Well, penitentiaries have had sink / toilet combos for decades. The main difference is that porcelain is too fragile so the prison versions are made out of stainless steel with the flush actuator and the water dispenser button recessed into the wall above it. These are mainly used in one and two man cells. They really save on plumbing costs and set up.
The "The MEDi robot" is actually named NAO and selled by the company Aldebaran robotics. The "Tai Chi" move is an build-in demo provided with the robot.
I was recently stationed in Japan. The sink being built into the reservoir of the toilets was pretty common there. They have many innovations that i see and think "wow how in the world has this not made it to america?". Another one of my favorites: having a push button at your table in a restaurant to page a water instead of them constantly having to check on you. Makes things less frustrating for everyone.
well, when its something like this, it can easily be combined with an IR sensor to see if the face is giving off the heat it should AND it was said in the video a PIN will be also needed
Not to mention since you have to press ok anyway skip out on an expensive camera and get fingerprint scanners, just as fast, completely unique to you, works with twins
no, the water run off from washing your hands is used as the flushing water for the urinal. so you do your business. and then wash your hands. and while you're washing your hands, the water going down the drain flushes the urinal.
I have seen some of this technology myself. I have seen the medi robot before in a technology convention. I have seen the finger swiping table at Bletchley park, national museum of computing and had a chance to use it.
I would rather combine that transaction idea with the finger print recognizing touch screen. All you have to do is press "Ok", it will scan your fingerprint at the same time and finish the transaction.
Facial recognition still behaves pretty random from time to time. I got a option to unlock my tablet with my mug, but wouldn't count on it - can't risk that i wouldn't be able to unlock the thing for example when i'm in a bad mood and my face shows it. I doubt that people will 100% trust the face recognition software to really use it without any further lock in place. And where there's a pin, the time saved isn't really saved, so you can use your card in the first place.
Rentinal scan, and 3d scan needed so a picture cant be used. Also it would need to be updated every few years or after a surgery plus a fingerprint scan could help increase accuracy plus redundancy.
the Soother Bot For Kids Getting Vaccines is actually called a Nao, the robot itself is programmable if you buy it and it is available, if you can pay, to everyone.
When I was with my host family, there is a small room dedicated to just the toilet. And when you flush, there is a sink behind it that you wash your hands with and also refills the back of the toilet.
I heard something about scanning the blood vessel structure inside of your hand. If your hand checks out you can access your bank account. It may also check if it is a living hand, by checking for a pulse.
The thing about mobile banking of any sort, is if someone steals your phone, they have access to your life. And there's always a way around security if someone wants it bad enough.
There's probably systems that don't allow that to work. It's such an easy loop hole that if it was possible, the program would never had made it to the testing phase.
If someone combined the various humanoid robots and robot limbs you've shown on this channel, that would be a very skilled robot. The face recognition and fingerprint sensing things in this episode are alarming - they're too much like the situations in sci-fi movies that result in getting people's eyes and fingers removed by enterprising criminals.
i live in Helsinki but i haven't seen even one. i think he meant that it's going to be used first in Helsinki. but not yet. and i want to try it out too!
3:49 I have a very subtle fear of balloons popping. It's not extreme, it's just that watching a balloon fill up to extreme levels makes me cringe in preparation for the pop. If it takes forever to pop, it works up my tension, and that shit made me flinch.
I allways thought that we finnish people never do anything new (well expect nokia) but now I know we do a lot of scientific and electronic stuff, like the face buying thing. Well it's allways good to learn something new about your homecountry ! Greetings from finland!
i like the idea of the face recignition but a fingerprint scanner would be better. with the face scanner you can just use a picture but with a fingerprint scanner you need the guys thumb.
The picture payment is just based on a short-sighted fascination with biometrics; people just think "wouldn't it be convenient and cool to use your unique body features for authentication", and they don't account for how insecure it really is because you can't update your body like you could update a password if it got compromised.
A urinal with a sink isn't new. In Korea there are toilets that when you flush a sink on top flows water which will then be reused to flush the toilet.
Not really, by the time that payment method is commercially available the technology will be good enough to distinguish between a 2D picture and the 3D realism that comes with an actual persons face. All you would need is a scanner of some sort, we already have those.
I'm also opposed to the idea that there would be a national database with all your information stored for purchasing purposes. If someone were to steal that information, you would be screwed beyond the twelfth dimension.
To everyone who saw the "facial identification" thing and thought "no way is my face going in a database!" a brief reality check is in order: YOU'RE ON RUclips! If you can comment, you gave a profile. If you have a profile, "they" have access to your video searching habits. Incidentally, amazing vid!!! Please keep it up!
