Netflix increases subscription cost twice during covid, shocked that people left. will once again be shocked when more paying customers leave when forced to watch ads.
I wonder when Netflix will figure out that people like great content?
They have never had people leaving?? The only reason they have 200k losses this quarter is because they suspended 700k Russians otherwise theyd have had a 500k increase
Maybe if they stopped spending millions on woke crap for the 0.01%?

@@MelkisgoedvoorJan They actually predicted a 2.5 mil increase so the (stock) might have still fallen just not drastically. Also if the stock investors' concerns were over Russia they might have sold their share sooner.

The GPU shortage is over! But… Inflation is still here and they just raised the price of everything because they realized you would buy it from a third-party at three times the cost so… There’s really not much to celebrate other than the fact that the manufacturer can now rip you off
Don't buy hardware from Newegg/Amazon. You will be MASSIVELY ripped off. Ebay is the way to go.

Considering that MSRP is only for Nvidia's own reference design, I think people really underestimate the price drop to reach that pricing and not vendors MSRP. The RTX tax is high.

It’s amazing. I just wrote a paper about the downfall of Blockbuster, and the short-sighted and tone deaf nature of netflix’s management a little over two decades later is effin hilarious.
If Netflix is concerned about the loss of subscribers at this point in time, they're going to be absolutely gob-smacked when they lose even more when they introduce adverts into a paid service. Stunning and brave.

I'm still seeing prices something like 40% above msrp but, you know what, it's getting better.

On FB market in my area (Same place as LMG) I'm seeing 3060 obviously LHR for $500 CAD, which isn't too bad since that's the same as some variants at MSRP and I even saw a triple fan for $450. And also, a 1080 is now $300-350, and I paid $600 for one in December since prices were rising again around then.
Expecting original FE msrp is the dumbest thing to expect
When 4000 is here it will be ashame to even buy 3000series at MSRP
@@rigoti best buy has had FE cards for the original msrp since launch. They never raised the price on them, they just sell out nearly instantly.
@@RSpracticalshooting that's due to a lot of reasons. 1. Contracts 2. Nvidias main business is selling gpu chips, not gpus themselves so they clearly have more wiggle room for prices compared to AIBs. 3. Nvidia using a 3rd party to manufacture the gpus instead of in house.
If FE msrp was actually realistic why would NVIDIA (the only one that doesn't rely on manufacturing whole gpus) be the only one hitting those prices and why would BestBuy be the only ones legally allowed to sell FE cards?
If NetFlix decides to pollute its service with ads, I will stop paying for that. I am not going back to 2006... the last year I paid for cable.
I cancelled Netflix a month or two ago. Whenever I noticed they raised their prices.
On the other hand, I dont mind ads. I am sure there will be ad blockers too. I have an issue with paying for ads.

@@jkbrwn I don't mind them raising prices. It's just a few dollars and the cost of living goes up every year. They are a business they need to make money. But ads on low tier subscriptions like Hulu did or may still do is absolutely a step in the wrong direction. I think a better way would be to hold back new releases for 2 weeks or even 30 days (but that's a long time) for the lower tier subscriptions. If people had to wait 2 weeks to watch a new Netflix original I think they would start paying for the premium package.

I love Netflix's idea. I mean, if people were sharing their account with each other and likely splitting the bill then surely they’ll be willing to pay full price! This totally won’t get people mad!

Honestly I don’t know how streaming services like Netflix or D+ do that kind of thing. I just know that a fair chunk of their audience will be splitting the subscription fee and using the same account, so if their plan is successful then they likely lose customers.
Its cheaper and easier to just buy a VPN plan and use one pirate website for everything at this point. Netflix was cool when it came out since it was so cheap and convienent, but at this point with 5+ different paid streaming services all with different shows, its just more convenient to pay less and have 1 place with every show.

But wait did they account for the increase in retail price in the calculation? We were supposed to have 3070s at $499.99 MSRP not $649.99 MSRP. Seems like all the manufacturers are trying something shady.

