Get a HIGH FLOW AIR FILTER ALREADY!!!!! If you move to N. CAROLINA the lighter weight and low end TQ. on The Tail of The Dragon will be much more enjoyable!!! Turns are tight and too much power and weight is a liability. Stay safe!!!
I own a MT09 I bought it a couple of weeks ago, and after I purchased it I was wondering about the same MT10 vs MT09. Thank you for the video you put on context, what I was thinking and feeling when I bought the motorcycle. This is my first bike from this type. I jumped from a Stateline 2015 to MT09 2018 😆. I've already purchased the akrapovic exhaust carbon fiber system. Let's see what happens, I'm in love with the MT09 for real, I made a great decision.
Had the mt10 for about 3 months now absolute UNIT I personally love the transformer looks of the 1k and that Crossplane sound is a monster you get so much enjoyment just cruising shifting gears and hearing the gurgles and pops from that thing!
DemolitionEagle -Top 10 dont know what the 09 does but the MT-10, like ant liter bike, is THIRSTY. Like i can get better fuel consumption in (very economical) cars even if i tried to hypermile the 10. Youll get about 120 miles before feeling the need to refuel out of 4,5 gallon tank. My average fuel consumption is about 33,6 mpg.
@3 name changes allowed every 90 days. Positive thing is from 50 mph to 75 mph the difference is only about 43.5 - 37.9 so 5.6 mph. Cruising at 90 mph burns about 34.6 mpg. So once you get above 50 mph (when you can get into 6th gear) the fuel consumption is a tiny bit better and speed doesnt affect it too much. At 90 mph i would actually get worse fuel consumption from my FZ-07. Also the cruise control helps the economy a lot as you wont feel the need to send it as often. Its fuel consumption is absolutley horrible in 1st to 3rd gear, what you will definitely be limited to up to about 35 mph on a flat road. Also i dont see much change in the fuel consumption depending on riding style. You wont be able to push everything its got on the streets without eventually killing yourself. Guess that consumption is mostly used to crank that large engine, so its a very reliable meh fuel consumption outside of the city.
@3 name changes allowed every 90 days. The fuel consumption doesnt bother me too much with a gas price of $6.7 - $7 per gallon so i think youll be fine :)
Well having owned my MT10 for 3 1/2 years and having ridden an MT09 of a mate for about 500 miles, I think I can speak, not only for myself but probably many owners of both bikes.................you are so, so wrong and therefore your views on any other bikes are invalid. Just a note: My mate went and changed his MT09 for an MT10 after riding my MT10 and has never regretted it.
@@Miguelito0oO I prefer the Yamaha to own but the Yamaha sound is more rock in a can matalic off beat clatter. Still sounds great but the V4 Aprilia motor is just pure ear candy when it's reving hard. Splitting hairs thou. Both amazing and so much more interesting than a inline four with normal firing order. Love my MT10SP. Epic bike.
THE SOUND HAS AN AQUIRED TASTE AND HAS TO GRO ON U. HONESTLY I HATE THE SAOUND OF THE DAMN THING. I have a 2020 R1 and HATED THE SOUND until i prut a two brothers on it.
Also went for the MT09. It’s light, relatively cheap with a great lively engine. A good base to then mod and make how you want it. Here’s my additions. Turbo kit. GPR Steering damper. EBC pads. Brembo RCS master cylinder. Sergeant seat. MRA screen. Pro taper bars. Rizoma mirrors Lithium battery. ABS switch.
Yes it makes a big difference in power but most noticeably in torque where the triple makes it lower in the rpm. My goal was to have a bike lighter, smaller but with more go than my Gen 1 KTM SDR for short range rides. The acceleration on boost is hard to process especially with traffic. You need to plan what’s ahead! It’s great to have this power in reserve when you want it and it’s addictive but you can also ride around normally off boost. It is expensive but it’s a major mod that makes the bike more special and more fun. If you like to modify, you won’t regret it. Downsides is that you need to spend money on the fueling, brakes, heavier clutch springs, frequent oil changes.....
I got it from Extreme Creations in Australia. They have FB and website with all the details. Currently the boost is set at around 8 psi which is ok for the engine. More boost would require opening the engine to replace rods etc. I have been running this kit for two years and ride it to work and back as my daily. Frequent oil changes are important but only takes half hour to do so no big deal.
