Thanks for taking us along on your trip! I really enjoyed it. Thank you.
Really a sweet movie! Thanks for making and sharring it with us! Keep up the good work.
I love that layout. I go there about every year. Its nice seeing a layout of my home town.
Outstanding!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing!
Awesome video! That looked like a great show and the layout in the Chicago Museum of science looked amazing!
This a great show exhibit, visited several years ago I was impressed with the whole Mus of Science and Industry. PS Their is a 737 hanging over your head and every now and then it takes off and lands. HO their a sub in the basement that is the only captured Sub of WWII. It at one time belonged to Germany.
Wow That Chicago layout is unbelievable, I would love to go to something like that and see it. I am more of a O-scale person but that is very nice. Thanks for posting.
I have been there before my cousin taking me there I enjoyed it very much and I will go back again when I visit the Chicago area
Thanks so much for your videos. I really enjoy them and keeps me motivated for getting my layout around. Hopefully I'll start building this summer. Just side note, the big waterfall scene just before you got to Seattle in the layout tour there is Multnomah falls here in Oregon, just outside of Portland. There is a a mainline bridge just at the base that is cool to go railfan. You can stand directly under it while trains cruise by at 6omph. U.P. on one side of the river and BNSF on the other.
BTW I really enjoy the dutch stuff it makes me proud to see it there in the states. :-)
Hope to see that one day so much to see
That Layout has sure gotten bigger.
The layout is all DC - they sought to make the wiring bullet-proof and did not want to use the then emerging DCC technology. Trains are controlled by a series of relays under the layout. MR did a great story on the MSI layout when it opened (2002- I believe the article was "WOW! a $3.5 Million Layout You Can Visit") and talked (albiet briefly) about the layout construction and wiring. It's always worth a visit!
after i saw this layout in person i got started into modelrailroading
The Chicago one looks like it had more than the one in Indy the weekend before. I'm going to the one in Cincinnati in March.
Luckily BNSF sponsors the layout at the MSAI. It cost $3.3 million to build. A very detailed layout and a must see.
thats a great layout the only reason i new about it was because they passed it on "i love toy trains" lol its a good layout i really like out i remember seeing it up there on that show...
Allow me to give you some facts on the CB&Q Zephyr. It started its service on May 26 1934. It was the first successful locomotive to use the two stroke diesel engine. This was the brainchild of Kittering, he was actually against the use of his design as a prime mover in a locomotive. The trip went from Denver Co to Chicago iLL. As a result this is what took place. The 1000 mile trip was completed in 14 hours. A top speed of 112.5mph and a fuel cost of $14.64. The landmark for the Pioneer Zephyr.
That part of the El-Train is the Red and Brown Lines going to the Loop and back to Kimble Ave.
Great really enjoyed !
Since your in the AF, if you ever get an opportunity to get to Travis AFB you should check out the sacramento railroad museum
10:01 I have to go and see the Museum again for sure. Never seen that part.
It seems that the museum updated the model trains they operated since I visited in 2009
To the multiple people who answered my question, thanks. It's quite unfortunate that they can't use DCC. The layout would be amazing for op sessions
@masterownerlml thanks, I fixed it....I was in the airport when I edited and uploaded this video.
That was magnificent. Thanks for the tour. I felt like I was there with you. How did you get in your car? What a jerk that person was. Again thanks for sharing.
@bklynsouth I did see Wrigley field.

so you made it up here to the schaumburg convention center? what did you think of the show? i was impressed with the Will County model rr club and how they combined they're layout with the Trainmasters modular layout. i attended on sunday, overall i was impressed with the showing of all the different clubs along with all the different scales, there were some very impressive modular layouts in attendance.......would have interesting to meet you....
@ROCKDOG5732 I had to literally climb in through the passenger door.

6:55 the ultimate Class 53 in HO Scale never was made in real life though cause of WWII

man i didnt see you, what day did u go? u should make another trip sometime, there is alot more trains to be seen!!
According to the Wikipedia page, its DC.
I didn't end up getting anything at the WGH Show either
you were only 10 miles from my town wen u were in laporte
After extensive searching I still can't find that intermodule boat I have been looking for one for a while. The one that was in the massive layout did you by any chance ask about that particular item?
Too bad Athearn's prices have shot up so much and their QC has declined proportionally.
@traingeekgraham Cool! where is it going to be?
What company are the 3D train pictures from that you saw
So is that first little city a Chicago layout?
Hey james are you going to springfield.
at 6:50 what steam loco is that?
Is that layout in the museum DC or DCC? Thanks!
sorry i didn't realize this video when i made my first comment
