I would say playing a much shorter course may improve hitting greens in regulation but you still have to hole the putts. I may not score better but it seems to be less work during the round. Sometimes I'll play the red tees with my wife but I'll play all irons. Gives the course a completely different look.
Yes you are 100% right! Because you hit shorter clubs, you have a higher chance of hitting GIRs but at the end of the day, if you don't score, you don't score 🤷🏻♀️
Your videos are wonderful. I only wish I had your skills. That is a beautiful golf course. My home course is a short one and I play the red tees. A lot of members of both genders do too. When casual players come, they often think “this is a short course, it’ll be easy, I’ll play the longest tees”. But the course is full of hazards and they often get their comeuppance!
Thanks for these vids! I love course management vids since I believe I can “think” my way to better scores when I don’t have time to practice my swing. Please keep these coming!
Nice video. Earlier this year I played off different tee blocks. It helped my course management immensely. It forces the brain to think! One thing that did not change was the putting. I had the same stats off the back tee right through to the forward tee.
Smart golf wins everytime. It's funny how easy it is to stray away from your smart plan and get chasing an outcome because of a bad break or dropped shot. Hard to stop yourself mid "brain fart" lol. Also funny to appreciate how narrow fairway landing areas gets overlooked & trouble lurks and tricky lies are found. Gr8 vlog.
Think about wearing a microphone on rounds like these where you are strategizing in real time. Record your thoughts before each shot. Then switch off the body mic to make your shots because the camera already picks up the colorful background comments and laughter, which is delightful. Then when you do your editing you will hear the plan you actually had on each shot. Instead, you are now remembering what you think you thought, and putting it into your commentary. Try it. You will see or hear the trends in your thinking as you played the round. Love the videos. Keep them coming. We have little golf right now, during the winter, and your rounds are fun to watch
Depends on so many factors, especially for us amateurs! (strenghts, lenght off tee, course set up, how straight you hit it etc.) Statistically you will shoot lower scores though. The data speaks for itself.
I think so too! Solely because you hit shorter clubs into the greens/have more chances of going for the green. As you said, there are definitely many factors that can affect it! 😊
I like how you’re keeping the front for back on the par three tee shots - however your last move of that foot puts it back in the old place and you seemed to hit everything right of the pin...keep working at it and play some rounds with what feels like a crazy open stance - last move pull front foot back two inches...love your swing ⛳️
I think you should refer to your Red tees as "forward tees" because here in the U.S. there are courses trying to remove the stigma attached with the Red tees as "Womens tees", by changing the tee colors, trying to get men to play from the forward tees when their abilities say so. Some courses are reversing the colors (blue front, white middle, red's back) or some courses are replacing those colors completely and placing handicap requirements for tees played to speed up play.
queen of lip-out birdies! 😄😄😄 for me personally, i'd definitely rather have more lip-out birdies than tap in pars because lip-out birdies give you a chance, but tap-in pars could still be short or offline.
That's so wild seeing you guys golf in the rain without a jacket.. that would be weird for me being so use to the rain that I don't even bother putting on a jacket. It doesn't rain that often here.
Gen... you're getting in better and better shape. You look magnificent. One of these days, all of those putts will lip IN. I hope I'm there to see it. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Love the slo mo swings, your driver swing is tremendous. How do you get your legs going and your hips clearing so well?? Is there a drill you use? Waddaplaya
@@GenevieveLingGolf then you really need to embrace your "awkward" distances, because they will make you the queen of birdies, and not the lipped out ones :)
Yeah or sometimes we just get so used to going up to par 4s and 5s and immediately pulling out driver that we forget to think about where we wanna be. Let's be honest, on most holes we CAN hit driver, but then what we SHOULD do is think about where the driver will leave us and whether or not it will be a desirable place to be in for our 2nd shot. So I don't think its always ego, per say. Sometimes it's just taking it for granted 😂
Merry Christmas! Another great video Gen. I'm a stat guy so I'd be curious if you compare 1) your average approach distance and 2) thedistance of your first putt between the front 9 and the back 9.
“First hole birdie curse” is definitely a thing... me and my mates play skins and we don’t ever want to be the one to win the first hole for the same reason. 😲
Gen, you are so awesome! I love your attitude towards this game. You also seem to be in great shape. What is your diet and health/fitness program/routine?
I have been watching you for awhile but your last video on the first hole for your second shot I said this a lot from you if you lay the club behind the ball and all you do is push the grass down you did it three times on the one shot
I love your videos! I've learned so much about short game and club/shot selection. What tripod, and editing software do you use? would you please link them? thanks so much Gen :)
You are such a great player to watch Gen. So do you want to land on the green closer to the hole or improve your mid to long range range putting or both?
I observed your putt misses most of the time on the low side...not agressive enough, but this will ensure close enough for a tap in. The drawback is making the hole smaller cause the chances of going in is only half of the hole. Just my personal experience, i rather miss it on the high side...
Hi just an observation I think but have you had a makeover of sorts 😀anyway back to golf I’ve always had your problem with aligning to the right, with my natural stance and I fight it every week. I average 3 fairways and play off 16. Any help appreciated 🙂
I play much better on courses shorter than I am handicapped from. When I have options off the tee rather than just taking driver every time then I can put a plan in place to give me my best chance of a birdie.
I always wondered how so many women, like yourself, can use a long driver shaft. Your toe is considerably up at address, do you expect the shaft droop to counteract that at contact? Maybe combining with a light bendy shaft helps?
Definitely the Queen of Tap In Pars, but hey this is a good thing because it means that you're always giving yourself birdie opportunities. Be patient...;-)
You're the queen of tap-in pars, of course - that means you play so well you have many par tap-ins and birdie chances :o) - always look at the positive side, right? haha

Queen of the tap-in-par, for sure. WAY more 8 inch par putts than lip outs! At least you have easy par putts!

Many 🌈 rainbows everywhere.
All those 'mauka showers!'.

What you did on 17 - every shot every time;) look at the flight of the draw on that shot because you’re not closed with your feet - awesome
