If you are referring to the hub, it won't come off until you loosen the spindle nuts as that is mounted to the spindle which is the last thing that you remove before being able to pull the shafts out. The Drum itself is mounted to the hub, so you would have to pull the whole hub to remove the drum. If you mean the spindle at the end, that he left the bearing on, we were going into a further tear down, so axle shaft removal was next on the list.