Honestly, after years of big bikes (Super Duke, Speed Triple, R1), the thought of a cheaper, chill bike (that's still fairly fast) seems incredibly appealing to me. Just don't ride enough these days to justify hanging onto crazy expensive liter bikes that have expensive insurance, when I could have just as much fun on an old cheap MT-09.
I rode both and got the 10. I couldn't stand the buzzy bars on the 09. The 10 just felt like a much better and more solid bike. Plus that CP4 sounds incredible and the ear to ear grin I had the entire time I was on it was enough to sell me on it. I've had my 10 for about 3 months and I love it
@@butchcassidy9125 straight highway I'm not sure. I'm getting like 100 out so miles between fill ups but it's like 60/40 city/hwy. For the new generation they dropped the rear sprocket by one tooth to give better economy. The on board MPG thing seems to do better at 80mph honestly lol. I'm averaging about 30 over almost 10k miles on my 2019 but I also don't baby it
@@willl84Are you still loving it? I have an FZ09 and am strongly considering the 10 after doing rinds of research on it. The only way I’m getting it and paying more is if it has considerably better “kick”.
@@ShatterTheSkiesAbove yep, still loving it! Over 17,200 miles now and it still makes me giggle like a little boy every time the front lifts through third lol
@3 name changes allowed every 90 days. If you've never ridden an MT09 you don't know what you're missing. Tons of torque off the line. No downshifting looking for power anywhere.
Bruh, how in the world can you say the MT10 isn’t leaps and bounds above a MT09? I don’t care that you don’t care about $, but stop lying to folks man. I own the the 10, and you said in your video that you don’t even know about the 10 suspension, so you don’t even know it has an R1 suspension. Everyone- please do some research this dude is admittedly full of BS if he doesn’t even understand the massive difference in suspension alone 😆 Source: Best friend owns the 09 and always insists on bike swapping and I hate every second I’m on it but I’m a good friend so I let him ride the better bike (10).
A bunch of us told you (CC) that the MT-series was up your ally years ago. I personally said MT- 07 or a SV650 but you went 09 and that's ok too. The point is, it's the torque and the quick zip and it don't look like a Sport bike to draw attention. It's a CC hooligan stealth machine........period.
CycleCruza the suspension on that bike is a hair above garbage, yet you installed a $2000+ exhaust system on a bike that you seem to just commute with. Seems counterintuitive.
@@AntiPlatitude Then he says he wants to replace the rear suspension another grand +. Problem is, and I do not mean to smak talk, he is not a good enough rider to know what good suspension is. 99.8% of riders do not even adjust their suspension and do perfectly fine.
@Casey R. I agree. I love the middle weight sector and I have my CMRA license. My track bike is a Datonya 675R and my road bike is a Street Triple R. I will admit that I am taxing the hell out of these bikes and will be looking at a liter bike (probably GSXR for track) and the 890 Duke is a serious contender for the street.
I'm torn on using the horn to alert drivers. They might think you're telling them to go, or if you're from AZ like me, people always honk at you to go. Them hearing a horn, might make them go, thinking someone is honking at them from behind. I just swerve in my lane to create lateral motion that will catch their eye.
Test rode the MT-09 and Street Triple R. Got the Street Triple. Really recommended you do a test ride on one of those CC! Great sounding triple. It does pull in all gears including 6th. Great finishing details. Just simply amazing to ride. Is it really just the head lights that put you off?
Yep he refuses to get one cause of a fucking headlight. That MT09 is trash compared to the ST. The MT09 is the Toyota Corolla of nakeds -- not that is a bad thing, but it is budget.
TBR 660 both a little cheap , particularly the stock suspension and can be flighty at speed . I’m heavy and probably exacerbates the issue. Great bike when upgraded
Personally I don't see much difference in the looks between an MT-09 and an MT-10. The MT-10 has cruise control, but it gets worse mileage. $4000 difference retail is the biggest reason. I actually got a 17 FZ-07 and it has great power for every day riding. Planning on adding an intake, exhaust, and tuning. I already modded the front suspension which only cost me a quart of fork oil and some time. Rear suspension is coming.
This modded mt-09 eats gas now. I filled up at the beginning of my ride and had 0.6 gal left after a 5 hour ride. You can't go wrong with any of the mt bikes. They're all great street bikes.