The prices are going down DESPITE scalping, the scalpers haven't dissapeared the demand has just gone down so much (mining becoming less profitable and many people who wanted to build/buy a pc during the pandemic either now having built a pc or simply no longer needing one now that they're back at work) that it's simply not possible to buy out all or most of the stock and sell it at a large profit anymore

@Shraf2k I can understand retailers' side because their profit margin aren't big and when the prices drop, they need to absorb the cost of the item + they need to pay worker wages and shop rents, I, however don't have respect for scalpers and distributor who withholding the gpus

@@mreatcoco don't be, retailers were all to keen to raises prices to try and match the scalpers. Also where do you think the scalpers got the gpus from? Vast majority of retailers weren't limiting the sales or anything. They made out like bandits just like the scalpers did...

Those GPUs should be 33% off right about now for how old they are... they're still 12% above and that's a 45% increase
That's not how percentages work. If the actual value should be at 67% and they are at 112% value, that is an increase of 67.1%. Always divide with the base value you are comparing to, 112/67 = 1.671
Also they've increased msrp a couple of times. And I just checked over here in the Netherlands it's way more than 12%
Netflix is just shooting themselves in the foot for having ads on "PAID subscription and shared." The price is already high and no point in not using it if it is just 1 person at a time.
They will add a cheaper subscription that's cheaper than the cheapest Netflix subscription we have now, and that subscription will be supported with ads. You literally have nothing to lose, and the people who weren't able to afford the high price of netflix can now finally get one even if they have to watch ads.

Prices are still sky-high here in Denmark. I suspect it's cause the retailers have also bought high and now they don't want to offload them at a loss or something.

5:13 This makes me appreciate my zoom IT class with 27 students, no video usage to help those with slow connections and rarely any screen share other than the instructor. Half the time I am somehow a participant with no audio or video connection. I guess I'm there in spirit.
I think there is room for improvement in distance learning before resorting to letting Intel use virtual classrooms to enable facial recognition to be acceptable for everyday use.

In the TV industry it's already normal to have ads in already paid public TV stations, plus a lot of TV manufacturers showing ads in there UI like Samsung
We are getting to the point where beeing an internet-Pirate is more user friendly than paying money for official subscribtions and still get sh*t on.
GPU prices have been plummeting in australia. a couple months ago you could get an MSI 3070 ti for around $1900, now that same card is upwards of $700 cheaper depending on where you buy it from.
Still way too much though. Msrp is like 650 or something and that's after they raised it a bunch of times....
In Sweden GPUs are in stock and at or close to MSRP for the basic editions. Not the super oc and so on. Even saw one retailer have 3060 on sale for below MSRP.

The gpus have been in stock at most places for about 2 weeks now, pretty sure it’s bc the 40 series is on its way, hopefully those are cheaper than the 30’s tho I doubt they’ll make that mistake again like when the 30’s were announced, but here’s hoping

There's going to be so much overstock of RTX 3060 cards around July/August you'll be able to get one for less than an RTX 3050. If you can wait a few months then definitely do that.

The Netflix one makes me sad. I remember like 10 years ago when Netflix was just a necessary home expense. The instant streaming library was…it may as well have been all there was all there was in terms of TV and movie content online. And the library was actually good! Shows I loved and wanted to watch, movies I knew I loved.

Why in hell you are even looking at Amazon? Shop on your local retailers. The reason scalpers exist is the fact that you ready to buy from them. Just ignore them, they will die out as class, and you will get back to full inventory for local retailers.

The only option I have and many other people is to purchase online and pay extra for the shipping all the way to my city. I will never buy from a scalper, not even on Amazon, Newegg or local retailers, still waiting for a good card with no scalper tax, I have enough extra costs as to include that on my wallet.

GPU prices continue to be inflated, because gamers are as (or even more) idiotic than miners , always willing to shell out extra money for overprices cards so that they can play the meme game of cyberpunk 2077. What more can you expect from a generation that has no concept of money management and expect others to pay for their college and healthcare.

Yes I am asking if Nerflix has looked into the possibility that those accounts were paid for by someone who is now Homeless, impoverished, locked behind a wall of sanction, Hospitalized, or Dead.

I’ve had a GTX 1060 6Gb for a while. I don’t game as much as I used to, and don’t feel like I need an upgrade, but with how cyclically gpus are having shortages, I’m considering buying one this years if prices stay low just so I don’t end up wanting one in two years when prices spike again
