@@GolfSidekick did you have a green reader that looks like a ball marker in your store. Hard for me to explain. It looked like a ball marker but it helped you read the breaks on the green. I could have the wrong website
Love the idea of addressing the ball with each club in hand trying to figure out which one feels right for the shot. I’ve always made that decision at the bag. Usually end up hitting it right in the tuba.
choosing the right club for the shot at hand = increases confidence = increases commitment = increases likelihood of hitting a good shot. It's just science 😉😹
Genevieve Ling I tried it out in my round this morning. Was between a 4 and a 5 iron on a par three. I didn’t look at the numbers after I addressed, just went with club that felt right. Turns out it was the 5.....and it was short. But it wasn’t in the tuba! So claiming it as a win.

Matt, I really love watching you and Gen. She is amazing, confident and an awesome golfer. I am learning so much from her! Talk about a young girl teaching an old dog (me) about golf! And you ask great questions. I could watch you two all day. Well done!
Love Gen’s attitude. She is using more or less same clubs per distance as I, she is sometimes a bit longer per club but her swing and accuracy to do the shot she envision is just far beyond my ability. And even if her accuracy was not the hottest today she had good recovery shots and that grass is not easy to control your wedges on. Great with the shot tracker and comments and texts. I give youb5🎖for this video. I really want to see more of her playing and telling us her shot thoughts. Lot to learn here
Just subscribed to you a few days ago, and I love your videos! No one on this platform is doing what you’re doing for golf and honestly adapting to zen golf has helped my game! Thanks!
What I love about these videos is you hear about the strategy behind golf. Obviously for everyday players they have to work on their technique and consistency, but once you are out there the strategy can save you some strokes.
Exactly playa that's the point to show people a point of view that they can see some new angles to shots some new ideas they could implement immediately without being coerced into making generic changes to a a dynamic swing.
My first round of golf was at a municipal near Birmingham. I shot around 150. That was a year ago... Now I'm shooting 85-95 in practice rounds and 100+ in competitions because I seem to hate pressure!
Golf is a mental as well as a physical game - if you can shoot 85 you're a pretty solid playa - for competitions I'd say try to avoid tracking yourself too rigorously - think 1 shot at a time and try and forget how many over par you are and those comps will be yours!
Very relatable and also shows that you can play the same distances, from the appropriate tees and score well with a great short game and some cool headed attitude
I love Gen I’m a big fan here I love her attitude but with pure dedication and hard work... She is smart and happy going makes me feel less tense when I’m reminded how she plays golf! Keep it up Gen 🥰 watching from UAE 🇦🇪

Today in the morning I took out the trash before my round and I saw a feather and planted it! On the 4th hole, easy par 4 I butchered the hole and started to get very upset. First course was a small public track in upstate NY called Monroe county club. It was nothing special, but holds a lot of memories since I used to play with my Dad as a kid, who sadly I'm unable to play with anymore. I'll always love it for that reason
The remedy isn’t in a video. I sure wish it was. The golf gods are much meaner than to allow that. Here are my recommendations. You really should take a short series of lessons or a serious chat with a low handicapper buddy to check that your fundamentals (stance, grip alignment) are sound or contributing to your poor shots. More importantly, you MUST MUST spend some time practicing to get any better. You’ll get the fastest results of lowering scores from improving your short game (chipping and pitching) and putting. How would it help your game if you were confident you could 2 putt every green or get up and down with different clubs from almost anywhere around the green? Get some good advice on these issues from a pro or a low handicap friend. If you spend half an hour two or three time a week, you’ll see dramatic results in a month.
@@robertcampbell8027 I hear you. I'm meeting tomorrow with a pro at the local course. I've got wiffle balls and have been hacking around my backyard for a couple months. Taking at least 20 swings per day. I had some luck with the Callaway "strap" golf aid to get my arms synchronized. My short game and putting are actually quite good. I can 2-putt nearly any ball on the green and have chipped in more than a few times. My problem is being unable to hit the ball consistently straight. The longer the club, the bigger the problem (obviously!). I played a scramble today on a difficult course and easily lost 10 balls. If I could hit every drive and approach shot 150 yards and straight every time, I'd probably make 90. Due to the profusion of lost balls, however, I'd be hard pressed to break 110 in reality.

I am the same way with my putting. I basically see the line as I walk up then just step into. But in the case where I second guess my line even once I go straight for the pin. By doing that you take out the uncertainty that causes putting confidence to go down and if there is a break one way or the other you will at least see it with less disappointment. At least then, if you play the course again, you will have a little more green knowledge and confidence in you read.