Not necessarily, with the face unlock on Android phones it has a depth sensor, so you can't use a picture of the person. I can't picture this being too much different
I saw a Robot that looked the same as the soothing one that my teacher brought into class and her son programmed it or something. It also did a dance like that too O.O
at the end with ferrofluid drops if you can make it fast enough and hard enough it could be used as bullets, i mean you shoot one bullet and it turns into 10 bullets amazing battles it would turn out to be
usually the credit card # and info are WAY harder to get than a photo.. a stranger could get a photo of you, but no one really knows your card # unless you show them
It's using the same thing as finger printing... you can't take a pic of your finger and use that can you? no! so all they need to do is increase the range in which the cam or scanner captures your face.
2:59 that robot was brought to our school before its cool😂
I wonder if it would give discounts for how fabulous your face looks. if it works like that I would have infinite money
Thats not how a 'discount' works. Last time I checked, discounts didn't give you money.
animotionification uh have u ever seen extreme couponing? their couponing skills is so hardcore that at the end they usually own them back money.
lol
Then pewdiepie would have 100% discount because hes so FAAABULOUUUUSSSSS!
***** so true
0:44 OMG HELSINKI!!! suomi mainittu, torilla tavataan!!
PERKELE TORILLA TAVATAAANN!!!
I can't get enough of the beginnings of Mind Blow.
What if someone used a photo of you to get in to your money.
Or better yet, a photo of a celebrity to access their bank account.
Slimypunch wow didn't think about that one.
Well the face and picture of the face is different because the software will also look inside your body
Adrian Re Damn that's deep bruh
He said you need a pin
I WANT THAT KID ROBOT THING
Y wouldnt u
I would like a robot that could talk to me and play video games with me.
I'd want that little dude from the video game in Her.
Great people are becoming lazy not you but other people
the robots are takin over the world notice they can do backflips now!!!!!
WE NEED MORE TINY BACK BRACES!
I'll only be worried when they can do barrel rolls.
Jon Fussell They probably can!
SWEET! Now they can put a face to all of that info they've gathered!
I want to pay with a sample of blood next please.
The thingie separating at the end was so perfectly timed with the music
We had that children robot come to our school 😂 and we just had it there because it was the end of the year
japan invents everything 0-0
Suomi mainittu, torilla tavataan.
:( itkun paikka

Plant Pregnancy Project (0:00) Urinal Sink - Tandem (0:09) Tsunami Forests (1:18) Solar Panel Volvo (2:05) Concrete Recycling Robot - ERO (3:11)
And eventually, we got Face ID.
The "The MEDi robot" is actually named NAO and selled by the company Aldebaran robotics. The "Tai Chi" move is an build-in demo provided with the robot.

Wow, the last last thing was from Finland!
Not to mention since you have to press ok anyway skip out on an expensive camera and get fingerprint scanners, just as fast, completely unique to you, works with twins
i guess this guy has never seen the picnic table suitcase, which just folded out and seated four kids. it was pretty awesome
I love how this series shows you how far we actually are in technology.
My mind was just blown. I've been subbed to this channel almost from the start and I have always thought this was called Mind Blown, not Mind Blow
no, the water run off from washing your hands is used as the flushing water for the urinal. so you do your business. and then wash your hands. and while you're washing your hands, the water going down the drain flushes the urinal.
I have seen some of this technology myself. I have seen the medi robot before in a technology convention. I have seen the finger swiping table at Bletchley park, national museum of computing and had a chance to use it.
I always love the song at the end, combined with a fascinating thing to see! :)
I would rather combine that transaction idea with the finger print recognizing touch screen. All you have to do is press "Ok", it will scan your fingerprint at the same time and finish the transaction.
I have to say that my mind is unfortunately un-blown. Not one of your guys' best compilations, though i appreciate your work regardless. :)
what if you sneeze while buying stuff?
That sink urinal has already been done. In Japan they have toilets that have sinks that are just as good as a regular sink.
. . . . Soooo . . . . I'm assuming they're not gonna using the face-recognition thing in China/Japan . . . .
Facial recognition still behaves pretty random from time to time. I got a option to unlock my tablet with my mug, but wouldn't count on it - can't risk that i wouldn't be able to unlock the thing for example when i'm in a bad mood and my face shows it. wow that tree/tsunami idea is a realy good idea i bet it would look good to
The plugin hybrid is bad enough. Don't make it worse by adding wings.
