I use it with my 50mm 1.8 STM on the Canon M50, before I have a tough time on tight shots like indoors, now It is just right, not too far not too close and I gain a boost on low light, so it's a win win.

Yes! There you go. I know you love it. I use the speed booster on my 50mm and my 85mm prime lenses. Works like a charm. I have the adapter too but the speed booster definitely gets more lens time.

The f-stop isn't really f1.2 with the speedbooster. f-stop is affected by crop factor too. So, the 50mm f1.8 is f1.8 on full frame sensor, f2.88 on APS-C with adapter and f2 on APC-C when using the speedbooster. The speedbooster mis-represents the f-stop as f1.2. This was one of several reasons that I had for returning mine to Viltrox. Battery life (which seems to be fixed now) was the main issue.

Zdenka Darula Yeah, me too. I don’t mind either. Earlier on the year I sold all my full frame camera and glass and got a Fujifilm and to be honest I’ve been happy. I just don’t zooms though since the fastest is an f2.8 which is essentially an f4 on crop. There’s even an f1.0 33mm AF coming. They take crop sensor seriously. Canon full frame RF lenses are amazing though.
I was out with my girlfriend today at a party. She had her rebel T7i with a 50mm lens and was taking amazing photos. I had my m50 and only the kit lens and a 22mm lens. It was really depressing how much better her photos were turning out with that 50mm. I need a speed booster lol
Hi, I just subscribed to your channel and I really like your videos, I have a request for you if possible, I have a small studio at home and I Own an 80d with some prime lenses, but I'm really interested in the M50 just for photos but I haven't seen anywhere someone testing this camera on a studio setup or on a wedding or any more professional shoot, so my request will be if you can review the M50 on any of these setups using ef prime lenses on a more professional shoot please, thanks
Thank you for your comment. I did take the camera to a wedding last weekend. I was super happy with the camera during the day and I was shooting lots. I was using viltrox speedbooster, 50mm and also telephoto lens... In the evening I wasn't using flash, only the available light so yes I got more grainy images then with the full DSLR. Most clients won't mind, but some might want less grain. I haven't tried the studio lights and such but I will test it out... it is a entry level camera... for serious professional work I still prefer full DLSR which is faster and has full sensor which brings in more light, which means less grain... just an honest answer, but i will make a video on that for sure. I have a tamron 17-50 which is also for crop sensor lenses. You will get a vignette if you combine both the viltrox m2 and the sigma lens. Your lens is smaller and the adapter will amplify the vision of that lens which causes the vignetting

I choos the speedbooster with sigma 18mm 35mm and for my case will be perfect even with the viggnetting effects beacous I can keep it 18 and just cut the screen edges from OBS for my life stream! I will still have the dept of field just the screen will have different retio but I have like 5 different screens and thats also works great for me! I have the EF m 15 45mm for other cases! I just really need that sigma lenses and speedbooster for my low light situation

Zedenka, I hated the original Nifty-Fifty and wrote often against advising anyone on APSC to buy one. With the new STM version, I have moved significantly in my position on it. I advise you to do the same, UPDATE your 50mm/1.8 to the STM version, you won't regret it AND you'll be able to shoot better than B-Roll. Take home points for me from your video: a) The Kit lenses have their place; b) low light conditions with EF lenses use the Viltrox; c) With EF lenses for sport and wildlife, or greater distance shooting, use the standard adapter. Sharpness is great... even when I showed those 2 photos at 100% from telephoto, it is sharp... right settings are important here.. the edges with speedbooster might be little bit on sift side but I had very shallow aparture so perhaps that is why..... I hope it helps. Have a great day! 😁📷🌷

I recently acquired a canon rebel T6 with lenses and I'm curious to know if this booster will work on this camera? I went to the Amazon link in description and I didn't find a clear answer. I know the rebel T6 is considered by some as a "beginners camera " but it was a good deal an it's not the first or only camera I've owned and used. I'm a m50/speedbooster user and I've noticed intensive amount of fringing and it definitely ruins the photo quality. Don't buy the speedbooster, buy viltrox/sigma 1.4 lenses instead.
there might be chances when the lens can encounter with the booster glass while zoom in .. I guess .. please bring some light into it. If it is so.. Thanks for the video..

