  • I reviewed the Razer Raion fightpad for PS4 and as someone who uses fight sticks mainly and as someone who has trouble going claw, the Raion is a nice option and is easy to use. Let me know what you think.

Yeah some days I just can't either. Being able to switch between flat hands and claw hands has given more a little more play time before I just have to stop, so that's a plus in my book.

The d-pad sometimes doesn't register moves as it lacks a pivot.

Hello 3 years later, is the fightpad keeping up well?

I think this would be a nice pad, but I really don't like the face buttons. I think they are both too small and too sensitive to use comfortably with your thumb. Having gotten used to playing with the Hori Fighting Commander, it is very difficult for me to be confident playing with this pad due to feeling like it is far too easy to brush the edge of a wrong face button with my thumb when doing certain input sequences. It's unfortunate because I think the d-pad is quite good (despite having some problems as well) and the idea of "Arcade stick" type of small face buttons is interesting. It just doesn't quite work, and after playing around with it, I think more normal pad buttons like those of a DS4 or the Hori Fighting Commander would have made the pad play far better.

I think you're right. I do like the d-pad a lot and I don't mind the sensitivity of the buttons, but I do find myself pressing multiple buttons with my thumb even when I'm using it with an open palm like on an arcade stick. I can't hit square with my index finger and X with my thumb without my thumb also hitting square a bit. Maybe if the buttons were spaced further apart just a bit. The Hori is probably still the better alternative.

@@DrSmoores For me The Hori is better for sure. I just feel more confident playing with it.
I am planning on repackaging the Raion and giving it to my girlfriend as a Christmas present, as she is starting to play some fighting games and needs a controller... Maybe she can make use of it with her more delicate fingers, haha!

Sad I had a lot of high hopes for this controller. I’m still tempted to grab one as I can’t stand the standard ps4 controller

It’s frustrating because I think it’s so close to a great controller. If you can teach yourself to be careful with your thump on the pad and push so hard it’s perfect. I still use it when I travel.
