New WCR video! Dropping some serious knowledge for free!
Hi Neil
17:20 can get really tricky, as like the old tractor i have... 1965 massy 60HP, and the rototiller with the made in Columbia bearing. it got 20 degrees of pinion wobble before the driver cared to say anything, luckily not braking any gear teeth. tho the case and the race the bearing sat in... wore out 3/8 larger then the bearing... gear noise... hmm. was easier to drill out the case and punch it all out with a hammer, then weld a new spring steel backplate and race band to the cast iron case. a 60HP tractor with a 600rpm PTO... 3 inch ford/timkin bearing common to the ford 8.8 axle differential carrier ratted for around 5500lbft... if the welds on the cast iron over the aria hold 900psi. tree roots, gear noise = machine and "sleeve/+0.5 inch" bearing races.
It would be nice it the weld on tabs were extended so that they can be bolted on for future repairs.
Looks awesome! I want to put Detroit lockers in all three of my chunks of my M813. Thanks for your videos!
Intense
Nice design
Could these be usually on DRW f350’s? That’s the setup I’m planning. Thanks
Yes they can, with the correct wheel adapters
Where did you order your flanges from?
We sell them, drop us a line or visit our website
This would be sweet on my jeep 😂
How did I end up in Big G@y Truck Land!?! Just kidding, looks like you build cool stuff.
hi neil
i want a set of those. Ill build a fummins v2.
Exciting!
Top loaders for life!
It's unfortunate that Meritor didn't manufacture a portal axle gear box like the ones on the Humvee.
I've been looking everywhere for everything you explained in this video thank you very much!
Beef!
it was so cold outside last week... but i do think the rear axles are not riveted in square, the tubes are pitched forward to give the rear end toe angle? "! the only drive axle that works when its -55 !" have to get some custom 350lb/in load assist shocks for the AAM1150 in the car, the 12'' 4.10 gear is silly for a car but, really annoyed at how expensively flimsy the 8.8 and some 9'' diff's are.
Hey great video. I recently put together a 5 ton mega truck. Sometimes with any RPM I will lose steering and I will have to rev up a few times before I will get it back. I have a dual rams do I believe I am not running the reservoir low when turning. Any thoughts?
Sounds like air is possibly getting in the system somehow, that or the pump is getting weak
even wonder how quick a 3700 pound car would go if it had a fully loaded AAM1150 of dana 80 under it only lightly twist bending the inner drive shafts at the end of a 1/4 mile? what is torque
I have no idea where you get those things, but i thought the 1ton AAM1150 i got put in my car was cool... still is but... 😳
Canada, banning the sale of surplus military vehicles to private citizens and decreeing that all surplus vehicles only be sold for scrap is a real boon to Western Canadian Rockwell. I dreamed of owning my own military 6x6 ever since I drove one when I worked in mineral exploration, when I was younger. My intention was to build a heavy duty, offroad capable R.V. type vehicle for my own prospecting ambitions, sadly now I have to build something different now from available parts. Still, looking at buying some if the parts I need from here though.
Drool. 🫠 How much? And how many are there available? 🤔
Yep lots available prices start at $550
where do i buy? is there a model/part number for this front suspension?
You can contact us through our website www.westerncanadianrockwell.ca
Uuffff 💯
Very Informative thank you. I need to stop by and chat you up.
hoooly...!😳😲

Excellent video! Tops! I have a 1979 5ton M813 with 16.00R20s. Question, If I have my truck fully loaded, say 10,000 lbs and have a spool in both the rear axles and drive on the street making a sharp turn(as tight as this setup would let me) do you think I am going to be breaking axle shafts? In your experience can the 5 ton axle shafts handle that kind of stress? If not I guess I should be looking for Detroit Lockers. Thanks ahead of time for any reply.
If your driving on the street Detroit lockers are definitely a better option than a spool
🤮
Great info LOL at the 4 min 50 sec part pointer finger You caught yourself lol
This is one of the best informative quality videos ive ever seen Thanks
Are younlocated in camada. Saw palm trees. Question is do you work in these axles for customers? I have a couple I need done
Yes we are located in sylvan lake Alberta, we do take on Axle repairs for customers
Onde comprar peças rochwell
Www.westerncanadianrockwell.ca is our website where you can purchase the parts for rockwells
Could 2 of the wide halves be bolted together and new centers welded in?
Yep we did a set like that for a big set of floater tires
I hate to be the one to tell you but this was very beneficial to me working on tractor steering, is there another video on cavitation.
😂😂😂 bullllshittt😂😂😂
That was a whole lot of sexy in a short video! 🫠
Cat “there is no way that axle is coming out!” Forklift “hold my beer. And the end of this chain.”
0:29 Bob: Zzzzzzz… 0:30 you: “you alive?” 0:31 Bob: time to make the murder muffins! 0:32 you: scratchy-scratch 0:33 Bob: makesing the murder muffins for the next video! 😂😂😂
I cut some wheel centers out of mild... hope they take it easy on them. 😢
Best investment I’ve made in years!
Except those should be foam filled so they wouldn’t flex. Right? That looks like a loader tire.
Its designed to flex like that for use in soft terrain
Can you buy meritor IFS modules like this new? I know they can be fitted to Ford super duty series trucks.... definitely would be interested in upgrading to meritor axles and suspension.
Yes you can I believe, to buy new they are $20,000+ is the only thing,

I need help ,I need to know the diameter both inside and out side of the outer knuckle where the spindle bolts on . I also need to know the thickness of that mounting surface as well , I also need the bolt pattern of that flange . .I am designing a gear box . I have been to 3 four wheel drive shops and all over the internet and i really need this info and can't find it anywhere .Any help would be so greatly appreciated thank you
Send an email to neil@wcr-inc.ca
@@WesternCanadianRockwell thank you so very much
Matt's heavy wrecker needs one to power those axletechs. He was spitting np205 parts like sunflower seeds haha.
I think it's only rated at 300hp or something weird. 🤔. I could be wrong. But yea I was surprised that 205 broke twice= 3 shafts
@@ICOM1219 yeah because the axletechs have the gear reduction hubs which is supposed to reduce driveline stress. But I guess an 8.1 BBC and 54s don't care lol
The T-600 are rated for 400 input hp and 1400 ft lb of torque
@@WesternCanadianRockwellperfect for my truck, I’m getting an motorhome Cummins isl engine, it’s around those numbers Do you still have a good supply of axle tech 4000 with dcdl ?
I wonder if they would swap under a h1...
I’m sure they’d fit under a Barbie jeep if you tried hard enough! 😂
@@WesternCanadianRockwell my barbie jeep couldn't handle that lol. My father has a 98 hummer h1 civilian that's nice. The breaks are just terrible because the inboard rotors are small and turn so fast.
What is the final ratio on those? Do they have an air locker?
They are the same as the Meritors so you can get a 3.07 or 3.90 for them, and just the Detroit style lockers are available.
@@WesternCanadianRockwell that's a high ratio. That before the gear reduction hubs?
@@jeepindave5464 yes it is before the reduction in the hubs . take that and multiply by 2 at the begin it says 7.80
@@huckstirred7112 that's make more sense
I am working on a geared reduction hub for the 14 bolt . 2 double helix gear 3 inches wide and 3 inches tall in front to reverse the rotation and 4 gears in back to keep the rotation standard. With 2 1/2 Rockwell knuckles
where do you get a suspension like that
We have them up for sale on our website! westerncanadianrockwell.ca/products/meritor-ifs-axle