I have a M50 mark II. I recently purchased a speed booster. However, when I use it with a Tokina 11-16mm lens I get vignetting on 11-13mm focal lengths. Is this normal or a defect? Do I need to change a setting to remove the vignetting?

I just got the Speedbooster for my M50, I put my Canon f2.0 135mm lens on it. It change the lens to an f1.4 95mm lens. I don't understand why it went from a 135mm lens to a 95mm lens. A reply from anyone will be appreciated.
I've had my speedbooster for about a year now and it works awesome on my M6 with all my EF lenses EXCEPT my Irix 15mm f2.4. When installed on the speedbooster the camera shuts down. If I turn the lens just a little on the booster the camera will stay on but will still not function. I've tried everything possible to no avail. Any tips? Anyone else have this problem? Oh, the Irix works perfect with the EF-EFS to M adapter but then I have the crop factor.

I believe with that reducing to f1.2 you get more light. But you don’t get more bokeh. Is that right? Or is that even possible? Also I didn’t notice the battery drain if I leave the lens and viltrox adaptor on. Perhaps it’s very gradual. Thank you for your video. Finally a great video explaining what we will be expecting if we buy the speed booster ! It’s concise and so well explained ! As I have mostly Nikon lenses. I don’t think it will be useful (and cheaper) for me to by the speedbooster. And the autofocus noise I hear in your video is annoying! I have EF-M mount (22mm) and the kit Lens. I was looking at buying this booster, but, they only make them to adapt from EF-M to EF/EF-S mounts. I'd need one that is EF to EF, but, that doesn't seem to exist! Must be for some obvious technical reason that I'm unaware of.

Nice review! I got mine a few months ago. The Viltrox Speedbooster pairs perfectly with Canon’s 40mm 2.8 STM pancake lens and the smaller Zhiyun Weebill Lab gimbal for video. I have bigger gimbals & cameras, but wanted something I could create cool cinematic video effects with (like “inception 360 barrel roll”, etc) as well as something that I could travel easier with while having a smaller form factor. Makes the 40mm a much wider, useable lens by bringing your view closer to (albeit a bit over) 35mm while giving you a very much more wide open 1.8 aperture. My new favorite video combo.

Hey question for you so I got the booster and wanted to pick up a wide angle lense tried the sigma 10-20 and at full out at 10mm I get real bad vignettes and it won't go away until I go to 14mm kinda defeats the object please help really want a wide angle got the efs adapter coming as well
Unfortunately with wide angle lenses it can happen. I unfortunately don't know wide lenses so I cannot recommend but hopefully someone else will see this question and help with answer...

Love it with my ef 70 to 300 mk 2 get 2.8 to 3.5 so indoor sport or lowish light long lens or the reach with reg adaptor the sig 150 600 works well too a few lenses ef but for apsc eg some sigs have vinegretting at the widest ends zoom a bit and goes
Sorry, little realised fact that the f stop is affected by the crop. It is physically impossible to gain more f than the original lens Multiply the f stop when you multiply the focal length. This is why crop sensors gather less light.

Yes Speedbooster will not make it fully full frame... there is 1.13x crop... much closer to full frame though. 🤗📷📽🌞

For battery drain just update the firmware of viltrox speed booster...it worked now no more drain
I must be lucky; mine doesnt have that problem. I can even leave it on the camera and battery would still be the same.

Canon crop factor is about the worst of them all although not by much.
The crop on Fujifilm is 1.53x. Pentax is also similar.

