Odometer tampering involved I'm placing a bet that the odometer has been rolled back or replaced with a junk yard unit. This screams odometer fraud.
A scanner would probably reveal the true mileage stored in the ECM.
@@21PiloteerNot if it’s changed in there too. 😂😂
It doesn't. Stored on the odometer itself in these trucks (I own a high end snap on scanner and I've gone down this road before).@@21Piloteer
Totally agree
There’s no way that rig only has 26k miles absolutely impossible
Public shaming is the only way to stop crooks from pulling this stuff.
Where do you find scam artists that can actually be "shamed"? The ones I've seen would sell a used imitation wood casket to their mother, then repo the casket the day after the funeral.
ONLY if you show their name, address, phone number and their mother's pohone number
They won't because they are creating the drama. The whole story is untrue
There's deals to be had, yet he doesn't say the price
Former GM painter here. The peeling will make you chase your tail. You can't "repair" it. GM over baked the sealer. It rolls off like ribbons using a razorblade scraper. Then sand down, prime, wet sand and paint. $3500 job MINIMUM.
Sorry to hear this, Tyler, but the whole "don't have pics 'cause it's perfect" would be a *major* red flag for me. I hope your dealer pal has a serious chat with the seller of this thing.
it's a red flag for most knowledgeable people in the car industry. My guess is this was expected from the purchase and used for content
The odometer on that truck is 1000000% rolled back. The wear is indicitave of 180k+ miles on that. Ive detailed easily 50 of these and more than half had high miles and were in this exact condition.
I concur, after I saw the inside there is no way that unit has 26,000 on it.

Right!
But I imagine he got SOME pictures of the thing. He didn't disclose the price paid so maybe that's red flag #2

I'm from the UK, my brother purchased a 2006 Honda Jazz from a garage for my elderly mother, i have more knowledge of cars than him,. The car wasn't viewed/seen or test droved! It was a rust bucket! I'm form south of England & the car came up way north, the trunk/boot leaked badlly, all 4 tyres v.bad, no washer fluid, coolant low,oil filter looked like 3 yrs old! Front wiper squeaked badly, rear wiper was pulled off, the gearbox CVT juddered when pulling off. Had FSH (Full Service History) but the oil filter was real rusty! Silicone on the oil drain plug. It even had the bar code sticker you get from a car auction! They didn't even take it off the car lol Had nothing but issues, i just left my brother to sort it out as he didn't even let me know, total unsafe car for my mother. The garage already got a bad name!
Had a friend who was a service writer when these were new. Customers universally complained about how the back window would leak. When GM was asked about the repair, they'd point out that the owner's manual mentioned the possibility of leaking, and there was no fix available.
I would have been 15 when the avalanche came out. And even then I distinctly remember “that’s going to leak for sure”.
See this is how incorrect information gets spread.
Yes the manual mentions it might leak if IMPROPERLY CLOSED! the issue is that you need to really be inside the truck and use both hands to close the gate correctly and how many people you think actually do that?
Of course Chevy didn't have a fix, everybody knows you can't fix stupid! However if they did that, who then would buy their vehicles?(BaDumTss)
They were junk when new, now they're old junk.
also one of the ONLY normal pickup trucks you can lay down 4x8 sheets of plywood and carry 12ft long 2x4's WITH the tailgate up and locked in the trucked! i LOVE it