That pop of the robotic frog really freaked me out. And I think this is likely one of those things that I'm alone in.
yo they predicted face id
I always watch to the end for the cool videos, and the super short weird ones.
That robot for soothing kid's already existed, It's a robot that dances and follows you around. I guess they just re-programmed it
There's probably systems that don't allow that to work. It's such an easy loop hole that if it was possible, the program would never had made it to the testing phase.
The soothing robot for kids is so cute!
I live 200 km away from helsinki!!! i just want to try it
i live in Helsinki but i haven't seen even one. i think he meant that it's going to be used first in Helsinki. but not yet. and i want to try it out too!
The tsunami shield tree thing is amazing .u.
Mann.... VsauceNEVER gets old
Holy shit, so much Finland in one episode! (The "face payment thing" and the ferro fluid splitting) Suomi perkele!
As i watch these videos i realize we are getting so far with technology its amazing
3:49 I have a very subtle fear of balloons popping. It's not extreme, it's just that watching a balloon fill up to extreme levels makes me cringe in preparation for the pop. If it takes forever to pop, it works up my tension, and that shit made me flinch.
Moving liquid metal, human-like robot hands, and advanced human detection/identification. Skynet approaches!
I allways thought that we finnish people never do anything new (well expect nokia) but now I know we do a lot of scientific and electronic stuff, like the face buying thing. Well it's allways good to learn something new about your homecountry ! Greetings from finland!

how many times will that face recognition thing think you're someone else and by just clicking ok, a lot of people will be getting stuff for free
A urinal with a sink isn't new. In Korea there are toilets that when you flush a sink on top flows water which will then be reused to flush the toilet.

1:00 those bionic hands have been out for a while...at least 5 years. That's how long I've been making them for at least.
i like how that sink combined with a urinal type of things been done by japan since who knows when
The ferrofluid at the end is a perfect example of how only God can create a world with such perfect uniformity.
The robot hand fliped us at 1:18 lol
The robot hand fliped us at 0:18 lol
I would totally buy that table suit case thing.
Poor frog being decieved when all she wanted was some action.
I'm also opposed to the idea that there would be a national database with all your information stored for purchasing purposes. If someone were to steal that information, you would be screwed beyond the twelfth dimension.
1:42 gotta love how unresponsive that air phone is.
That gymnast robot at the end, too cute.
when the Tungara Frog blew up Omg that was Mind Blow if any;) Nice Job Kevin dont tell Michael but yours is the best Vsauce;)
Mann.... Basics NEVER gets old
The hand is amazing! Prosthetics will be so much better!
Purely a source to get your mind blown.
Not necessarily, with the face unlock on Android phones it has a depth sensor, so you can't use a picture of the person. I can't picture this being too much different
man you sure do love your robots
The music is actually given near the bottom of the description.
I saw a Robot that looked the same as the soothing one that my teacher brought into class and her son programmed it or something. It also did a dance like that too O.O
There was a bit about a program that sees your face and lets you pay online. identical twins have to enter an aditional pin.
I'm sure the software designers considered that possibility long before they dedicated thousands of hours to the project and found a solution.
i just subscribed to vsauce. so yeah, here goes my weekend
It seems to be less and less mindblowing things. At least these uploads. I guess the world is going doll.
Maybe there is a way, to block digitable pictures or things shown off digitable objects would be ignored.
in japan they have had sinks integrated into the toilet for years, its quite common there
Good point. But maybe that could be prevented by having the ATM scan for a 3 dimensional image?
at the end with ferrofluid drops if you can make it fast enough and hard enough it could be used as bullets, i mean you shoot one bullet and it turns into 10 bullets amazing battles it would turn out to be
What if it detect 3D environments? The system can detect that is a picture for being a flat surface and not having depth.
usually the credit card # and info are WAY harder to get than a photo.. a stranger could get a photo of you, but no one really knows your card # unless you show them
pay with your face... Its like Christmas for con artist.
2:58 im not sure that i would want my future kids taking advice from a robot :S
That sink urinal is just a free opportunity to piss in the sink.
Awesome as always Vsauce2!!!
Keep up the suburb work!!
Finally Finland is famous enough for it to be mentioned twice during the episode!
It's using the same thing as finger printing... you can't take a pic of your finger and use that can you? no! so all they need to do is increase the range in which the cam or scanner captures your face.
nao doesn't seem much like a soothing robot anymore. it can now play tic tac toe and help cook
The problem wit the fingerprint ID is that Lord Farquad could break of Gingy's finger and use it to get into his portable telephone.
The concrete recycler kind of reminds me of a multi-mixer from the Artemis Fowl books...
