So, I decided to get a Canon m50 a few weeks ago and quickly became overwhelmed learning it all. Your video's are full of great content and make this process a lot easier!
This video was surprising to me! The EOS R was still clearly the superior in this case, but for the price differences, it definitely seem worth having the M50 over the EOS R. That is, if you're on a tight budget.

Yeah I love mine!!! I just got a softbox and Godax S60. Man, the A Roll in my newest video looks so much better. My buddy leant me his 50mm EFS so I bought the adapter, but it turns a 50mm into an 80mm. If I get the speed booster does it surve the adapter from EFS to EOS-M?

I was just trying to watch reviews on the Canon M50 so that I know that for a lower budget it will be the best decision. It worked so close to the EOS R that I really feel like this is going to be the best for me.
Amazing the difference when you upload in 4K how much better HD looks - RUclips restricts the bitrate of HD heaps - so it's always better to uprez HD to 4K export - so you get MAX quality... HD can look damn good with enough bitrate! that comparison at 9:30 shows how little there is in it (unless you need a lot of cropping).. Great stuf Potato - you should upload in 4K for your HD footage - big upgrade in Potato quality via RUclipss bitrate allowance... would love 10bit internal HD in a Mirrorless - looks like Panasonic are first with the s1 - hoping Sony and Canon join the battle :)

I honestly don't see the point of people wanting to film in 4K unless it's a larger production. The M50 is great for the price compared to other models. 1080p60 is, and will be great for quite a while!
when the EOS R was launched, it basically pissed on the M50 from a rather great height. full-frame vs APSC, wider selection of lenses, etc. my videography channel is only starting to get ramped up, but it's nice to know that there's some options for full-frame lenses to make up for the DISASTER of a lack of a range that the Canon M series has.

Well right now in my country, Venezuela, a lot of stuff is happening so for me, having a camera (even a pretty cheap one), would be equivalent to work for like 2-3 years and do not spend a single dollar in anything else (and trust me I'm not exaggerating), so it would be great if I can have this one. Also I really love the film production world and I'll like to have something with a good quality so I can maybe start offering my services for big customers. Right now I had only used cameras from some not-so-close folks for like two videos that I wanted to make, but I want something mine so I can learn a lot with it.

That speedbooster is really interesting, you could slap it on an original eos m with magic lantern and you’d have an insane lil movie making bokeh machine
Frank Feng I think that crop is only if you shoot RAW though. I believe you can still shoot higher than normal bitrates and 10/12-bit with full sensor readout, but I’ve never tried it myself so don’t quote me on that haha

i'm confused. i have a Canon EOS M50 + EF-M 15-45mm f3.5-6.3 IS STM. That was the package i bought. I assume the lens is the standard KIT lens. Now i bought the speedbooster Viltrox Mount Adapter EF-EOS M2 0.71x but they don't match. What's wrong?

I should clarify that I'm talking about the EOS R, which is closer in quality to the 1DX than the M50 is. Realize that I didn't specify that on a video about the M50. Whoops
@@doctorpretender not really. The quality of the EOS R is more like the 6D MK II while the M50 with a Speedbooster is similar to a 5D MK III from what others say.
How is the speedbooster treating you? I've heard bad things about it such as higher battery usage and in some cases vignette on the edges but I want the bokeh and full frame look.
@@ChicaneMedia i own the M50 MK2 and the battery seems to be fine. I removed the battery first over night but the last 2 days I didn't and the battery seems to be fine and not draining. I think every owner of a asp-c camera should buy this speed booster. 👍 But to be on the safe side, I bought 2 battery's and a charger for 30€. The battery of the M50 is too small in my opinion. Edit: You will get a little bit of vignette. But nothing you can't remove in editing.

Honestly, I was surprised how much of a difference there was between the two. EOS R is some incredible hardware.

I'd take the 4k on the m50, if I'm gonna pull focus anyway.
pahwraith Well for example it does RAW video at 2.7k (with autofocus), is like half the size and a quarter of the price.
5x crop is a deal breaker tho.

No, speedbooster is for EF/Efs lenses. Still reccomend

I should clarify that I'm talking about the EOS R, which is closer in quality to the 1DX than the M50 is. Realize that I didn't specify that on a video about the M50. Whoops
@@doctorpretender not really. The quality of the EOS R is more like the 6D MK II while the M50 with a Speedbooster is similar to a 5D MK III from what others say.

Bought a Speedbooster for my M50 MK2 today. Canon 24-105 f4 is now f2.8 and my Canon 50mm 1.4 now f1 😍😍
How is the speedbooster treating you? I've heard bad things about it such as higher battery usage and in some cases vignette on the edges but I want the bokeh and full frame look.
@@ChicaneMedia i own the M50 MK2 and the battery seems to be fine. I removed the battery first over night but the last 2 days I didn't and the battery seems to be fine and not draining.
I think every owner of a asp-c camera should buy this speed booster. 👍
But to be on the safe side, I bought 2 battery's and a charger for 30€. The battery of the M50 is too small in my opinion.
Edit: You will get a little bit of vignette. But nothing you can't remove in editing.
