots of club use like you have can make the lofts change over time.

    @ArsenalDad 4 года назад

    Hi Genevieve! Have you thought about using an app to track your stats for each round? I've been using one called 18 Birdies that I like a lot, but there are a lot out there. Mine lets me keep notes on specific holes, like what club did you use off the tee, how many putts, fairways hit, GIR etc... It is helpful but also interesting as you can see progress and stats over a long period of time, not just at the end of each round.

    • @GenevieveLingGolf
      @GenevieveLingGolf  4 года назад +2

      Yes I use shot by shot but apps like these need to be paid for so essentially, I thought it would be nice to give people a way to track what the app tracks but without the use of an app. Haha if that makes sense. But yeah, like you said, with an app you can track and compile data which would help on the long run (unless you're hardworking enough to do it manually without an app!🥵)

    Hi Gen! I’m a beginner at golf. How do you get the most distance out of your clubs. I have mizuno efil the old version, for example you use p wedge for 100m and I would use a 6i for the same distance. I just want to be able to keep up playing with the boys since they hit way further

  • @Momo_8k
    @Momo_8k 4 года назад

    On hole 2: I thought downhill lies typically allow for clubbing down, as the ball is expected to run out? Obviously carrying the water takes precedence, but if there's no hazard would it have been closer to hit a 7i?

    • @GenevieveLingGolf
      @GenevieveLingGolf  4 года назад +1

      Definitely. But with the water hazard, the first goal is obviously to clear it! Because it comes down lower (even with the run out), you will have to anticipate that it won't fly as far so definitely need to make sure that the club you choose is one that will be able to carry the hazard a good amount of distance. So for instance, if it's 150 to carry the hazard, my 7 iron would've been able to clear it on a flat lie, but with the downhill lie, the 7 iron wouldn't make it so I would need the 6!

    How do you know the putt distances? I mean, 51ft?

    • @worldgonecrazy
      @worldgonecrazy 4 года назад

      I presume she paces them out Johan, its probably not exactly 51 but she'd know how long one step is and takes it from there, a lot of coaches will recommend pacing out a putts

    • @GenevieveLingGolf
      @GenevieveLingGolf  4 года назад +1

      Yes pacing! We used to do this in college where we would pace the football field because before I went over to the states, I used meters. So I pretty much know what one pace and one yard would feel like. I don't 100% pace out all the putts accurately all the time (sometimes I forget) but I have a rough estimate of what a 30footer or 60footer (etc) would look like 😊

  • @MPerski
    @MPerski 4 года назад

    A lot of people keep Fairways, Greens & Putts (I keep these stats for everybody in my Friday foursome), BUT...
    1. How do you use this data to improve?
    It’s interesting, and nice to see how we did compared to previous year, but ...
    I can say “I need to hit more fairways” (or greens)
    Easy to say, not sure how to do it.
    2. Do you believe in “Real vs Feel”? If so, can you do a video on this?
    Thanks, Gen
    ... keep up the good work 👍🏻

    • @GenevieveLingGolf
      @GenevieveLingGolf  4 года назад +1

      Stats help you figure out what you need to improve in terms of scoring. But I think overall, you should have a plan for your game as a whole. So for instance, if on one day I know that I didn't hit a lot of greens because I'm not striking my irons particularly well.. I could look at a couple things.
      1) Am I missing them all in the same side? Or all over/short?
      2) What am I working on in my swing right now and could that have an effect on this?
      So I think that you are absolutely right. You need to have a plan to do something about it. just knowing your mistakes doesn't mean you won't repeat them again!
      And as for feel vs reel, 100%, I believe that what we feel, a lot of times, isn't what is real, especially when we are making swing changes. Hope that helps 😊

    So these scorecard statistics, that is IF you only play the same course over and over again?

    • @GenevieveLingGolf
      @GenevieveLingGolf  4 года назад

      Not necessarily! I find that there will always be trends in your game of where you're excelling and where you probably need some work no matter what course you play in. The only part that might differ from one course to another is more around short game, eg. putting. Especially when green conditions/speeds etc. varies a lot in the courses you play 😊

  • @rosbifsa660
    @rosbifsa660 4 года назад

    Confused by fairway hit 7/9 - you count fairway hit but in rough, as 2 (and 3 as bad shot). I know it's your system but I don't understand how that counts as a fairway hit?

    • @GenevieveLingGolf
      @GenevieveLingGolf  4 года назад

      For which fairway?
      I write:
      (1) for fairway hit meaning stays in the fairway
      (2) fairway not hit but in first cut for example
      (3) fairway not hit and in rough and bad position
      so this was a system by the shot-by-shot app that helps to calculate shots gained and lost. So when you hit a tee shot that might not be in the fairway but doesn't cost you any strokes, you would write 2 and if you hit a tee shot that could potentially lose you a stroke, 3. Hope that makes more sense! ☺️

    • @GenevieveLingGolf
      @GenevieveLingGolf  4 года назад +1

      @@stashthevampede0 yes! I put 58 degree there because I don't think a lot of you guys want to read a lot of words on the screen but I think there were several reasons why I didn't hit that as close as I could've.
      1) Of course, the lie pushed it right so it didn't go straight towards the pin
      2) The distance was too far (I was focusing too much on being safe with a front pin that I wanted to make sure I got it all the way there)
      However, I think that even if I did pay more attention to the lie and aimed more left, I still would be a good distance from the pin, just probably directly behind the pin.. if that makes sense. So I always think distance is super important first and foremost! 😊