You didn't mention that the MT10 is also super thirsty and gets very poor mileage compared to pretty much any bike. MT09 consumes probably 2/3 of the fuel the the MT10 does.
@CycleCruza Great content as always! I will be purchasing a 2023 MT10 soon. The added weight and size of the bike (I actually like that for highway riding) PLUS the cross-plane motor (that sound!)are the two main factors that helped me decide. At the end of the day, I really love both of these bikes, just incredible machines. Oh, and the looks of the MT10 really did take me some time to get used to (looks like a transformer almost) but it is actually growing on me more and more.
CycleCruza I think you made a good decision. That CP 3 engine on the MT09 is a great engine. That is the great thing about the MT bikes, the CP 2, CP 3, and CP 4 all offer a difference experience and a unique sound. As a person that has owned a MT 09 and owns a MT 10 I prefer the MT 10 because the suspension is premium, it is more comfortable for longer rides, and the cruise control. I have several twisty roads in my area and the MT 10 is a great twisty/track bike. But the kind of riding you mostly do the MT 09 power makes it a far better hooligan bike, town bike, ect. The MT 10 does not like slow speeds/low RPMs. Dont get me wrong I ride my MT 10 around town stuff but I am hardly out of first or second gear. It has a tall 1st gear for a naked bike. While I hope some day you get to experience the MT 10 I think for how you want to ride and what you were looking for right now the MT 09 was the better pick. And if you get an MT 10 in the future dont make the mistake I did and sale the MT 09 before hand. I miss my MT 09 simply because it is a different feel from the MT 10. The only problem I had with the MT 09 was the rear shock. Other than that it was a great bike. I should have kept my MT 09, but something you already know and experienced. Not enough room in the garage. Lol Not that I need anymore bikes or another MT 10, but I seen where reports coming out of Japan is that the 2021 MT 10 is getting huge upgrades finally. Looks are pretty much the same but some fairings added around the front half of the engine. Not a lot of details as of yet as to what all has been done to the engine, but it is getting a turbo added to it. Saying 200 BHP now. If that is the case Yamaha will need to give the MT 10 basically the R1 electronics. Yamaha will need to upgrade the master cylinder as well. That is the only problem I have with the MT 10. It is not a radial MC. It is a cheap upgrade and problem solved.
Been watching you since around 2015. Actually inspired my first riding gear and everything. Thinking about getting a mt10 and of course you have a video of them. Keep it up brother.
Before you talk smack about the mt-10 just make sure you try it first. Just like you talking shit about the 09 and buying it afterwards. I’ve had the 09 and got the 10 and I’m telling you its better in every way besides the gas consumption. Just try the damn bike man before talking smack.
Had 2017 mt09, done 16000kms in 2 years. Got 2019 mt10 because it has more quite a bit more power and most importantly stability - done over 30000kms in 2 years. It sort of tells you which one I like more :D Love them both, but mt10 just makes me hard every single time I ride it.
I have looked at the MT 09 & MT 10 for a couple years now. Completely agree the modded MT 09 for the price you just can’t go wrong. Seems to be the wise choice with me as well. With that said I do like the looks of the MT 10 as well. Both are sick bikes for the money.
I want a mt 10 now, i have a 07 ZX10R. BUT i want something more comfortable. Im gonna sell my ZX and get a Mt. I want more comfort with the same power as my 10.
You probably oughta mention if you’re looking at the MT10, the insurance rates are much higher than the MT09. MT09 is relatively cheap to insure. I was going to buy an MT10 until I quoted the insurance, at least 3x the cost to insure an MT09.
I just got done motorcycle shopping. I was comparing the MT-10 to the Diavel 1260s. I fell in love with the MT 10 at first sight. My first bike is a hypercharged Yamaha Stryker 1300
@@AlexanderTheGrateful Lol. Well for me the 09 looked better than the 10. I just wanted something faster than my Drz at the time and the 09 seemed like a pretty good overall step up. Anything on the street would be a step up from the Drz on the street.
