Perhaps sharing usage statistics is optional; and it also depends on what they use that data for - so nah, I'm not concerned
Checking the scooter mileage while being in repair i suppose
Not really if it's aggregate anonymous data which is useful for further developing products, depends on what data they collect and how they process it, although we'd pretty much have to take their word for it.
I mean cars also know how far you have traveled too
Any car made after 2006 collects that data too
20% extra of overpriced is still overpriced soooo
Overpriced is based on profit margins and yes they've been overpriced, because when people like me go and tell people that AMD, Intel and Nvidia have been selling overpriced products for years, they don't care, all they care is that they can afford it and care which one is the "better deal"... Yep, my money is going elsewhere for a while. If scaling up is too costly, scale out instead. Slowly ugrading my music gear after nearly a decade feels nice. Unfortunately, the chip shortage also affects the electronic music industry-at a slower rate be it.
Doubt that it'll happen, tech in general has been getting more and more mainstream that we're the minority now. The general public that don't know any better will still buy them.
Just look at that smartphone market for example, Samsung & Apple has been raising their prices through the roof lately and the iPhone 14 "pro" line is rumoured to have another $300 US price hike
I think most people already do that willingly or unwillingly. The general consumer just buys a laptop, that lasts probably around 3-4 years and then when it disfunctional, because the screen hinge or something broke, they go and buy another one.

That's driver issues that I can be doing without.
TSMC and Samsung should be careful, with pricing. Many tech giants can afford to start and run there own fabs. Especially if it means they can offset their own cost by selling their chips for cheaper than TSMC and Samsung
If they can get rid of the all older orders (they are still manufacturing products with 10+nm), they will gain more capacity on the new ones (5nm or less). And to be honest no one will catch up them in 3-5nm just in a few years, so it's a win-win for everyone, if any new manufacturer will join to this and will take the 10+nm orders away (which is also have lower profit, so they can gain more money too if they have more capacity on 3-5nm).
Yeah, actually AMD and Nvidia are now bigger than intel at least in terms of net worth and they really might start their own fabs in the end.
Afford doesn't mean feasible though. A reasonably scaled fab is going to run you upwards of USD $3,000,000,000, they can also only be built on extremely seismically stable areas with nothing nearby, but also being close enough to a logistical import/export area, As such there's not a lot of places you can really just pop one up. You're also looking at 5-10 years before a fab is operational and creating marketable wafers.
I would expect to see some of the market giants to shift towards their own fabs in coming years, but that was going to happen regardless of price hikes.
@@randomcomment9992 Except that larger wafers are still used for nearly everything we use. Automotive, Household appliances, commercial devices all frequently use 40nm and 65nm wafers. Moving to smaller wafers also doesn't suddenly increase yields as much as you'd think. The larger wafers have a much higher margin of error, smaller wafers tend to have a lot of edge waste and wafers that fail QA or fall just out of spec, and being a higher paying market, manufacturers expect them to be much closer to spec.
@@sakaraist i know, but currently the biggest problem for Qualcomm was that, TSMC had not enough capacity for Apple and Qualcomm together, so they are needed to choose Samsung. And the desktop machines also will turn into mostly ARM based device, lot of company working on their own ARM chip for PC, which also need more capacity in the future with smaller wafers (yeah AMD already using TSMC, so if they changing x86 to ARM that doesn't mean a lot, but desktop chips from Qualcomm will increase the orders too and many others who will jump in this business).
8+ what? Plus more heat?? Hopefully TSMC does better.
nope, less heat. tsmc 4nm is so much better than samsung 4nm (actually 7nm+++)
Actually less. The power limit is about the same, but it pulls significantly less power under a heavy gpu load, which is what most mobile games are.
@@joshm8324 yeah "nm" has the same weight as "generation" now. Sure newer is better but you can't compare between companies. Stopped meaning something many years ago.
30% efficiency is also means 30% less heat (on the same performance). So it's depends on you, if you push the device to the limit, yes it can generate the same/more heat, but if you use it like the previous SD8 Gen1, you will gain less heat issue.

