I plan to buy (or build myself) one of these someday so thanks for the review. They look so slim and practical for carrying around. Also I must say you have a really nice voice sir. Keep up with the good work!
Wow, thank you for the kind words. It’s definitely something you can easily travel with without needing a big stick bag. Keep an eye on Paradise Arcade they’re making some new design changes to this model.
Haha yeah. Personally, I usually still say hitbox because people generally know exactly what I mean, but since the company HitBox has been marketing their controller as The Hitbox I decided to not use the name here.
I wonder if you could use Crown 202 or Gamerfinger plungers instead? And maybe try cutting some thick cardstock spacers to use on top of the PCB at the corner screw holes to have the plungers sit a bit lower into the case.
So Gamer Finger caps fit but are slightly elevated higher so you would have small gaps. It would probably be okay but I think you’d be more likely to lose a cap with aggressive gameplay.
Okay I tested a few options. The Crown 202s will not work at all. The plunger in the cap is too long so the button sits way above the acrylic. The GamerFingers do work, but they wobble a bit because the cap is low profile and there are small gaps on the sides that show above the acrylic and they do sit a tad bit higher than the MX plungers that come with the MPress. If you’re not hard on your buttons you could get away with using all GamerFinger buttons.
For me, the MPress has become my every day choice. The hitbox from Hitbox has new slimmer design and a butter bottom case that has pads instead of feet, so it sits on the lap a little better, but the panel just doesn’t have tons of space for your wrists so they do get pinched if you rest your hands on the case. The MPress has the buttons so high that there’s plenty of room to rest your hands comfortably, so for me it just feels better.
love mine. white with clear black. only thing i don’t like is the up button being the same size. in theory it’s the almost the same size as the plunger on a 30mm, on my afs wit crown 202’s, i feel the rim, kinda weird not feeling it.
Im almost finished with the micro review. I can say that it’s a toss up really. The micro is so small and oddly comfortable even being so tiny. The concave buttons feel good. The function buttons like L3/R3 are so small though it makes it difficult if you use those a lot. If you want something small go micro. If you want something that’s small but has full size buttons and a little heft go MPress.

Thank you for the review! I would have loved to see and hear the action on the buttons.
Oh I feel bad. I had to cut that section of the video because the sound just didn’t come out. I’ll make one of those RUclips short videos though!
I added a short video for you ruclips.net/video/_n3JDN3aoDY/видео.html
@@DrSmoores Amazing! Thank you, I've been looking all over for this specifically and it really helps a lot. Really appreciate the extra effort!
@@zerostarhx no problem! Glad it helped.
man that thing is beautiful. Do we calls these "stickless" to avoid calling them "hitboxes" ?

@@ofat9082 haha I hope you enjoy it. I’m happy they’ve added more color options. I want that green pcb!

@@laufbox_and_Isaac yeah the gamerfinger caps didn’t quite sit right and any pressure on the edge would have the cap but the plexi and pop up.
I’ll try a few custom options options over the next few weeks and report back if anything works well.

good and detailed review, keep it up! subscribed
Wow, thank you so much!
once you see the fliped controllers you cant unsee them
Do you think the MPress or Hitbox is a better everyday device? I heard the Hitbox digs into your wrists.
For me, the MPress has become my every day choice. Subbed. I have never used a hitbox style controller, only standard PS4 / Xbox and I need to import it in India. Mpress or SnackBox?
That’s a hard question. MPress if you want more hand space and want to make modifications in the future. Snackbox if you want small and comfortable.

Yeah it did take me a bit getting used to using all 30mm buttons. The 202’s are great. I’d love to have that feel on this.
Nice review! Thinking about this and the snackbox micro I would love to see your review of it you seem to be thorough* and not too forgiving.