I just bought a 17 FZ10 for $8000 with 2k miles and after decatting and getting aftermarket exhaust and deleting smog systems it feels lighter then my old R6 when riding (obviously feels heavy under 20mph in traffic). Suspension is perfect after tuning for my weight and brakes are also super strong and bite hard (maybe since I am lighter than most riders at 150lbs) , way better than I am used to at least compared to all of the 600cc sportbikes, adventure bikes, and naked bikes I've had. Looks are subjective but I love how different it is compared to all the other bikes and how aggressive and mean looking it is in person, where with the MT09 I feel like the front doesnt match the side of the bike and it looks incomplete (opinion of course). FZ/MT10 is a head turner and that crossplane 4 is such a good sound. I think the biggest difference is that the FZ10 is the more do-it-all bike; it can be a sport touring/daily with saddlebags and a windscreen, hoon bike to do dank wheelies and have fun without ridiculous speeding , or weekend canyon carver/track bike if you're brave enough. The electronics (especially cruise control),suspension and power are worth it to me especially since I paid basically msrp for a mt09. I will not need another bike for many years until I start going to the track more seriously and if I had gotten the FZ/MT09 I know I would've regretted it but different strokes for different folks I guess.
I love the look of the MT09 and almost bought a 21 SP because of it, but I would never give up my MT-10. The bike slaps midrange and when I want to top end I outpace most class of moto until 160 then the R1' s and GSXR'S catch me.
I HATE those warning stickers. My former Aprilia Tuono had like 8 warning stickers and the one on the tank left a mark after I removed it. I was so pissed off.
@@CycleCruza did you try heat gun/ hair dryer. Once you heat up the sticker it's much easier to remove and if it leaves some residue clean it off with isopropyl alcohol.

Title of your video begs the bigger question of how did you digress in your purchases from the three bikes you had owned of the Honda, Diavel and Aprilla ?
@@CycleCruza I realize you are excited about your MT 09 but I would be curious about in your upcoming video what you miss about the 3 bikes I mentioned above. Seems to me the 3 previoue bikes stock were pretty close to perfect the day you bought them. If you own this MT09 over a long period of time I can tell you'll be pouring decent money not in maintenance but in upgrades. Its convincing that the MT is a high value flickable torquey bike but it doesnt have that special luxury feel and look of your Aprilla, Diavel and CBRR . The special feel and character of those bikes came across in the stories you told. Thanks
Hey CycleCruza I have a 2019 tracer 900. Very similar power train just a larger sport touring bike. I really wanna do an exhaust and ecu flash (just from you explaining the power) However an exhaust system is well over 1,000$. Any Systems for a biker on a budget? Keep up the awesome vids and stay safe!
I had mt10 also. Bought new. After 400 kms motor broke, the piston went out of motor on highway, oil went out over tire and happily stayed alive. But the bike is overall ok. Much stronger than mt09 but much heavier. I sold it instantly. Good for wheelies under BP, bad for wheelies over BP. Pulls to the right because heavy stock exhaust. Powerwheelies from 1st to 4th gear. Shorter than tuono. Great bike but it did not meet my needs. To heavy. Love smaller bikes.
I used to have a GSXR1000, I rarely cracked 9K. I didn't need it. It was stupid fast by the time it got on the pipe in the midrange. The 9 would be fine. You can borrow that line Cycle Cruza.
Cruza, I have the privilege of choosing the BMW F900r. I originally was going to get the MT09 but for the same money I got the BMW. I'm still waiting on delivery by this week and honestly cant wait!
Did your Aprilia tuano have a lot of engine noise / cam chain noise at low rpms/ idle? Macy from max wrist got a used 2016 and it makes bad engine noises below 2k rpm but a lot of people kept saying that is normal for that bike. Did it happen on yours cc??
It has more grunt/power everywhere.. The mt09 is a fun bike but its nothing special especially if one ever faces the day that they decide to sell.. Good Lord, there are what seems like hundreds of them for sale..
I'm glad i bought the MT10, my buddy has a 09 and its a dope bike for sure, especially for the price. I almost went with a mt09 until i realized it didnt have a quick shifter, cruise, traction and it makes 113 hp vs 165 hp. Its my first brand new bike so i didnt want to settle for the 09 since i plan on keeping the bike for a long long time. But yeah any MT bike is a great bike, my 10 gets about 30mpg which is cheeks but its not about the miles per gallon its about the smiles per gallon. I will say tho the normal supersports still smoke me once we get going like 80 they just keep putting distance on me
I didn't think I would like the sound of the triple that much but was surprised at how great it sounds with a full akra exhaust. MT-07 sounds great too, mt-10 as well. All three mt bikes are cool.