I don't know about that "Samsung chips suck compared to TSMC".
My DDR chips are from Samsung, and they run fast with tight timings pretty nicely, and all the 30 series GPUs are made by Samsung too, and those are quite... good too.
Also Samsung produces a LOT of DDR chips, for almost every device that uses DDR ;)
Samsung chips don't suck compared to TSMC, its just that TSMC has such a lead that they are better for the bleeding edge. Samsung still makes decent chips at anything except the bleeding edge though, nice yields too since the 30 series from Nvidia is also built on Samsung Foundries.
Samsung is suck in efficiency compared to TSMC, in every other way they are fair, but you can see the SD8+ Gen1 gained 30% efficiency, even when they are also increase the clock speed, most of that because of the differences between Samsung and TSMC efficiency. And the power consumption is only gives you huge advantage if you are using your device from battery, wired desktops just simply can use more power, you will not notice anything.

Intel is already well underway. Google the 3 billion dollar Phoenix AZ plant they plan to make
Sooo happy Huawei is banned in Canada! 🍁
China has threatened retaliation, but 70% of our trade is with the US so the benefits of winning brownie points with the US probably outweighs the potential losses from Chinese sanctions.
0:35 Netflix says sharing isn't caring.
Me and Keys said thank you at the exact same time!
Thank god i spent the extra money to future proof my build so I can hopefully outlast this PC part Great Depression
Basically, TSMC wants to be the scalpers. Demand is high, wondering why my TSMC stock hasn't gone to fuking Mars already.
because tsmc can't easily scale up and expand their operations to take advantage of the demand, which means their growth is very limited considering they're already at full capacity
yes for me the iphone 5s was the perfect size i could use the whole screen with one hand without moving it the size is 12.38cm high & 5.86cm wide
Five eye's,
No Huawei,
with those,
fries.
I loved when smartphones could be easily handled in one hand only
I hated having a tiny screen.
30% more power efficiency in just a miner update, Samsung is a joke lol
And they have the nerve to increase their prices. I have already seen some comparisons between Gen1 plus and it is keeping performance much longer while drawing less energy and heat.
IT clearly shows that one problems of Qualcomm this year has been the awful Samsung faps.
We’re making too much money and can’t keep up. Have a little inflation. Pisses me off how every industry is throwing this around.
How come aliens get to watch tv episodes but I have to wait an additional 6 months in the uk before I get to watch something.
y'all should really disclose that Linus is invested in Framework when you talk about the company
They usually do. Or at least Linus does. I agree they should do it whenever appropriate. The headphone RUclips situation is a mess. Half the big content creators are now selling their own sets tuned in partnership with other companies and you can't trust anyone anymore.
TechLinked is it's own channel, linus doesn't oversee the content on it, sometime's he's featured but he doesn't write the scripts or control the content.
It makes sense chip makers are reporting record high profits, when inflation goes up the dollar value goes down (duh) so they charge more. Their *nominal* price is increasing but the *real* price is about the same

3:35 I got irrationally cracked up by this
Unihertz Jelly 2 exists. Small android with decent power and good fit in every pocket. Great phone for those with good eyes for affordable price.
Isn't Linus a stakeholder in Framework? Did I miss the disclosure or was that not added? I thought Linus promised to be ultra-transparent about that. Didn't take that long to miss an opportunity to disclose a party of interest, or because it's Riley it doesn't count?
What is there to disclose in this case? Framework switching to Intel 12th gen is a fact not an opinion of anyone in LMG.
riley doesn't count, and it's a news article no opinions were given just facts - they released 12thgen motherboards
Techlinked isn't Linus though, he doesn't oversee the channel or control the content on it, there's not really any need. It would be like you telling your financial advisor about what stocks your boss has invested in so you aren't involved in insider trading. Completely irrelevant.
@@quantumtoaster5224 It could be this *only* made the news segment because Linus is a stakeholder. What other items didn't get talked about because of the Framework item? (And to be fair, I don't see this as huge deal, I am trying to show why it's important to disclose interests even when reporting standard news pieces.)
Samsung made the biggest profits and yet they wanna bump up the prices . I sure hope Putin starts launching them nukes so that after that everybody starts launching them and this whole blanet plows to smithereens 😂👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🥰
Maybe They not using TPM or update Windows themselves
What's funny is that the US still didn't present any proof for their claims about Huawei. So they basically said "Source: trust me bro", and Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the UK said "ok".
