    A simple round of golf with more relatable distances than the PGA Tour. We play the TPC Kuala Lumpur and Gen takes us around the course at a distance we can understand. it's not 7,400 yards of US Open turf. It's a championship course and Gen plays it ego free, like a baus.

    The pre-shot routine is amazing. It must be a routine that gets you in the zone for the shot. it CANNOT be a mechanic. If it's a mechanic, you're done. You need to be consistent and you need to practice it. You don't need to be as specific as Gen, but you can definitely improve this area o your game.

    All these great golfers have one thing in common - they all have such easy, smooth swings. My mind struggles to accept that an easy swing can move the ball further than an aggressive one, but there's no end to the evidence for it.

      Practice hitting something like a 6 iron 9 iron distance over and over by using a slower tempo and swing speed and you'll finally get that feeling. Then you can keep the easy tempo while increasing the speed and lag to get the full 6 iron distance.

    • @jdshilling
      @jdshilling 3 года назад +2

      I would say that what they have in common is great ball contact and a balanced finish. Not all golfers are smooth or slow, some are fast and jerky - just look at Nick Price videos, he is very fast, but always in balance. There is just no way to be consistent if you are moving all over the place, you have to stay steady. If swinging slower gets that done for you, that is a great choice.

    • @onsenguy
      @onsenguy 3 года назад +4

      Greg there are two reasons for it. First, by having very little tension in your swing you will pick up club head speed. The second reason is when you swing relaxed and smooth you are more often likely to find The Sweet spot.

    God the difference between your average Joe and the pros in the short game is just insane to watch. Never leaves herself anything over 8 feet for putts, automatic for anything inside 7 feet. Even her long par/birdie putts are never outside of 1-2 feet to give her that easy tap in while the rest of us are still sweating those 3-5 footers we let get away from us.
    Pre-shot routine is always important. Keeps good tempo and positive thoughts flowing. I have practically the same routine as her including the one club twirl as I walk up to address the ball too.

  • @growthwithjair

Most of the achievable things for amateurs are never talked about that could improve their game infinitely

Big kudos.

    It's interesting to see the thought process and see someone take a shorter club only to use a longer one on the second shot. Most people wouldn't think to do that but when it comes to taking danger out of play with your tee shot to save you strokes on that end it makes a ton of sense. The pro perspective on lies is insane!

    • @GolfSidekick
      @GolfSidekick  3 года назад +2

    Almost winter here in Canada and I'm so sad about it. This year I've improved so much and want to keep it going. Next season is going to be all about the short game within 100 yards and around the green because my up and down percentage is always mid teens to low 20%. I've been figuring I can save minimum 6 strokes per round by just getting up and down around 40% of the time. That's so huge and it shows how necessary it is by Gen's performance here.

    It’s amazing how consistent that routine is. Within 1 second every time! That’s what I need.

    Lovely lazy Saturday morning watching another Sidekick masterclass in the ways of the playa,took a lot from this Bruv ...I feel very conscious of my pre shot routine and worry I take to long but no more!! I'm gonna stick with it and forget the "get on with it" voices in my swede...Thanks great mate!😂👏👏

      Easy life. If you’re doing your preshot routine at the right time while other people are doing stuff, you won’t hold up play

    This is such a great video. She has such great composure and it helps us learn how to limit mistakes/risk shots to help us score lower.

    Off the tee box on 12, she called it. Driver would have required a perfect shot to carry the bunker, 3W would have rolled into the bunker and 5W place her middle of fairway short of the fairway.. WHADDAPLAYA!

    Every average/short hitting mid handicapper I know could learn a lot from this video myself definitely included. Next time I'm on the range I'm going to concentrate as much on a consistent pre shot routine as I am on the shot and make that part of my game.

    Idk Gen but I like how happy she is here. Smiles after birdie and a bogey. I like it. And she's a boss

    I've said this on other Gen videos. I am convinced that if she walked with me through 18 holes, whether she played or not, I'd shave 10 strokes off of my score each time.

      Yep. No ego. Just assessing each shot. Mental discipline is key. I've done it on rare occasion and shot even or under par. But only 1 round out of 100+

    The consistency of her finish position with each club is just amazing. It's obvious she puts in the time at the range to hone that amazing tempo and full rotation.