I love mine also! I’ve done cosmetic stuff to it and just dumped the pumpkin lights. did the same the thing....I’ve done the 600 CBR RR and Yamaha R1 (2016) but I’ve found my self enjoying the MT-09. Now I’m just working on riding skills and low speed maneuvers.
Just wait till you see the new MT10 gen2 they are releasing in 2022!! Hopefully there will be no delays on production due to the corona epidemic as they are still very early in the design phase. This information comes from a very credible source! You heard it here first!
What’s up @CycleCruza are you going to make a video on the AIS topic and have you done the engine block off? Also are you getting a lot of the popping sound with out the block off? Reason I ask is because I never rode my bike without the block off after installing the Akrapovic exhaust so I’m not sure if it made a big difference?
He started commenting on why I’m so happy with my MT-10 hahaha. As he ride and spoke about the MT-09 and went down his list I was falling more for my bike 😊. Good video to confirm why MT-10 rules if you have the experience tho
I love the MT10 but the milage sucks. You will have to fill up every 120 miles. YAMAHA but a smaller fuel tank on the MT10 VS the R1. About 1.5 gallons smaller.
I want a Tuono V4 myself but like you I do not trust the reliability. So I am looking at the MT-10SP. But also like you I do not like the headlights. So I am waiting to see what the 25's look like if they change the MT10.
Got the same bike with same full exhaust and i love it, however i haven’t flashed it. Is it necessary? I mean the bike is great without it in my opinion. Did you have a chance to compare it before and after with the new exhaust on?
I looked at both MT09 and MT10 but went with the MT10 because it's based on better technology all around from the R1. The MT10 suspension is world class and fully adjustible. The MT09 suspension belongs in the trash. Then for what you've paid for Ohlins (or whatever) to fix the MT09, you could have just bought the MT10
The MT-09 throttle is way better now with the flash. I did not get the z900 because I wanted to try to triple engine for change. I've already owned a few inline 4 bikes. The Z900 is a great bike though.
@@CycleCruza I bought a 2017 FZ-09 new and i love it. Nothing sounds like its cross plane triple motor. I'm not even talking about the exhaust, the motor itself sounds great. My puts out a train whistle sound in 6th gear wide open...must be something to do with the air box....
I would like to get the 09... but im just gonna upgrade to the 07... being a beginner rider only riding for 9 months getting rid of my cbr 250r. definitely time for a upgrade....
@@CycleCruza IKR, Yamaha must have their reasons I guess... I have heard the SP package make a ton of difference though. Maybe something to consider for future project... Re-sale of a full MT-09 SP in the US market would be very much sought after. So worth doing bike would only increase in value 👌
We have it in Europe but too bad it's available only in one color and it looks ugly to me. If they'd make the SP version in full black (with gold forks) I might consider buying it, but the ugly color is a turn off
TzeiEm Exactly, we have the same situation here in Australia. Both the MT-09 and MT-10 are available in SP form, but you are stuck with the ugly blue/silver colour scheme. I think I’ll get a black 09 when the time comes and then upgrade the suspension, slap on an Akra, and get a flash.
MT-09 all day!!!! More versatility. Like the way the 10 looks though. Looking mean as hell! But love throwing the MT-09 around and feels more comfortable weaving through traffic.

You still rocking the stock seat??
Needs to put them mirrors sticking up , instead of wrongly down .
6 months from now “Why I got the MT-10”
Lol
Watching this 6 months later and cc wants to sell his mt-09 lmao.
@@likkitongue hahahaha called it. I just traded my fz09 for a fz10 myself like a month ago 😂😭
🥇 Gold
@@likkitongue yeah and he is thinking on a cruiser so
Had the mt10 for about 3 months now absolute UNIT I personally love the transformer looks of the 1k and that Crossplane sound is a monster you get so much enjoyment just cruising shifting gears and hearing the gurgles and pops from that thing!
how is the fuel consumption compare to mt09
DemolitionEagle -Top 10 dont know what the 09 does but the MT-10, like ant liter bike, is THIRSTY. Like i can get better fuel consumption in (very economical) cars even if i tried to hypermile the 10.
Youll get about 120 miles before feeling the need to refuel out of 4,5 gallon tank.
My average fuel consumption is about 33,6 mpg.
