I went the carb route for boost I remember you emailed me the files to get the data logged to work but couldn't get it to work I suspect it was the cheap laptop I was using at the time glad to see your still running this instead of buying hptuners
I did my ls swap last January and bought the VT version then. Its fast like your new one and I can tune leaving the pcm in the truck as well, plus full image backups and all that too. Good stuff for sure! I don't use ls droid but use tuner pro and universal patcher and more, all windows based so no messing around with an android phone for me. Though if I needed to it wouldn't be an issue. I did IT (network engineer) for 23 years so moving data isn't an issue. Since my truck is bone stock I haven't data logged but really should figure that out one day. I do see you have some videos on it, but they really aren't that detailed on exactly how you have it setup and how you run the programs from what I recall. Maybe one day if you're bored do a very detailed video on that...? I'm guessing folks out there would love to see that.
I have the obdx pro GT. And I came from the same thing you were using and like you said wow what a difference in speed! It flashes just as quick as hp tuners. I did run into some bugs but I believe it was because the xdf. Didn’t match the bin. I was using or maybe it was the OS number I can’t remember off the top of my head. I don’t have as much experience with the free tuning as hp tuners. But I been fooling around with it and have used it successfully just doing vats and other small changes but not much tuning related like fueling and timing yet.
I ran into a freakin genius at LS Fest! He uses the free tuning to clone a PCM OS & VIN that he already has licensed with hptuners so he can do it all in hptuners without buying another license🤣
I'm too cheap for even one hptuners license so I've gotten into all that stuff via TunerPro and it works pretty good. But I already knew TunerPro really well from my obd1 past
@@LynnTwinCustoms513 yeah that's exactly what he did. He read the hptuners PCM to a BIN file via LS Droid and then "cloned" another PCM to be an exact copy. Then the cloned one works fine too read/edit/write via HPT
I had the exact green one you have. Slid it to my brother off the top of my car and it fell to the driveway, never worked again. Now I have a cheap 15$ elm327 one. But before I ever saw your content I had already bought hpt so sucks for me I guess.
I was contemplating hpt for my 8.1 when I stumbled into the LS droid stuff and I'm so glad I did. I've done at least a dozen different cars for a grand total of the obdlink $50. But this OBDX is worth every penny so far
Do you recommend the OBDX Pro GT since it also has GMlan all in one might as well pay extra. Do you know if it will write with LS Droid or PCM Hammer at 4x speed?
So im very new to all of this and mainly looking at deleting vats first and im also replacing cam so will be needing it for tuning also. But my main question is most people say to " bench" flash pcm to avoid possible bricking them. Is this unit safer and no need to pull pcm?
No, the bricking risk really comes from noise in the electrical system. On like a gmt800 truck there are other modules like the body computer that can interfere during a read/write. My swap car doesn't have that concern. But I did build a bench harness to flash my truck
So if I go with basic stand alone harness, will it be safe to flash pcm while its in vehicle? This is going in a obs chevy 400 turbo, what else do I need to delete while I'm re flashing computer?
@@GEARHEADdezign that was a turbo 400 transmission , but once I get it sorted out it is also getting a turbo, just figured there was alot of basic things to delete, thanks
Where is everyone getting these at I've been trying the website that it takes you too but it says no shipping or the shopping cart doesn't have enough in it .. I just want to buy one
I have a custom tune from blackbear, he increased my trans pressure on my gmt900 4l60e maybe 7 years ago and Id like to decrease it some. What's my best option to do it myself?
Hea Eric, I have an OBD X Pro VT, and I'm having trouble data logging with TunerPro and the VT. Are you able to get TunerPro data logging to work with the newer VX?
I haven't tried it yet, but I will be. I was getting weird results in TunerPro with my obdlink this summer and PCMlogger was working better. I really like TunerPro logging better though so I'm gonna see if I can get it to work
Ok. I'm working on a 2001 Corvette and I could never get TP data logging to work with my VT. I was able to data log with PCMlogger, but it was very laggy, and would drop out.
But it's way faster with the VX and Windows, so I'd recommend you just go the Windows route. The tuning software is also Windows so it simplifies the process

Yeah. TunerPro logging has been spotty, but I've gotten PCMlogger to work good. I'll do a video on that at some point

Be sure the 90 cable is a data cable and not just charging

The GT is supposed to be equal to or better than the VX in every way. So it should be great
I'm cheap, that's why I bought the VX🤣
The Ls droid legacy app is not on on the Google app anymore. What's another app we can use
I don't think it ever was on the app store. I got it as an APK from the LS Droid website

I’m having an issue connecting obdx pro to tuner pro for data logging. Anything you can recommend? Or do you use different data logging software?
The OBDX I've been using with PCM logger. And it's more readily customizable

Jist ordered a new pro VX , will the software work with a newer android phone?
Android 14
No, you'll have to use the Windows version
@@GEARHEADdezign ok thanks, so in order to use a phone or tablet I will have to find an old one I assume ?
You'll have to use a really old Obdlink LX. Mine is 5 years old

I think android 6 to android 10 the vx or vt or Vt version works bluetooth. PC is cable.
Have you ever flashed any e38 ecms?
No, P01 P59 only. I think there are a couple more pcms supported though, check out the LS Droid website
How to use OBDLink LX on hp tuner
Not compatible
What tuner can I use for the OBDLink LX I ordered and wanna tune my 2001 chevy silverado
TunerPro RT or Universal Patcher
Would OBDLinkLX work
If you have an LX that's like 5 years old it will work with the phone version. But newer ones won't, and none of them work with the Windows version
Can you turn off afm with it ?
Not to my knowledge. AFM wasn't an option on the 99-06
@GEARHEADdezign yes I know that I just thought since you seemed to be tuning with it you may have seen the option pr know the answer . Thanks.
