  • Canon M50 + Yongnuo 50mm + Speed Booster = Full Frame Beast?
    The Canon M50, if used with a good set up, is a very good camera: in this case I tried it with the Yongnuo 50mm 1.8 with the regular Viltrox adapter and with the speed booster.

    Great video! This can be a killer set up for shooting inside and in small spaces where there is not so much depth of field. Keep rocking!

    try another color for your shelf lighting, doesn't look that great. the blue tones behind you work, but maybe you can experiment with another color for the shelf

    I just love this video because I knew I wanted to get the youngno 50mm lens but I was wondering if I should get the speed booster or a regular adapter. Now this video just helped me decide thanks man.

    I have the canon M50 also using Viltrox speedboost. i had the Yongnuo and returned it to spend the extra money to get the Canon 50 1.8. The autofocus noise was unbearable in the Yongnuo imo

      Thanks! 👍 Ah...about epidemicsound...they make very cool music...yes....but most of all it's peace of mind!! I remember when I didn't have it and every time I had to look for music to use in my videos it was hell just to look for songs around the web without the risk of copyright infringement.

    Hi Dan, awesome video. i have recently bought this set up (M50+speedbooster and 50mm) but im having issues with autofocusing - i have set the lens to AF and the camera to video mode, i tap the area where i want the lens to focus but nothing is happening. can you shed some light and tell me what im doing wrong ?
    thanks, all the best.

      i dont think he mentioned it, but as far as i know thats the the downfall of using converters or boosters. that the auto focus then sometimes struggles a little. but if using on manual , then no issue.

    I’m using a speed booster on r10 with ef 50mm. It shows a focal view of 35mm on the camera and not 56mm

    • @DanFrullani
      @DanFrullani  11 месяцев назад +1

      the Canon R10 is a crop sensor camera, you put a 50mm....you get the field of view of an 80mm, you put the speed booster....you get the field of view of a 35mm lens on a crop sensro...so 56mm....like if you're using a 35mm lens instead of a 50.

    Bro can you faces any focus hunting problem using viltrox speed booster 🙏 reply pls

    • @DanFrullani
      @DanFrullani  Год назад +1

      Yes, it happens when I use it with the 50mm from relatively far away...let's say from 12 feet away it starts focus hunting quite a bit to find the face of the subject if they move much. From a closer distance I've never experienced this issue.

  • @mattduncan5500

    @Dan Frullani Hey dan, theoretically. Lets say you have the speed booster and 50, which makes around 56mm
    and then you had a 56 mm lens, made/fit for that camera.
    Would the be any benefits from the the speedbooster setup? would get get a better depth of field of something .
    Or is it simply, to try and achieve a similar result , at a lower price

    • @DanFrullani
      @DanFrullani  2 года назад

      If you use a 56mm (full frame) you would have an 89 or 90mm on a crop sensor camera, with the speed booster it would become a 63 or 64mm....and its aperture would gain one stop. The bokeh or shallow depth of field, assuming the 56mm has the same aperture of the nifty fifty of F/1.8, would actually be a little bit more shallow because of the extra millimeters producing some extra compression. However, if the 56mm you're talking about was meant for that camera....it means you would not be able to use the speed booster with it (you can use the speed booster to adapt EF lenses to M mount cameras)....so, keep in mind that using the speed booster with the Nifty Fifty you get the field of view of a 56 and a maximum aperture of F/1.2....so in order to decide if it's better the setup with the speed booster or the 56mm without it...(which would corrispond to an 89mm) it will depend pretty much if you're ok with the field of view and its maximum aperture.

      @@DanFrullani thanks so much for getting back to me dan. Gonna have to review this a few times to get a grasp on it.
      But maybe a easier comparison. I have a ef nifty fifty already from old canon. Also just spotted a 50mm 1.8 with emount cheap second hand.
      The cost is gonna be pretty close buying that lense or a speed booster
      Trying to work out if you should convert the ef 50 for my A6300. Or get the fit 50
      🤔🤔🤔

      My question is along similar lines. If you consider speed booster + 35mm FF lens (1.6 crop *35mm * .7boost = 39mm FF equivalent)
      How does that compare to a similar effective FF FL say, 22mm EF-M lens (35mm equivalent).
      Essentially, for a given FF equivalent FL, would it be worth going speedbooster + EF lens or a lower FL aspc lens?
      I hope that made sense. I assume you still enjoy the aperture benefit of using the speed booster but that's depended on the actual lenses being tested.

    • @mattduncan5500
      @mattduncan5500 2 года назад

      @@bmoc15 yeah from the sounds of it , i think you covered it all. you will get a little more light and loose a tiny bit of clarity with speedbooster . but they would essentially be the same besided that

    The Canon Nifty Fifty f/1.8 is $125.00. For the extra few dollars you're way ahead of the game with the Canon. The Yongnuo is a cheap lens and I wouldn't trust it. I use a Canon f/1.8 50mm with a Viltrox speed booster on my M-50 and the images are great. I only shoot still photography not video.