She's a bit of a gas hog. I literally try to crawl my way to 5th gear 😂🤣
The fuel consumption doesnt bother me too much with a gas price of $6.7 - $7 per gallon so i think youll be fine :)
i love the " transformer like headlight " on the MT-10
Same if only the fz-07 had came with it
I agree. I was motorcycle shopping today and I checked out the MT 10. Love at first sight.
Maybe yeah, but 10 is an *Autobot.* I guess CC probably wanted a *Descepticon!* (Thx "M.P.70"!)
I do too, and the sound, and the available Ohlins setup.
I like the MT10 but that UGLY ASS BANANA SEAT HAS TO GO
I love my MT-10..Who cares as long as we are riding! Stay safe on them filthy streets!!
Don’t take advice from a man in neon camo pants 🤣
or who brags about how much money they spend on bikes . . . .
In my opinion the MT10 looks a million times better, the MT09 looks incomplete
Well put / spoken 🙇
Let's be real, any Japanese bike you buy is going to be a grin ear to ear
Just for the sound the MT-10 is to die for!! Best sounding bike! It’s fire baby🔥🔥🔥
Second best sounding bike. Aprilias V4 sounds better. I had one but now own a MT10SP.
@@twowheelpilot I prefer the Yamaha sound
@@On2sMC hate? Each to their own mate. cross plane CP4 motors rock. Character is spades.
Also went for the MT09. It’s light, relatively cheap with a great lively engine. A good base to then mod and make how you want it. Here’s my additions.
Turbo kit.
GPR Steering damper.
EBC pads.
Brembo RCS master cylinder.
Sergeant seat.
MRA screen.
Pro taper bars.
Rizoma mirrors
Lithium battery.
ABS switch.
Nice! Did the turbo kit make a big difference for you? That's a super expensive mod to do.
Where do you get a turbo kit also does it effect the reliability of this engine
I got it from Extreme Creations in Australia. They have FB and website with all the details.
Currently the boost is set at around 8 psi which is ok for the engine. More boost would require opening the engine to replace rods etc. I have been running this kit for two years and ride it to work and back as my daily. Frequent oil changes are important but only takes half hour to do so no big deal.
Ur rich!
As an Englishman I really enjoy his accent: “emmm tee teyyyynnn”
As another Englishman, he is still wrong in saying the MT09 is better than the MT10, because it just isn't.
I rode both and got the 10. I couldn't stand the buzzy bars on the 09. The 10 just felt like a much better and more solid bike. Plus that CP4 sounds incredible and the ear to ear grin I had the entire time I was on it was enough to sell me on it. I've had my 10 for about 3 months and I love it
Hi Will. I am looking at an MT-10 and am wondering how far you can go on the highway on a tank of gas ?
@@butchcassidy9125 straight highway I'm not sure. I'm getting like 100 out so miles between fill ups but it's like 60/40 city/hwy. For the new generation they dropped the rear sprocket by one tooth to give better economy. The on board MPG thing seems to do better at 80mph honestly lol. I'm averaging about 30 over almost 10k miles on my 2019 but I also don't baby it
I just rode both of them, 2023 SP versions, and the 10 was the one vibrating in the handlebars.
I think when he gets tired of the MT 09 he will go to the MT 10 for that little bit of more power 😬
@3 name changes allowed every 90 days.
If you've never ridden an MT09 you don't know what you're missing. Tons of torque off the line. No downshifting looking for power anywhere.
Power u can’t even use and will get ur license revoked
@@SamIAm-kz4hg So you haven't ridden an MT10 then?
@@RichardASK
"So you haven't ridden an MT10 then?"
That's just such a moronic attempt at trying to start something.
Everyone- please do some research this dude is admittedly full of BS if he doesn’t even understand the massive difference in suspension alone 😆
Source: Best friend owns the 09 and always insists on bike swapping and I hate every second I’m on it but I’m a good friend so I let him ride the better bike (10).
Still looking foward to the day you share your ride on a MT10 with us.
First you talked crap about mt09 over mt07. Now mt10. 😂
The topic of the next video might be “why I dissed mt-10 and bought it”😏😹
He made a vid a few months back saying why he won’t ever buy the mt-9 and mt-10 but here we are
It was cheap till you started throwing money at it.
Really, these days, you have to do the mods I did on ALL new bikes. All stock bikes are corked up with restrictions these days.