The answer is: NO. VILTROX Speedbooster can change CANON EOS M50 into full frame MILC camera, as it does not have a mirror. ;)

Thank you very much. Speed booster works only with EF lenses (full frame) kit lens is M lens (micro third) so you cannot use it with that lens

I'm a m50/speedbooster user and I've noticed intensive amount of fringing and it definitely ruins the photo quality. Don't buy the speedbooster, buy viltrox/sigma 1.4 lenses instead.

You will get a different focal length.. it will be more zoomed in with speed booster

I have a M50 mark II. I recently purchased a speed booster. However, when I use it with a Tokina 11-16mm lens I get vignetting on 11-13mm focal lengths. Is this normal or a defect? Do I need to change a setting to remove the vignetting?

I just got the Speedbooster for my M50, I put my Canon f2.0 135mm lens on it. It change the lens to an f1.4 95mm lens. I don't understand why it went from a 135mm lens to a 95mm lens. A reply from anyone will be appreciated.
Yes... you have to multiply it by 0.71 and then don't forget the cropped sensor... multiply 1.6
I've had my speedbooster for about a year now and it works awesome on my M6 with all my EF lenses EXCEPT my Irix 15mm f2.4. When installed on the speedbooster the camera shuts down. If I turn the lens just a little on the booster the camera will stay on but will still not function. I've tried everything possible to no avail. Any tips? Anyone else have this problem? Oh, the Irix works perfect with the EF-EFS to M adapter but then I have the crop factor.

I believe with that reducing to f1.2 you get more light. But you don’t get more bokeh. Is that right? Or is that even possible?
Also I didn’t notice the battery drain if I leave the lens and viltrox adaptor on. Perhaps it’s very gradual.

Finally a great video explaining what we will be expecting if we buy the speed booster ! It’s concise and so well explained ! As I have mostly Nikon lenses. I don’t think it will be useful (and cheaper) for me to by the speedbooster. And the autofocus noise I hear in your video is annoying! I have EF-M mount (22mm) and the kit Lens. I was looking at buying this booster, but, they only make them to adapt from EF-M to EF/EF-S mounts. I'd need one that is EF to EF, but, that doesn't seem to exist! Must be for some obvious technical reason that I'm unaware of.

I know this is a really late comment, but how is the 24-105 f4 on M50 with speedbooster? Does that make it stop down to f2.8 also?
It is very close to what you get with DSLR.... it will make f stop in numbers smaller but not visually... it is not really a difference 📱📹📷🌞

This is not for kit lens…. Only for EF lenses
Nice review! I got mine a few months ago. The Viltrox Speedbooster pairs perfectly with Canon’s 40mm 2.8 STM pancake lens and the smaller Zhiyun Weebill Lab gimbal for video. I have bigger gimbals & cameras, but wanted something I could create cool cinematic video effects with (like “inception 360 barrel roll”, etc) as well as something that I could travel easier with while having a smaller form factor. Makes the 40mm a much wider, useable lens by bringing your view closer to (albeit a bit over) 35mm while giving you a very much more wide open 1.8 aperture. My new favorite video combo.

Hey question for you so I got the booster and wanted to pick up a wide angle lense tried the sigma 10-20 and at full out at 10mm I get real bad vignettes and it won't go away until I go to 14mm kinda defeats the object please help really want a wide angle got the efs adapter coming as well
Unfortunately with wide angle lenses it can happen. I unfortunately don't know wide lenses so I cannot recommend but hopefully someone else will see this question and help with answer...

Love it with my ef 70 to 300 mk 2 get 2.8 to 3.5 so indoor sport or lowish light long lens or the reach with reg adaptor the sig 150 600 works well too a few lenses ef but for apsc eg some sigs have vinegretting at the widest ends zoom a bit and goes

Sorry, little realised fact that the f stop is affected by the crop. It is physically impossible to gain more f than the original lens
Multiply the f stop when you multiply the focal length. This is why crop sensors gather less light.