No way is 26k miles genuine. And cars that look like that usually hide a raft of other issues.
From personal experience the oil never gets changed and that's the engine knackered.
This car is a steaming pile of crap.
@@jochenstacker7448we don't see a lot to determine if it is or isn't, 26k miles doesn't make a lick of difference or change it being 20+ years old! 26k miles means it probably wasn't often washed, the leather wasn't even getting oil from being sat on and sitting outside in California is going to mess stuff up!
Scratches, crashes and shit work are no indication of how many miles a vehicle has.
The issue is the dude said it was perfect.... Miles don't matter.
HOWEVER I could see the front bumper hit, scratches on the hood and wheel well being transport as well as the broken switch on the seat and missing door trim depending on how budget they went on the shipping! Obviously the clear coat on the roof and driver doors are old and I doubt even the cheapest transportation company will do ALL of that, I mean they would have to literally try at that point!
Why is the engine knackered if the oil isn't changed?
You must remember this is YT, the place where nothing can be verified. It's all just content and clickbait. Who's to say if he actually bought this vehicle?
As a person who is doing a ground-up restoration of a GMT800 Avalanche, be advised that the tonneau covers tend to collect water in them over time when the vehicle is left outside. The absorbent foam in them will then corrode the tonneau handles, resulting in the panels not sitting flush with the rails and allowing water to intrude into the bed and rusting the spot welds once the water seeps below the bed mat. As long has the cover handle brackets aren’t corroded and the spot welds under the mat aren’t bubbling, you should be okay.
I love the EXT's. These and the Avalanches I always loved the look of.
I got scammed on my E60, bought it in “perfect” condition. Had to replace the steering angle sensor, suspension arms, fuel pump, and maf sensor. The guy had blanked the lights by putting black tape in the dashboard lights and the shop we checked it at was his friend and didn’t disclose most issues

Is there any way to tell if the odometer was rolled back? That driver seat has way more than 26k of usage. Unless the owner just sat in it everyday without driving
You might be able to pull the mileage off the ECU
I bought a low mileage Audi from a police auction. The seat was very worn because it was owned by a fat drug dealer who spent most of his time sitting in it.
There actually are many ways to tell. You can check carbon buildup in the intake system. Check sparkplugs. That's the easiest. Check wear inside on the steering wheel. Those items will always wear unless they've been replaced.
I think the obd2 tells hours as well as miles. Probably didn’t roll the hours back so the math would show more info. If the engine had been on for 16296 hour even at 2 mph it would have lots of miles per hour..

One downfall with those GMT800 is the mileage is stored in the cluster and nowhere else. You can simply plug and play a lower mile cluster or change it with a bench test unit to set it to whatever you want to be. But still a good buy I'd say! I had an 03 Avalanche and I used that fold down midgate all the time to haul stuff. One of the cool accessories you could buy for it was a custom molded cover that would go over the back of the front seats to protect them and even protect part of the rear door panels from being scratched by the cargo you were shoving into the back of the truck. I think I might even still have it on a shelf in the garage. With 3 boys at the time it was the most versatile vehicle I have ever owned.

Finding it really hard to believe Hoovie got scammed on a car deal; probably hundreds of car transactions!
I love the full width mid-gate on the Escalade/Avalanche. I have a Baja and our door is only like 65% of the width so it has limited usefulness.
I would be shocked if this wasnt rolled at least back once, or maybe even twice. Definitely atypical wear for 26k miles.
The seat is a dead giveaway. Thats not 26k miles of usage. I can accept the paint condition from the sun for 20 years but there’s no way the seat would look that bad
But the tires are old enough to be seriously weather cracked, so it could have just been used for a ton of short distance trips.

Most people are terrible at assessing the condition of paint. Enthusiasts will tell you their car looks incredible and then you see it in person and it is swirled to absolute hell. That truck is a completely different story, though. Those are very obvious flaws that anyone should disclose.

I'm not going to buy anymore vehicles sight-unseen. I've been mildly burned twice now on BaT, buying low mileage cars. The first one smelled like an ashtray when it arrived. Naturally, the ashtray was missing because the dealer just threw it out because it smelled so bad. The second purchase was just dirty and smelly inside and I spent $250 for an interior extraction, plus lots of little flaws that should have been disclosed. BaT should do better policing of sellers, considering its upper-end retail auction prices.

Issue with most cars is 6th gear is just a second overdrive! Considering that's the main reason for it was to meet EPA regulations. That is really a beautiful truck. Too bad it’s so rough. Hopefully you find one that suits you better!
GTV’s with the V6 are actually really rare here too (uk) because everyone bought the cheaper 4 cylinder or (this is difficult to say) the diesel!🤢
I'm kind of surprised a dealer doesn't have a deal worked out with various inspection services, for non-local purchases.
Depends on the dealer. I do believe however there are companies that have people all over the country that can look, test drive (if wanted) and take pictures for you. I think they have an entire check list they look at and guarantee an accurate report. (Or they fix it or buy it back I don't know🤷)