CycleCruza the suspension on that bike is a hair above garbage, yet you installed a $2000+ exhaust system on a bike that you seem to just commute with. Seems counterintuitive.
But wouldn't spend money to unlock the Tuono's true potential 😂🤣 unbelievable
I’ve been seeing more and more people going with the mt10, I sold my 09 looking into getting a 10!
I bought a 10 3 months ago and LOVE it
I'm torn on using the horn to alert drivers. They might think you're telling them to go, or if you're from AZ like me, people always honk at you to go. Them hearing a horn, might make them go, thinking someone is honking at them from behind. I just swerve in my lane to create lateral motion that will catch their eye.
I’m in AZ too. I usually just roll off the throttle a bit, wiggle the head light and keep an eye on them.
Test rode the MT-09 and Street Triple R. Got the Street Triple. Really recommended you do a test ride on one of those CC!
Great sounding triple. It does pull in all gears including 6th. Great finishing details. Just simply amazing to ride. Is it really just the head lights that put you off?
That’s the bike I’d have wanted to compare to this as well, and probably would have pulled the trigger on!
Yep he refuses to get one cause of a fucking headlight. That MT09 is trash compared to the ST. The MT09 is the Toyota Corolla of nakeds -- not that is a bad thing, but it is budget.
@@Lex-Rex bike snobbery lol. Sounds like a bmw driver 😂
Have you done a test ride on the MT10 yet? It would be good to see you compare the differences
I have an Mt09 tracer and the suspension and brakes are borderline dangerous imo
Why? Are they that bad?
TBR 660 both a little cheap , particularly the stock suspension and can be flighty at speed . I’m heavy and probably exacerbates the issue. Great bike when upgraded
I have runt the both bikes and it is like night and day, if you ride the SP you can never go back...
Glad you got the MT09
You didn't mention that the MT10 is also super thirsty and gets very poor mileage compared to pretty much any bike. MT09 consumes probably 2/3 of the fuel the the MT10 does.
Started with the fz07 in 2015, got the mt09 this year. Perfect learning curve love it!!🤘🤘
@CycleCruza Great content as always!
CycleCruza
I think you made a good decision.
When are we going to see Some Slide Action?
Rider: Gives motorcycle about 1/4 throttle.
MT-10: Ah, so you have chosen death...….
Pffft it ain't that fast
Master Keyz ever ridden one?
Every motorcycle is fast when you crash- just saying:)
@@Adrenalean767 mine pulls 3rd gear power wheelies over 100mph, pretty fast IMO!
What about the 2021 MT-09? Do you still have to flash the ECU, or did they make it better stock?
Had 2017 mt09, done 16000kms in 2 years. Got 2019 mt10 because it has more quite a bit more power and most importantly stability - done over 30000kms in 2 years. It sort of tells you which one I like more :D Love them both, but mt10 just makes me hard every single time I ride it.
Only thing that stopped me from getting the MT-10 over the MT-09 was the incredibly shitty gas mileage (30mpg)
If you had to choose, would you get a stainless, carbon fiber, or titanium muffler? The exhaust on all of them is stainless I believe.
CC the looks were the main reason I chose the MT09 over the 10. I'm glad you are enjoying the bike man!
Patrick 4777 lol they are both ugly, looks was the last thing on my mind when buying an MT
@@AlexanderTheGrateful Lol. Well for me the 09 looked better than the 10. I just wanted something faster than my Drz at the time and the 09 seemed like a pretty good overall step up. Anything on the street would be a step up from the Drz on the street.
Patrick 4777 enjoy your bike mate it’s an awesome machine
@@AlexanderTheGrateful thanks buddy, same to you!
I love my MT10 However I did really love riding the 9 I loved how much lighter it felt. Overall both are great in their own right.
Yeah both bikes are great bikes.
What's the fuel like on the mt10
Coming from a 600 Bandit the MT09SP will be a dream! Cant wait for it!
Why spend more money to tune your mt 09 ? For more power? When you can use the extra cash for the mt 10 ?. I would upgrade the lights on the mt 10.
Why no love for the Tracer 900?
I’d like one
In line 3’s ARE NATURALLY CROSS PLANE ENGINES WITH CRANK PINS EVERY 120 degrees in 3 separate planes

All cars and newer motorcycles have OBD Canbus systems. They have limp modes to get you home vs stuck on the road.
