I got sad news this morning we lost Neil he was the best modeler in the business. We will miss him and all the reviews he gave us over the years. RIP The Man Neil Besougloff Editor In Chief of MR 1957-2020 We will miss you Neil.

I really enjoyed the tour. Meeting Neil Besougloff, Dana Kawala and the rest of the MR staff had to have been the highlight of your visit, James. I would've liked to have met them myself. That was a great tour. Thanks for bringing me along.

What I found most interesting about this is the relative timing of things. The "snake" addition to the beer line was still a slab of pink foam, while the "Salem Southbound" layout was already finished. I remember reading about the beer line addition before the SS. Also noticed the SS gondola load project finished, even though that only appeared recently.

I visited Kaimbach 2 years ago. Eric White showed me around. They are ok with visitors of one or two people as long as you call them first to let them know you want to come. You can also visit the Walthers showroom.

I've been to Bailey yard several times over the years and enjoyed. When I first started going there you could wander around taking pictures without any problems, even into the engine service area as long as you had a hard hat. I've even walked along with and watched the pin puller at the top of the hump.
Sadly, those days are gone forever!
I lived in the Denver area and drove long haul trucks for years and visited many hot spots during my travels.
I have hauled everything from swinging lamb to US currency and coins for an armored truck load carrier. Yes, I've driven for Roadway Express, Yellow Freight (YRC) and even Nationsway (NW).
I'm currently building an n scale layout based on the UPS LaGrande sub from LaGrande to High bridge just west of Meachem, OR.
In closing I'd like to let you know that I enjoy your videos and keep them coming.

I mean these guys and gal (who was not seen) at MR do more then just bring us a great magazine every month. They continue to be the super stars of the hobby. As James and many others on You Tube continue to bring us goods and teach us more and more I'm really am thankful. PLEASE TELL ME THEY WILL MAKE THAT MR LOCO IN N SCALE. LOL. A man can hope and dream you know.
Thanks for sharing the MR&T looks really good.

+William Arseneau I drove up there last year for the tour. Seeing everything and all the celebrities in person was well worth the trip. 2D videos are great, but seeing the things in 3D is fantastic. Everyone, to a man, treated me like royalty. They hid Jenny from me, though, so, I guess I'll have to go back this year. If you do go, and are close, take in the UP yard at North Platte. Pictures don't do it justice, either.

MR Staff got our request and Cody and Atlas painted up a locomotive 1175 and placed Andy's name right underneath the cab. It is a fitting tribute to a man who taught us all to enjoy the hobby of model railroading if it was not for Andy none of us railfans would be here today the MR&T is almost as old as I am this is one reason why I like this layout Andy taught us how to run trains on it. Although I did not pick up any issues of MR until I was a teenager Andy appeared each week on Tracks Ahead which I watched until I had to go to church or school. We all miss Andy Atlas did the right thing when they chose to put his name on the cab of that locomotive Andy built the MR&T and he was the host of a video plus series called The Operators which also appeared on the final page of MR. RIP Andy.

Nice video James you got to go to MR Headquarters and met my friends at MR. at 0:43 is Dana, 2:56 is Mr. Goofball, Mr. N Scale, and The Host of Video Plus David, 9:33 The Man himself Neil Besougloff Editor In Chief of MR, 12:55 Hal Miller Managing Editor and Host of The Roundhouse, 13:09 Eric White Graphics and Host of 3D Layout Tours and Co Host of MRVP Tec and now Host of Model Railroader Review, 13:23 Steve Otte Host of the Project Railroad Layout Tours, Host of Quick Tips, and Moderator of the MR Facebook Page, 13:34 Cody (headed to get a drink he is shooting Cody's Office and Workshop), 13:48 Kent Producer of Video Plus and David's Second in Command, 18:53 and the Star of MR Magazine and the King of Layouts The MR&T. In 1988 this layout was built by Andy (RIP) since that day MR Staff has built the layout from scratch and added their mark to the layout. Every building on the MR&T is named after a member of the MR Staff from Al Kalmbach to Cody Grivno and some of the newer guys at MR. Most of the buildings on Kelly's Island are now Walthers kits in HO and N Scale and they were built by Art Curren and Jim Kelly. Recently David and Cody moved some of them and this section of the layout is being rebuilt some of these models might end up in the MR Museum later. 21:30 Introducing for the first time on the tracks MR&T 1175 The Andy Sperandeo a fitting tribute to Andy and his work on the MR&T Railroad and as Sr. Editor of MR. This model is made by Atlas and was painted by Cody Grivno and Atlas as a tribute to Andy and his work at MR. In this shot 1175 gets ready to lead a stack train out of Milwaukee to Bay Junction at the end of the line a special tribute train to Andy because it has some of his Santa Fe and Rio Grande rolling stock. 24:10 Here is Bay Junction this is the 2011 project layout David, Kent, Andy, Dana, Cody, Steve, and Neil rebuilt it from scratch and made it what it is today. Bay Junction is the interchange between WSOR and the MR&T and the Winter Hill Branch which is the 2013 project railroad. Trains come into Bay Junction to interchange with the MR&T or WSOR and the switchers parked on the tail track do all the work. Trains headed to Troy cross the Odegard Bridge which is west of here and go through the wye at Troy Junction on the WSOR which is the 2008 project layout. Bay Junction is the west end of staging helpers are assigned to coal trains here and pushed up the hill to Lake Beulah where they are set out and return light to staging. On most days you will see the Bay Junction Switcher moving cars in the yard or heading up to Lake Beulah or switching the quarry and shingle plant in Winter Hill. Cody and Dana did the grain elevator and the fertilizer plant , Jim Hediger did the factory, Andy did the corn syrup plant and the culverts, Neil did the station, Kent did the bridge and the billboard, Steve did the town, Jay Smith, Kent, and David did the backdrop and David and Cody did Turtle Creek Canyon and the highway bridge. to make it look modern Andy installed signals they are turned off now and will be hooked up later. As of 2019 Cody has wired up the signals using Logic Rail boards to power the signals and operate the gates. Eric installed Walthers switch throws and Ben installed Aculite snaps and Walthers snaps on the switch motors to wire them to the electrical system. The MR&T uses three systems on each section of the layout but they are all interconnected. The Milwaukee section all the way to Winter Hill is powered by a CVP Easy DCC system which is also used for dispatching this has since been replaced by an NCE Commander and a Digitrax Wifi Pro. The WSOR and Bay Junction are powered by the NCE Power Cab and all sections use wifi throttles supplied by ESU and Digitrax.