I love the look of the MT09 and almost bought a 21 SP because of it, but I would never give up my MT-10. The bike slaps midrange and when I want to top end I outpace most class of moto until 160 then the R1' s and GSXR'S catch me.

Thanks

Unfortunately no, you gotta pay to play
I had mt10 also. Bought new. After 400 kms motor broke, the piston went out of motor on highway, oil went out over tire and happily stayed alive. But the bike is overall ok. Much stronger than mt09 but much heavier. I sold it instantly. Good for wheelies under BP, bad for wheelies over BP. Pulls to the right because heavy stock exhaust. Powerwheelies from 1st to 4th gear. Shorter than tuono. Great bike but it did not meet my needs. To heavy. Love smaller bikes.
Coming from Harleys is it going to be a huge difference going to the MT series bikes? Yeah I’ve got 100+ foot lbs in my 114 but it’s 625lbs in weight
Cycle cruzaaaaa, the mt10 has more grunt off the line than the 09.
It has more grunt/power everywhere.. The mt09 is a fun bike but its nothing special especially if one ever faces the day that they decide to sell.. Good Lord, there are what seems like hundreds of them for sale..
Not really 0-60
And so it should have. There's no substitute for cc's
How much were all the mods you put into the MT-09??? How much did it cost $$$
I will say tho the normal supersports still smoke me once we get going like 80 they just keep putting distance on me
Yea theres nothing yu can do there.. aerodynamics
@CycleCruza did you try to play with sprockets? I upgraded my Triumph from 16T in the front to 15T and it is insane joy.
Did you test ride the MT-10?
All my friends ride MTs. They’re great bikes! I like the sound of the two cylinder 07 the most though.
I didn't think I would like the sound of the triple that much but was surprised at how great it sounds with a full akra exhaust. MT-07 sounds great too, mt-10 as well. All three mt bikes are cool.
Its this for commute as you said can be modified for long rides?
I love mine also! I’ve done cosmetic stuff to it and just dumped the pumpkin lights. did the same the thing....I’ve done the 600 CBR RR and Yamaha R1 (2016) but I’ve found my self enjoying the MT-09. Now I’m just working on riding skills and low speed maneuvers.
Just wait till you see the new MT10 gen2 they are releasing in 2022!!
Hopefully there will be no delays on production due to the corona epidemic as they are still very early in the design phase.
This information comes from a very credible source! You heard it here first!
Johnny 5 is my guy! I really think both bikes look the same. I'm 99% sold on an XSR700 or MT07. Love the sound.
disappointed you didnt consider the Street Triple
I’m gonna listen to you and buy my first Yamaha FZ09 :) I’ve has two Buells & one Speed triple 1050. Thank you for your opinion
Make the bike shine a bit more and Put a quick shifter and a steering damper .
Can’t you change the robot lights with some after market on the MT-10?
Think Numbers is it really that bad? Lol
You know you can’t see the headlights while riding? Thanks goodness
What about the snatchy throttle you are experiencing when you first got the bike curious did the flash fix it
I explained the throttle change in my 'modded mt-09 review' video towards the end of this video: ruclips.net/video/7QjKVpDa0YE/видео.html
MT09 is cool but if you want the best experience you need to get the MT09SP way better than the standard mt09
I looked at both MT09 and MT10 but went with the MT10 because it's based on better technology all around from the R1. The MT10 suspension is world class and fully adjustible. The MT09 suspension belongs in the trash. Then for what you've paid for Ohlins (or whatever) to fix the MT09, you could have just bought the MT10
mt-O9 has long stroke engine, less engine oil, low rpm max torqe, longer trevel suspension, and less weight compare to mt-10.
Damn after test riding a z900, wish you got that instead. Throttle is buttery smooth stock. Your bike tho and mt-09 is still sweet.
🔥🔥Why no SP package for US... Its so dumb🔥🔥
Makes no sense to me either. Euro not only has the mt-09 sp but has a mt-10 sp.
I too thought the mt10 would have been best for you but who the hell am i to tell you wat you should get
cycle Cruz my brotha, whats your cell phone mount ? and Go pro mount ? please send/ list the link . All love
MT-09 all day!!!! More versatility. Like the way the 10 looks though. Looking mean as hell! But love throwing the MT-09 around and feels more comfortable weaving through traffic.
Sorry but the V4R is not a naked bike. That front faring is huge..
